I’d love to have Miriam Margolyes ?

JaneJudge Tue 07-Sept-21 10:53:07

Grayson Perry and Phillipa

It’s tricky as the ones I think of like david Attenborough and Grayson Perry would make me feel rather inadequate ! And who wants that in a friend ! I already have at least one friend who is so much more intelligent knowledgable and talented than me

Kathy Burke - she just comes across as a genuinely down-to-earth, lovely person. The various documentaries she's done are all really good - she can talk to anyone and seems really interested in them without being either condescending or fawning over them.

Richard E Grant looks like a lovely bloke.

Ditto Julian Clary

I would like to be friends with both.

Rylan Clark (the one with the teeth) seems really nice but he has gone a bit over the top with his facial enhancements

Graham Norton. He loves his mum and his dogs and had a very good agony aunt column. Think of all the celebrity gossip he could share.

Paul Sinha. Not sure what I'd talk about though, as I'm not really well versed in cricket and stuff. He just seems quiet, down to earth and not OTT.

Most of the people coming to mind are too intense, when I think about them, but that is probably their stage/screen persona. Privately, I expect they are glad if no one bothers them. I would probably bore them all to death.

I would choose David Essex - I haven't a clue what he's like in real life but I would be happy to just look at his gorgeous face.

First reserve would be Colin Firth wink

JaneJudge Tue 07-Sept-21 11:54:38

Just the one Lucca? I'd call that winning grin

grannyrebel7 Tue 07-Sept-21 11:57:03

I would have Christine Lampard as she seems lovely. I would also have Tom Hardy as he's a big animal lover and he's extremely handsome smile

Namsnanny Tue 07-Sept-21 12:04:24

Someone who would hug me, ring me to tell me their latest news, wont talk about me behind my back and has a robust SOH.?
I dont think any famous person has that much space in their life to do that, do you?

But there are plenty I could name that I would like to have a one to one chat with.

JaneJudge Tue 07-Sept-21 12:07:22

I've just decided Bob Mortimer

watermeadow Tue 07-Sept-21 13:11:08

Jane Austen. Mentally I’m about 250 like her. I’ve never heard of all these people, assume they’re off the telly.

GrannyGravy13 Tue 07-Sept-21 13:58:01

What you see of celebrities on TV is not who they are in real life it’s their work persona

I am fortunate that I have very good friends, some are household names most aren’t, the most important attributes for a friend are loyalty along with the ability to laugh at our faults and frailties

?. I did say “at least one”!

BawBee2 Tue 07-Sept-21 14:16:11

Susan Calman - she seems down to earth with a lovely SOH
But then again, , Joanna Lumley but I would be in awe of her glamorous willowyness!

Shelflife Tue 07-Sept-21 14:41:22

I agree, unnecessary unkind and unforgivable!

Callistemon Tue 07-Sept-21 15:04:48

None of the above except perhaps for Paul O'Grady or Bob Mortimer.
But I'd be prepared to give them both up for LauraNorder and JaneJudge.
I'm very generous.

Paul would probably want a date at Battersea Dogs' Home and I'd end up bringing another dog home and Bob would want me to stand in the middle of a freezing river with a fishing rod in my hands.

Still thinking ?

Redhead56 Tue 07-Sept-21 15:25:23

Tom Hardy is far too gorgeous to be a friend. Bob Mortimer would be good friend to have he is so funny and natural.

Nortsat Tue 07-Sept-21 15:33:35

Emma Thompson

Sandi Toksvig

Jane Hill (BBC newsreader)

Prue Leith

Barack Obama / Michelle Obama

Alice Walker

Sara Paretsky

Janet Street Porter I admire her no messing directness.

nadateturbe Tue 07-Sept-21 15:45:15

Lorraine Kelly. I've read her autobiography and she seems a genuinely nice person.

Bluebellwould Tue 07-Sept-21 15:51:21

I knew someone who worked with Miriam M and he said she was as mad as a box of frogs and she was constantly looking to disrupt the other actors. (Apparently).
I would like to invite Prince Harry so I could work out the truth of the things reported and then to give him my much valued advice ?

Hellogirl1 Tue 07-Sept-21 16:00:37

Paul O`Grady and Julian Clary for laughs, and Susan Calman seems very down ton earth, I think I`d like her if we met.

Hellogirl1 Tue 07-Sept-21 16:01:26

to, not ton!

JaneJudge Tue 07-Sept-21 16:01:56

I've met Paul O'Grady briefly and he was a nice bloke. I always think he must have been a great social worker and they must miss him
