Where’s the one place you never want to visit again?

Years ago, when we used to holiday with other family members everybody else wanted to holiday in Turkey but, although I had never been there, I had a strong aversion to going there. Having read most people's posts on here about the place I am glad to realise I was right!

Turkey! Hated every aspect of it.

That was my experience too. After 24 hours I was begging my husband to take me home, I was so uncomfortable with the hostile looks from local men. Horrible!

Dubai, concrete city, did absolutely ziltch for me.
The Dubai fountains were spectacular, but long way to go to view spectacular fountains.

Crewe Railway Station, dirty, dingy, dilapidated. Toilets either closed for maintenance or most cubicles out of order, but no indication of this on the signs so you trail up and over the bridge carrying luggage only to find them shut. No cafe open in the evening. Too many steps to negotiate between platforms, lifts inconveniently located. Difficult to find a display board with train times, few staff available to help. Unfortunately I use it regularly and it never gets any better.

Quite why I reacted as violently as I did, I really do not know. DD visited later and shares my aversion. DS and DDiL love it!

Snowshill Manor, a National Trust property.

Some old eccentric found this exquisite Cotswold farm house set in a deep valley in the Cotswold, painted the inside black and filled it with collections of anything you can think of from valuable Japanese Samurai armour to old bicycles. It is horrible. The house should be put out of its misery and return to being the family home it was meant to be and the collections should be dispersed to museums who would appreciate them.

I thought it was completely bonkers but not without some charm. DH loved it. The gardens were lovely. One visit was enough though!

We enjoyed it as well, an eclectic mix of treasures collected by an eccentric - he collected so much he had to move out of the Manor to a smaller house!

Malta. Too concrete, and the people were really rude

Loved Malta, plenty of great architecture, history , fantastic museum, fabulous pool play area and aquarium, found people very friendly.

Mummer not my experience, found the toilets clean in fact. I was trekking and staying in village houses, i was suffering from to much sun one day and decided quite early into our trek to the next village to go back to where we had stayed overnight and wait there for the lorry that would transport our luggage and go on that. When I went into the house the women were scrubbing, and I mean really scrubbing the loo and bathroom. I was welcomed with open arms and made really comfortable. They are far fro m dirty. As for hassle, the only one in our group who got any problems was a young teen wearing a skirt so short it nearly showed her bum, other times she wore really short shorts and cropped tops. Wevisitors should respect their countryand the dress code.

New York City. Hated it. People were horrible to each other .

Yes Juno Rye is lovely - I hope to go there again sometime.

We drove round and round Rye and couldn't find anywhere to park so we left and have never been back.

Can’t understand that, I’ve never had a problem parking in Rye .that’s a shame as it is lovely.

Soweto. Although there were some interesting parts, my adult daughter didn’t know what to expect and her bottom jaw touched the ground at the sight of the living conditions of some of the people.

Turkey.its an open sewer! Hassled constantly with DH and THREE teen DS and I was still hassled!!! Also makes me laugh when posh ads shown on TV, I always shout at TV"yer not gonna show yer filthy bogs are ya?!" Uggh!! Makes me sick to think of it.dump!

Don't know what part of Turkey you visited, but that's not been our experience anywhere we've visited - and we've been going usually twice a year for about 20 years now! The Turkish people are the most genuinely friendly and welcoming we've ever met - and we've never been anywhere remotely 'filthy'.

I had a similar experience in Victoria Coach Station, Ginpin. I was sitting minding my own business when a couple of police officers came over and asked me if that was my bag stuffed under my seat. It wasn't, and the whole place was evacuated. I had to go then, so never did find out what happened. I just found it all very exciting, being a naive country girl. I've been there many times since - the only thing I have against the place is their grim unisex toilet block, that seems to be closed for cleaning more often than not.

What a shame GranEd about Northallerton. You must have had a bad experience there. We moved there just before DS1 was born and the other son was born there as well. I have many happy memories of living there. As for where I never want to visit again - on a holiday on Fuerteventura we decided to take a day trip to Lanzarote (I love islands and always take the opportunity to visit another one). Eventually the coach dropped us off at Puerto del Carmen and that is the place I would never go to again. To say it was not what we expected is an understatement. We did however, a few years later, actually stay on Lanzarote because we were intrigued by the landscape we had seen on our journey to the awful place and we had an enjoyable holiday.

Sue it’s far too busy, I’ll grant you that. It’s very hard to go anywhere in the UK now that isn’t over crowded

Try Fermanagh, most westerly county in the UK. Beautiful countryside, amazing Lough Erne and friendly people and definitely not overcrowded. Maybe I should have kept it a secret as now you may all want to go there!

Vietnam was the worse place ever for hassle, cheating and intimidation, get a taxi, agree a fare $5 arrive at destination and it’s $10. The driver will shout, threaten to call the police etc. and that is just one example. Hated the people but the food was out of this world. Loved Cambodia but not the beach area and loved Laos. Never been to America but I can safely say I will go anywhere in the states, their idea of living and eating is not mine. I loved Turkey, found the;do;le friendly and with a good sense of humour. Yes the men will try it on but treat it with humour and it soon turns into light heated banter. I would go back any day, Same with some other places that people haven’t liked, Bulgaria was one, the people and the country were so poor and we need to make allowances for that. In this country I would say Cornwall full of second homes and visitors, much prefer North Devon. Also I live just 12 miles from Weston S Mare but hate it so much I haven’t been there for over 25 years. We are all different thank goodness.

Has to be Las Vegas. Luckily we only stopped there for a couple of days whilst touring. Never again.
