M&S Christmas Light-up Gin! ???

Hurray! ?
It’s in stock at Ocado, and it’s also in my basket! (Both Clementine and Sugared Plum; sadly Madagascan Vanilla was - already, how? - out of stock ?)
I must admit, the bottles aren’t anywhere near as nice as last year’s

Speaking of last year, M&S used it in every inch of their advertising; and I never saw hide nor hair of it in reality.

You need Adblock Plus JaneJudge , keep those pesky adverts away.

Josianne Fri 10-Sept-21 17:20:25

Just order it, because you're worth it! Stick a candle behind it if it doesn't light up.

Sofa Fri 10-Sept-21 18:59:50

I have bought the clementine and plum ones this afternoon from my local M and S and they do night up. They cost £20 each. There is also another different one at £17 that does not light up.

Sofa Fri 10-Sept-21 19:00:33

Light not night!

Blossoming Fri 10-Sept-21 19:19:23

I can’t buy them now or they will be mysteriously empty by Christmas!

JaneJudge Fri 10-Sept-21 19:50:49

sofa wins gransnetter in M&s award for today smile

I can 100% confirm the bottle does light up, was in M&S this afternoon and popped the wee light on to see what it looked like and it was lovely! May have sneaked one in to the shopping this week!

Galaxy

Is that you happy again fanny.
Eeh it's been an emotional rollercoaster.

Gosh, thanks everyone ( in the style of Olivia Colman) flowers
No, seriously, I really am grateful.
When I get some (for research purposes obvs) I will report back on all the ins and outs of it.
Bottoms up!

JaneJudge

what about this?

For anyone with a Costco card who is thinking of buying the above they have it for £23 including shipping .

Talking of Advent Calendar's - the M and S one last year was amazing ! - I found the products all good quality and some were full size - the Aveda leave in conditioner for one - lots of £££'s usually. I think it was £20 if you spent over £30 online or something . . . . . Cannot believe the price some brands are asking for them now - I suppose it is catching on - but I saw one yesterday online usually £485 worth for £85.00 - I can't justify a treat of that value - for myself - however I shall be watching out for the M & S one again - as I deserve that! grin

Galaxy Mon 13-Sept-21 15:57:27

I cant make up my mind which advent calender to buy, there was quite a good thread on MN with recommendations, I might fancy a posh chocolate one.

FannyCornforth Mon 13-Sept-21 16:07:45

I’ve never had a grown up advent calendar.
I always fancy a beauty one, but I know that there will be so much stuff that I really don’t want.
Cheese ones sound good, but it looses something by being hidden in the fridge.
I’ve bought the dog a couple in the past, but she’s just too picky.
Were there any other ideas on the MN thread Galaxy?

Galaxy Mon 13-Sept-21 16:17:30

A lot of it was drink, pringles, a sock one grin, and savoury snacks were popular. Oh and everyone seemed to be going crazy over the bonne maman one.

Josianne Mon 13-Sept-21 16:19:05

These look pretty this year. I love anything Cath Kidston, as well as Roses chocolates.

Josianne Mon 13-Sept-21 16:21:35

Thanks *Galaxy, I'm going to order 2 Bonne Maman ones, Brexit willing.

JaneJudge Mon 13-Sept-21 16:30:54

I bought a roccabox one in the sale but I'm going to put it in my daughter's supported living house so the staff can take turns over December and I'll buy her and her housemate some chocolate ones I think (they'll be more impressed with that grin )

I like the look of this William Morris one

Just a thought on pretty gin bottles, Silent Pool ones are very pretty, the gin is excellent and you could get one of those cork light up thingies for when the bottle is empty. In fact the Silent Pool distillery shop even sells such. Guess who had afternoon tea and a tour as a birthday present? ?

TillyTrotter Tue 14-Sept-21 06:22:50

What a treat for you lovely Purpledaffodil.
Lovely Roses tin Josianne - will be looking out for those.

Lilypops Tue 14-Sept-21 08:09:18

Kalu, I love fairy lighting bottles too, the cork type things are the best , I have a couple of “ posh” gin bottles that have great colours on and look fab with fairy lights in ,
I am off to hunt down more lights ready for C ,, ?

FannyCornforth Tue 14-Sept-21 08:48:29

Galaxy a sock one! That sounds great!

Josianne lovely tins, £8 at Ocado, but out of stock (natch)
£15 at Amazon

Jane I always like the look of the Morris ones (another natch) but the contents are a bit repetitive

My ‘does it or doesn’t it’ light up gin arrives tomorrow, as does a string of fairy lights, to drape around my bedroom, just in case!

Purpledaffodil I shall have a look at Silent Pool, thank you

Josianne Tue 14-Sept-21 09:10:08

Well done Fanny. Look forward to seeing what you get!

Shame about the chocolate tins on Ocado, but I have ordered 2 bonne maman calendars from Fenwicks. I will report back.

FannyCornforth Tue 14-Sept-21 09:24:34

I’ve just been trawling through loads of beauty calendars on google. I’m going off the idea. I just envisage lots of waste. And if there’s a product that you do like, it’s only titchy.
Draper did a tool advent calendar last year. I hope that they do it again.
I could be tempted by a sock one.
It would be great if you could get a calendar with a mix of different stuff in it

FannyCornforth Tue 14-Sept-21 09:25:51

So far the Space NK one looks the best, but it’s £199, with a product value of around £750

JaneJudge Sun 10-Oct-21 18:18:36

if people don't like gin, I've noticed they have a similar range of other lighty uppy stuff!

Urmstongran Sun 10-Oct-21 19:11:02

Last year I bought 4 beauty advents for AC & their men partners (different products such as beard stuff etc) from Liberty’s of London. The 4 cost me over £800 which last year I didn’t mind as (a) as a WASPI woman I’d just gotten my state pension in the summer and (b) the 4 recipients hadn’t had any holiday due to covid.

I’ve just had an alert email. This season’s are on sale. But at just over £1,000 for the 4 adults I thought no. Last year was I think a one-off. For the bestest of reasons but this year it’s too rich for my blood (and bank balance).
