Hello all!

Further to the rather pointless ‘Hello from GNHQ’ thread, in which we suggested and asked for several things, but nothing was actually addressed.

One particular concern was Iam64’s continuing inability to post.

I wondered aloud on the aforementioned thread whether we should have a ‘Day of Direct Action’, and all email the management about this
([email protected])

What do you all think?
Any ideas, suggestions, anything?
Thank you smile

I m definitely in, I think life time bans….. unless it’s someone constantly trolling or hurling racist or homophobic or some other kind of abuse, is a complete Nono it’s draconian and abusive I didn’t know EV had a lifetime ban does anyone know what she is supposed to have done ?
I think it’s a good idea …are we having a particular time frame to bombard ? Say between 9 and 11 or just randomly throughout the day
If that doesn’t work we all need to decide on one day with us all posting nothing ….a postal strike ? !

One of the rudest (to my mind) has disappeared.
I remember her saying, quite poignantly, that she wished that she could ‘start again’, meaning that she was aware that she’d gone over the top, and was stuck with that persona.
It would be nice if she did come back, and start again afresh

I was just wondering about EllanVallin the other day. I missed the story about her ban, and wondered what had happened to her.

I would also like to see more transparency about the banning process. It's a mystery to me why some people get banned whilst others are so rude and get away with it.

I’m just curious about what causes GN to ban users. Is it a single infraction, a series of them or ?

I don’t think that anyone actually knows the details Lauren
There’s a warning, not sure how many

Depends who’s moderator when you post. Sometimes I think they don’t like your viewpoint or simply don’t like the cut of your gib. Touch of control freakery as they can cut people off from a vital support line with one click.

They’ve possibly fallen into the idea that we’ve all lived an easy life with cheap housing and mortgages, not being bright enough to realise that wages were often less per week than their hourly rate.

Only threatening posts should be moderated. If people post nasty mean spirited posts they should be left so we get a true idea of the members posting.

If I get cut off - bye - it’s been interesting knowing you!

Thank you FannyC smile

FannyCornforth Sun 05-Sept-21 11:15:25

Aldom yes, we do know that.
It’s been mentioned previously. I know nothing else about it.

lemsip Sun 05-Sept-21 11:08:51

has anyone on here been banned in the past?

Aldom Sun 05-Sept-21 11:00:28

Do we know that EV is banned? Or is it possible there is some other reason for her absence, like Rufus who is also missing. Just saying smile

I agree to ban EV permanently is wrong. Several others have had a reprieve, why not her?

As regards Iam64 it seems to be a technology issue. I am amazed it hasn't been sorted after all this time. Have they really tried?

ExDancer Sun 05-Sept-21 10:44:08

I completely missed EVs and Iam64's stories, can someone explain, in a few words, what it's all about?

Galaxy Sun 05-Sept-21 10:42:01

Iam64 is much missed, always fair and kind, and with a really good knowledge of safeguarding and feminism, often when I am on a womans rights thread I miss her voice, and remind myself not to be stroppy as she is good at that grin. However I dont really know what GN can do to be honest, if it a specific individual tech issue, I dont really understand to be honest.

I'm in on all counts and would have used the thumbs up emoji but cant as not using my phone at the moment- could we ask for a 'like' smiley/like button whilst we're at it?

Nortsat Sun 05-Sept-21 10:36:23

Thank you for the thread Fanny, of course I’ll support ?

Callistemon Sun 05-Sept-21 10:34:13

GrannyGravy13 Sun 05-Sept-21 10:14:17

I’m in EV’s ban is heartbreaking and Iam64’s situation ludicrous ??????

LauraNorder Sun 05-Sept-21 09:59:22

I’m in for Iam64 and for EV.
Tomorrow it is then.

FannyCornforth Sun 05-Sept-21 09:56:57

Definitely Dragonfly. Good thinking.

FannyCornforth Sun 05-Sept-21 09:56:10

Good stuff! It looks like it will be tomorrow then!
I’m not really the militant type (too lazy) but I do hope that others will run with it

dragonfly46 Sun 05-Sept-21 09:54:29

Can we also mention Ellanvannin's continuing ban? It seems so unfair especially as they have offered amnesty to others.

Whatdayisit Sun 05-Sept-21 09:52:43

I would like to be able to read all OP's posts like on Mumsnet. Somebody asked for that on the aforementioned thread.
I'm in as a follower!

Doodledog Sun 05-Sept-21 09:50:32

Good idea!

Grannybags Sun 05-Sept-21 09:31:03

I'm in!

FannyCornforth Sun 05-Sept-21 09:28:30

Thank you Lucca
Perhaps tomorrow will be the best time. Strike while the iron’s hot.
We could all start with Iam64s plight, and then add anything else that is concerning us.
