I'm certainly not a fan of PM and don't watch GMTV but am wondering if he'll be re instated.

Grany

Unclear which claims he thinks have been proven untrue. Accusations of racism and negligence on mental health have been ignored and gaslighted. We can all choose what to believe, but public institutions have a duty of care and a wider responsibility.

Somethings weren't true though were they, the Archbishop said they didn't get married in the garden for one thing. I can't understand how they needed help to get support for her suicidal feelings when Harry was involved in mental health charities. Surely he knew someone to go to?

I don't think anyone can tell her she wasn't suicidal as I think only she can know that.

I know Piers Morgan is not everyone's cup of tea and he's an ego on legs, but he's a straight talker and I like that. I really hope GMB reinstate him. The show is not the same without him.

Just heard on the radio that GMTV have no intention of rehiring PM.

I don't think it was Morgan who was cleared,it was more ITV were cleared because the other Presenters of the programme were able to balance out his views.

The only 'right' decision in my opinion. He only said he did not believe a thing she said. Well, neither do I!

Jaxjacky Wed 01-Sept-21 15:38:38

JenniferEccles agree, it is significant irrespective of the person.

Smileless2012 Wed 01-Sept-21 15:09:46

I shouldn't think he'll go for compensation. Looks as if he's wanting his job back and I wouldn't be surprised if he gets it.

ITV lost numerous GMB viewers and advertisers when he left and at least now they can't be criticised for re instating him.

Alegrias1 Wed 01-Sept-21 14:56:45

I've just said this on the other thread about Piers but its worth repeating here. He hasn't been cleared of anything, ITV have. So it might be a bit unwise if he tries to get compensation out of ITV or GMB.

But seeing as we're being detail oriented: it was actually ITV who were cleared and when it comes to Morgan, Ofcom said restricting his views would be a "chilling restriction" on free expression but criticised his "apparent disregard" for the subject of suicide. ITV were also said to have provided adequate protection to viewers from potentially harmful and highly offensive statements about mental health and suicide.

What is relevant is PM is being talked about again. Regardless what we think.
I expect he'll have GMB production team in court soon for compensation?

who is/was sean locke ?

Smileless2012 Wed 01-Sept-21 14:20:54

I agree JenniferEccles significant indeed.

Never seen him on tv, or anywhere else, but he is probably right about what D of S. I give her little credence either.

JenniferEccles Wed 01-Sept-21 14:05:04

As I said before, this is not specific to Piers Morgan. The ruling would have applied to anyone in similar circumstances.
It doesn’t matter whether we like him or not, or in fact have mixed feelings about him as I do.
This is a very significant vote for the principle of freedom of speech

Nannan2, we used to do the same! I wonder how many other people used to use the clock to get their little ones up and dressed. Argh I remember it well, put your shoes on, put your shoes on, where's your bag? have you got your lunch? smile

Nannan2 Wed 01-Sept-21 13:18:32

*typo- He's soon to

Nannan2 Wed 01-Sept-21 13:16:36

We used to have GMB on , followed by Lorraine, every weekday when my two youngest boys were still in school, then in high school, as the time displayed on screen told them what time it was up to the minute, and therefore how much time they had left to get their bus! Since the very youngest left school i haven't seen it since and i must say, I've not missed it at all! As soon as youngest began college, i woke him, he went back to his room with his breakfast, i shouted him if he was running out of time, whilst i enjoyed a cuppa back in bed. He's about to start his final 2 years of college, finally back to normal attendance we hope! But thank goodness no more GMB.

PM can be a pain in the butt but words like toxic and creepy are over the top. He can be irritating but often speaks the voice of common sense and does a cracking good celebrity interview. So he goes from one extreme to the other, sometimes being a real annoyance but also being a very good journalistic broadcaster when he pulls his head in. So I like and dislike him in equal measure,

theworriedwell Wed 01-Sept-21 12:43:42

Yes Daisymae, I think there was a bit of an argument between him and Dan on the BBC and I do think it has made the BBC presenters a bit tougher with their questions. I have been know to shout at the screen when they don't follow up a stupid answer, just smile sweetly and accept the rubbish.

Daisymae Wed 01-Sept-21 12:15:04

Agree that the BBC interviewers seem to have been invigorated/emboldened by PMs stance. Which must be a good thing.

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 01-Sept-21 12:05:57

P Moron has had it in for Meghan since she was advised by friends not to meet him. He is toxic. Just remember how he was all over trump like a rash. I don’t think he respects anyone.

theworriedwell Wed 01-Sept-21 12:05:25

Galaxy

He is just so creepy and stalker ish about MM. My free speech means I can say thatgrin

He did seem to get obsessed but during the first months of the pandemic I think he was very good at challenging ministers, well if they were brave enough to go on. I think the BBC were really poor at just letting them say anything but that has changed.

Daisymae Wed 01-Sept-21 12:04:33

It's an opinion and he's entitled to have it. I would think that it's a good decision, ITV have certainly missed him, or rather the ratings have dropped which may not be the same thing.

Jennifer is it Morgan’s job to report the news or comment upon it?
The BBC and independent TV, and radio, have such different rules etc

I don't think GMB is strictly a news programme, I know it has news bulletin in it and it deals with "topical" subjects but it isn't like the 6 o'clock news. The BBC morning show is the same, human interest stuff, interviews with people promoting their new book or film etc.

FannyCornforth Wed 01-Sept-21 12:01:15

She does bring out the worse in a lot of people.
It’s quite a talent really.
