What do others do all day when it’s too hot to go outside or do anything useful indoors?
I walked the dog at 6am and cleaned the bathroom before it got really hot. Done some sewing and read my book. Now I’m bored.

Went out at 12am for a lovely 3 mile walk with DH and GC in pram, making the most of this beautiful weather ??

It's only lasting a few days, in London, so I'm making the most of it. I lived in Saudi Arabia for six months so for me it's never too hot to go out in the UK!

My friend and I did a 75 minute walk at 08.00 and I'm soon off out to run a few errands - will walk on the shady side of the street if need be sunshine

The summer has finally arrived! except it's practically Autumn shock I often think September is better than August weather wise. Lovely right now, albeit very hot.

I've been quite busy changing all the beds, had quite a few members of the family staying overnight lately, and getting all the washing out on the line sunshine Hope it sticks around for a while.

I’m actually a tad disappointed as it doesn’t feel as hot here as predicted on the weather forecast - but still warm and sunny. I had planned to finally do all my household filing ( probably a years worth of paperwork to go through!) but am actually sat in the shade on my newly cleaned and restored patio.

I need to bake a cake for a visit to Mum in her care home but I’ll leave that until later this afternoon. I’m very good at putting things off!

I love the sun, but today I’m working behind the shed clearing elder, it never gets really hot round there as no sun reaches it, and it’s a miserable job when it’s damp and horrible outside, so today’s a good day to do it. The only problem is the bugs.

Lucca Tue 07-Sept-21 13:57:36

Oh dear. It’s only a few days. Be grateful for blue skies and sunshine. Honestly….whinge whinge.

Sorry but that’s how I feel !

Zoom meeting, follow-up paperwork, planning nextweeks menu and shopping list, preparing a talk I am giving in a months time. Reading paper, talking to plasterers, following Gn and Facebook admiring photo of DGS looking smart in new uniform for his first day at Big School, probably the only day he will ever look smart in his school uniform. Off to have another look at him.

Haha, a wonderful day for washing all my dog beds, dog blankets and towels.
Later I’m going to dig my King Edward potatoes up, leave them to dry for a day on the allotment then bag them up.

Bluebellwould Tue 07-Sept-21 14:23:48

I’m busy doing nothing ?

BlueBelle Tue 07-Sept-21 14:56:35

Love it never too hot for me

ginny Tue 07-Sept-21 14:57:56

A while back it was all moans because it was too hot. Through most of August people were asking where the summer had gone and it was too cold. Now it is too hot again.
As for what to do, just what you have to and the rest can wait until you fancy doing it.

Just back from doing some voluntary work in the forest. Made a fire circle for when children visit and added some more material to a dead hedge we have been building.
Then sat in the shade of some mighty oaks, drinking coffee and eating cake whilst watching a Buzzard tucking into its lunch in a nearby clearing.
Bliss. Hot but happy. ?

Casdon Tue 07-Sept-21 15:07:20

That sounds idyllic fiorentina51, what a lovely way to spend such a beautiful day!

Callistemon Tue 07-Sept-21 15:14:54

It's 29C here and I'm just wondering if the Head Teacher is insisting that the pupils keep their blazers on all the time as he did last term.

Some rules are made to be broken.

frankiemf Tue 07-Sept-21 15:17:07

I am joining all you happy people who see it as a lovely bonus. I am washing heavy items, and lunching outside.

fiorentina51 Tue 07-Sept-21 15:18:39

CASDON
It certainly was. Three ladies of a certain age who meet every Tuesday at a small farm in the forest and do various jobs, some forestry related and some to do with the farm.
It's part of a wider organisation which works together with Natural England and Forestry England to maintain and conserve the local woodlands in an eco friendly way.
I love my time in the woods.

Callistemon Tue 07-Sept-21 15:20:16

I'm lounging around outside too, enjoying it but just couldn't help thinking of one DGC in longsleeved shirt, tie and blazer.

Blossoming Tue 07-Sept-21 15:58:21

I’ve washed and line dried, been to the pharmacy, now relaxing with a book. Too hot for wearing trousers, so put on a lovely linen shift from Boden. I love the heat, my aches and pains seem to disappear smile

JaneJudge Tue 07-Sept-21 15:59:50

I have cleaned, done a wash and hung out, did the college run, went to the bottle bank, got a curry going in the slow cooker as I was supposed to be horse riding later so thought I'd have it after and they have cancelled as the poor ponies cannot cope. It's 32 degrees!!

JaneJudge Tue 07-Sept-21 16:00:52

Oh and I took my shopping in and put it away. My life is thrilling grin I'm waiting for some supplies to finish a job but they haven't come yet.. <sigh>

Mapleleaf Tue 07-Sept-21 16:26:28

It’s been lovely. Popped round to a friend this afternoon & had a pleasant couple of hours chatting in the garden. Shame it’s not lasting very long.

Forsythia Tue 07-Sept-21 16:29:33

Early morning washing, all on line and now dry, sat and read the papers, will do a good walk around 6 as it cools down. Lovely to see the sun again.

Esspee Tue 07-Sept-21 16:38:10

This has been the hottest, driest and sunniest summer I remember in Scotland. I have neglected my house dreadfully. Today I'm supposed to be sailing but there is no wind so I am lazing on board watching the swans with their five large cygnets and hoping to catch a glimpse of a wallaby at dawn.

TillyTrotter Tue 07-Sept-21 16:42:48

That sounds glorious Esspee.
I love to settle in a shady but warm corner of the garden, with a lemon iced tea and whatever book I am reading and pretend I am on holiday. ??☀️?
