Hot hot hot

I’m just enjoying each moment of this late summer/Indian summer/whatever you want to call it, while it lasts! We’ve had a much better summer than last year, when my area of Scotland missed out on most of the good weather everyone else had. We had day after day of grey cloud.

My cat is still insisting on wrapping himself up in a fleecy throw, though. His core temperature today must be about 117degC!

We spent the morning until about 2pm walking in Shrawley wood, have spent the afternoon lazing. Waiting for the sun to drop then going into the hot tub for a soak.

watermeadow, early morning dog walk, watered plants - and cleaned one window (just one) on the shady side.

Next, lying about (with fan going) in cotton PJs watching films on Netflix, eating salad for lunch. Two ice lollies later - I might do a little knitting now it's cooler - and another walk about 8pm.

There's only two more hot days, so a good chance to 'recharge batteries' I think.

Spent all afternoon walking in mountains and swimming in river with DH and dogs. Glass of something very cold taken this evening whilst sitting in garden.

Spent the morning taking DH to hospital for tests and collecting him later. This afternoon lazing in garden eating fruit and later iced wine and admiring a pair of squirrels pinching nuts from our nut tree. Lovely autumn day.

We're having a week away in mid-Wales walking - so the blazing sun wasn't ideal for the last two days. We had lunch about 12 feet above a reservoir, wishing we could dip our toes in the water. But the blue skies have made the scenery absolutely magnificent and well worth a red nose.

One of our dogs has disappeared upstairs to sit in the bathroom. Her favourite place when the temperature rises.

I'll plonk myself outside for a bit with a book. I will then moan about the heat.

Dogs will be walked at 9pm. It is lovely at that time. Nobody around. But we'll need our torches!

Today I’m doing a voluntary drive and two friends are coming for lunch. May wander to the local this evening for a drink with DH, then watering.

It's good to finally have some nice weather but they have fertilised all the nearby fields so going outside is no fun at all.

Maybe they have it right in Spain and a Siesta would work well. I'm in work this afternoon or I'd sleep through the heat

What lovely weather we have been having not so good for me though as somehow it has brought out all the flying insects and anything that will bite and since Sunday both of my legs are stinging and painful and stung by pesky mosquitos and yesterday I could not even sit in the garden as felt awful.
Feeling better today so will venture out and what a killjoy I am
I want some cool weather which I am better suited to as the flyting insects just love to attack me.

We don't have it as hot as some of you ladies here in N.I. I'd the dog out a walk at 7am along the seafront and the sun was out, now I've got the shopping done, my extra walk on my own also done and it's bloomin clouded over. At least I won't be sweating cutting the grass later on as weather warning for heavy rain and thunder tomorrow. Enjoy the sun ladies

went for a lovely walk in local country park which has sunny spots then wooded area was a nice stroll then home for some ice cream

I’m never bored if I’ve got a good book to read. I think I’m naturally bone idle. ?

Life’s too short for complaining. Just smile ?

Hot is really, really hot here! 31 on Saturday and Sunday. I keep going as long as possible in the morning, pick all the fruit and veg early, doing any cooking that is needed or stuff things in the freezer like soups for winter.

After lunch its off to the pool, float naked in my water hammock with a book. Got a lovely all over tan this year. The pool is very private, surrounded by trees and bushes and no one can see me. Except word has got around from the flying club over the hill! One parasail glided over too low the other day and then crashed in the trees over the valley. Serve him right - voyeur!!

I went to our allotment at 8am, picked 7.5 kgs of tomato’s, watered all the newly planted veg. Came home, washed and bagged the toms, did a hand wash, hosed down the patio thanks to the roosting pigeons, now sitting in the cool with my cuppa reading through Gransnet ?

Had some errands this morning but now out for lunch. Definitely a stately home gardens visit, this afternoon!

Got the guest bed linen and towels washed and line dried after a visit from my son and his girlfriend at the weekend.
Wanted to tackle some deadly nightshade that’s sprung up in the garden but it had to wait until evening when it was cooler but was also getting dark.
So far today I’m staying inside but will sit out later on under the parasol.

I wish I could bear to sit out in the shade in the garden, but it is now so overgrown, it gives me no pleasure. DH does nothing in the house but the garden is his responsibility, and it is not happening any more. Basically he procrastinates, but now he has injured his foot.
At least it is cool inside as we have a really efficient fan in the living room. I have caught up with the papers and some mending so far today, after a short walk earlier before it got too hot.

Like the warmer weather but not what goes with in my road! Have neighbours who open all doors & windows, turn the music as loud as possible to share with us all! Like my music loud but not theirs so loud you can taste it. Being almost housebound I cannot get away from it so roll on cold & rain!

Hate be being a spoilsport as we don’t usually have many hot sunny days. But I cannot longer tolerate them, not sure it’s just ageing and/or conditions/medication, probably a mix. So it’s indoors with blinds closed, fans on till the evening, reading and napping!

Unfortunately I'm out at work all day.

It can never be too hot!

I love hot weather and have tons of energy when it is hot, so I get through three times my normal amount of work and eat like a horse too.

Yesterday I cleared my desk after making several phone calls/sending overdue emails, then I picked figs and made three jars of fig jam, picked and froze several kilos of french beans, stewed several kilos of apples, mopped all the floors, did several wash loads, attended a busy PPG meeting - and, after a ten day stay, I returned the last visiting grandchild to his papa, ready for him to start his first day of school today. In the evening my husband and I drank a toast to surviving the serial visits from our children and grandchildren over the summer - and then breathed a happy sigh.

Today started as yesterday, but it took all the morning and having got my work out of the way I now have two chocolate and courgette cakes in the oven and am ready to start on the next two when I’ve finished my cup of tea. Then it’s off to the allotment to pick blackberries and raspberries, which I’ll freeze and bag up. The weather is cooler here today, which is a blessing because yesterday I felt quite overwhelmed with the heat.
