Hellogirl1 Fri 03-Sept-21 15:49:23

I love Abba, have done right from the beginning.

I was always a progressive rock/reggae type of lady … but The Day Before You Came done by Blancmange is brilliant.

Saw this on Twitter, made me laugh grin
'They are rehearsing for the Abba tour, it is really loud, you can hear the drums from Nandos'

Brilliant ?

despite being a fan of northern soul , i like ABBA , but have had a liking when based in RAF in West Germany , there first single "Ring Ring " was there 1st attempt at Eurovision .
I heard played allot on BFBS who based Koln .
I brought the single on Polydor but no mention of ABBA then as they used first names Bjorn , Benny , Anna and Frieda on that single.
Mick
Have Mama Mia DVD`s plus seem show in London with current line up

Love ABBA, guaranteed to get people onto the dance floor.
Dancing Queen works best for me.

tippytipsy Fri 03-Sept-21 17:17:17

The Seekers were similar, but somehow didn't have the moves.

grannyrebel7 Fri 03-Sept-21 17:17:25

I love Abba too, but I was disappointed that they're not doing a proper tour. Would love to see them live.

Allsorts Fri 03-Sept-21 17:22:17

I think it weird what they are doing, shows like test are for when you’re dead. it must be about money, why not show themselves as they are not were, but age is a dirty word. I love ABBA,their music makes you want to dance.

They have plenty of money. They are worth millions! It is strange that it is so often assumed that people only do things for money}

I was at a festival a few years ago and 10cc was the headline act. They did Donna a cappella and their voices are still amazing

I used to love 10cc.....'I'm not in love......' (hope that was 10cc!) Good to hear they are still doing their stuff.

EkwaNimitee Fri 03-Sept-21 18:24:22

Another who can’t stand them. Real ear worm music . Rock ‘n roll for me

Whatdayisit Fri 03-Sept-21 19:23:25

I love 10CC too!

Katie59 Fri 03-Sept-21 19:49:45

The concert is being produced by the son of one of the group, I’m sure ABBA fans will love it, but they are not appearing live, instead recording the songs in a studio, rather a cheat though.

Aveline Fri 03-Sept-21 21:31:58

The appeal of Abba passes me by I'm afraid. It's just jolly lift music to me. Synthetic and boring.

I've signed up for early bird tickets as DH was a big fan back in the day. He had all their albums, along with the Nolans, Black Sabbath, Saxon and other heavy metal.
The stadium is an easy journey and the tickets not too expensive.
I think holograms is a great idea. A consistent show with no pressure on aging performers.

I love ABBA. Great tunes you can sing along to.

ElaineI Sat 04-Sept-21 09:11:14

Love ABBA. Haven't heard the new songs yet but agree some singers can't carry their voice forward well into old age but will judge when I hear them.
After a fairly turbulent 7 months, the films make me miss the young woman I was once before meeting DH and having children. I used to go on holiday to Greek Islands frequently with different friends and loved those times with many funny (hair-raising tales) memories. I guess many of us have memories like this when life changes for whatever reason. Working way through with counselling but that seems to trigger things although my counsellor warned me it would. Anyway I still have ABBA on my iPhone.

Abba are genius in my opinion. I'm very keen to get the new album.

MayBee70 Sat 04-Sept-21 10:26:52

The only ABBA album I ever bought was The Visitors. Very political, very anti war and imo a classic album. I was very politically active back then and I remember telling everyone to listen to it. In fact, I’m currently scouring utube trying to find one particular track that I’m desperate to listen to again. I have a terrible memory for lots of things but can still vividly remember seeing them win Eurovision.

MayBee70 Sat 04-Sept-21 10:55:28

Realised the track I loved was Eagle, which isn’t on The Visitors.

westendgirl Sat 04-Sept-21 11:05:54

Love them , always have .

Whatdayisit Sat 04-Sept-21 12:26:11

I think Eagle was on Arrival the cover had ABBA in a helicopter landing.
