To me, it looks rude. It seems to be some sort of joke when they do it in photos, but I don't know what they mean by it. Can anyone tell me why they do it and what it means?

It is such a tedious habit isn’t it! They probably think it’s frightfully funny…..wrong!

MayBeMaw Thu 09-Sep-21 18:24:15

Does anybody over the age of 7 do that?

Sara1954 Thu 09-Sep-21 18:25:21

I repeatedly ask my eleven year old granddaughter this question, never had a satisfactory answer though.

Josianne Thu 09-Sep-21 18:27:23

My dog does it.
It means hurry and get on with the photo!

Smileless2012 Thu 09-Sep-21 18:29:40

I've no idea what it means but it seems to becoming rather popularconfused.

Namsnanny Thu 09-Sep-21 18:33:25

I have seen photos of pop stars (not called that now I suppose) posing with their tongues out quite a lot.

Not sure what it's all about, but it is quite a popular thing for girls to do.

It is become more popular - I hate to see it!!!?

I find it rude and very immature when adults and teenagers do that.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 09-Sep-21 19:09:59

I think it’s a generation thing, the young think it’s fun and some older folk don’t.

The most famous person, Albert Einstein stuck out his tongue.

welbeck Thu 09-Sep-21 19:45:31

i think it has got indecent connotations that young children may not, probably not be aware of.
they see the big girls doing it, and think that's the thing to do, without understanding the porn reference.

Blossoming Thu 09-Sep-21 19:47:56

Just childish, especially when 40 year olds do it grin

seacliff Thu 09-Sep-21 19:58:12

The worst I have seen are when they have a stud in their tongue .....shudder

Princess Charlotte has been seen doing it on more than one occasion.
Horrible I think.

Artaylar Thu 09-Sep-21 20:22:05

There's one of me doing it at around aged 43.....not one since though - I promise.

Calendargirl Thu 09-Sep-21 21:15:06

Awful.

lemsip Thu 09-Sep-21 21:53:12

Photographers poke there tongues out at the Royal children to get a response! that has been explained in the press. The children are not rude for copying. It was done to Harry as a small boy in the car with Diana...

BlueBelle Thu 09-Sep-21 22:11:07

Oh it’s only a phase

Kittye Thu 09-Sep-21 22:15:57

Omg have you got nothing else to be horrified by ?
For goodness sake ?

Oh my goodness Caleo you've struck a chord. I HATE this new fad with tongue poked out for a photograph. My grandchildren think it very 'clever' despite me asking them not too. I just delete the photo straight away. I find it rude.

Horrible. It's rude when children do it and looks vulgar when adults do it.
