I have been on here I think for a couple of years now and I have noticed some very weird and wonderful user names
and wonder if anybody would like to share the origin of theirs?..

EkwaNimitee Sat 11-Sep-21 21:01:20

Mine is a quality I try to cultivate, not always successfully! Misspelt to look like I’m an interesting foreign person.

downtoearth Sat 11-Sep-21 20:48:13

I am down to earth, because I am.
Been here donkeys years, originally Nellydeane.

seacliff Sat 11-Sep-21 19:05:30

Me too Danni.

DanniRae Sat 11-Sep-21 14:25:10

Oh! I wish I had thought of my parents names for my name.....I could have been "The Peggsta".....I like that smile

BlueSapphire Sat 11-Sep-21 08:56:53

Because it was our last notable wedding anniversary, Sapphire = 45 years. Sadly won't make our Golden (would have been next year), as DH died 3 years ago.

BigBertha1 Sat 11-Sep-21 07:03:32

A Big Bertha is a golf club. I used to be Teetime.

seacliff Sat 11-Sep-21 06:35:24

I admire all the clever names. All I could think of was my favourite type of place. A high cliff top covered in thrift, looking out over a wild sea. Gulls whirling and calling.

Elrel Sat 11-Sep-21 01:21:57

ELderly RELative but I think it sounds a bit like a Tolkien character!
Maybe I’m OLREL now…

allsortsofbags Sat 11-Sep-21 00:36:14

As I've said before mine came about when DD1 asked DD2 if she had a bag she could borrow for some reason. DD2 said "No but ask Mum she has all sorts of bags." True and I still have too many.

Could easily have been Far Too Many Scarves :-) also true

muse Sat 11-Sep-21 00:18:46

Two reasons. They’re one of my favourite bands. Seen them live twice and it’s short.

Katek Fri 10-Sep-21 23:42:05

Abbreviation of my middle name and a random letter- there was meant to be a full stop before last letter but I forgot! Think I now sound like an Egyptian pharaoh which wasn’t the original intention

JenniferEccles Fri 10-Sep-21 22:41:03

I especially love your idea Franbern
I wish I had thought of that with my parents’ names.

annodomini Fri 10-Sep-21 22:40:56

NOW it's even more apposite.

annodomini Fri 10-Sep-21 22:40:21

I adopted my name when I was 'feeling my age' which must have been at least ten years ago. So no it's even more apposite.

Forestflame Fri 10-Sep-21 21:29:59

I live on the edge of one of the most beautiful forests in the country. I also have a Forest Flame plant in my garden.

lemongrove Fri 10-Sep-21 20:41:39

Had a wonderful Italian holiday, set in a lemon grove?smile

Grandmajean Fri 10-Sep-21 16:28:48

I must have done something stupid because I kept trying "clever" names and couldn't get anything accepted. Finally did my own and got in so thought I'd quit while ahead !wink

fairfraise Fri 10-Sep-21 16:23:12

Mine is a way of describing my hair - sort of red going blonde with bits of silver in it. My version of strawberry blonde!

DanniRae Fri 10-Sep-21 15:43:47

I wish I could tell you all............but best that I don't blush

Shinamae Fri 10-Sep-21 14:55:00

LauraNorder

Early career in law, later admin in coroners office, married to policeman, mother to four very good boys ?

Now THAT is clever!! ????????

Scribbles Fri 10-Sep-21 10:38:32

Because I'm a writer and was always scribbling down notes and ideas as they came to me. Not so much these days though: my 'scribbling' is electronic, tapped into my phone.

henetha Fri 10-Sep-21 10:08:56

I grew up with hens, lots of them.

Elless Fri 10-Sep-21 10:06:49

Mine is simply my initials L S smile

Franbern Fri 10-Sep-21 09:47:41

My parents first names were Frances and Bernard. Franbern keeps them both in my mind.

maydonoz Fri 10-Sep-21 09:35:32

Hi Shinamae
Yes I also found it interesting and was curious regarding other GN's usernames so I started a thread on it about a year ago. Since then of course we've had many new members.
Mine is the Turkish word for parsley to reflect on my interest in cooking and the many years spent in Turkey, my DH from there.
I will enjoy reading about the new usernames.
