Lovely 6am shock...spider with the crater legs in kitchen sink and in shock just switched hot water tap on but it wasn't going down the plughole which has a small top food drain which it must have lifted up and crawled...it was so HUGE in circumference that i ended up swishing it with hot water..then felt bad...in the past have been able to scoop them up with kitchen towel and put out window or door whichever was nearest...think i need to get one of those spider catchers ...

I woke up this morning to feel my hair tickling my neck, brushed it aside, and it was only when I got out of bed I found a very crushed and very dead spider underneath me.

Spiders don't actually bother me, and I would have put it outside if it had said.

My house is now awash with spiders - it is that time of year, they pop in to do whatever spiders do !
I love them as they are more than happy to eat a whole host of bugs I can never eradicate until the Autumn/ Fall . A Dyson on full power IMO.
Never dismiss the power of a spider - they are totalling amazing !

I was sitting in semi darkness yesterday evening - laptop and television on - when a huge spider ran across my chest. I saw it out of the corner of my eye. It then ran onto the laptop and DH was obliged to grab it and throw it out.

I've no idea where it started its run. And I will grab and throw them if there's no DH there to do it for me!

I don’t like spiders. If I can catch them and put them out, I will, but it’s those Cotton-Eyed Joe spiders that get me.
I’ll be sitting peacefully reading, when suddenly one runs across the rug and disappears before I can catch it. End of peace!
Where did you come from?
Where did you go?

I`m terrified of the things. Now it`s just my disabled daughter and me, I dread any coming in.

This web was outside my front door yesterday morning. They spin their webs across the paths and if I don't spot it I get the web stuck to my face and hair. Yuk.

kathsue Those are amazing pics beautiful ..but know what you mean about getting face trapped in them!hellogirl1 my daughter is also terrified of them and actually had some therapy when she was young child...I've always been able to grab and put them out but now mobility impaired so unable to react quickly enough so and the size of some of them are quite terrifying!!

Spiders love my bath. I keep having to throw them out but they are easy to catch in there.

So true!

I just bought myself a humane spider catcher, one of those little vacuum ones, as I hate killing spiders; they are good creatures. It works! There was one on my bedroom ceiling this morning and now he is safely at the end of the driveway.

Never kill a spider , they are easy to catch .

I’m a bit nervous around spiders, truth be told, but always follow DH’s efforts to catch them, shouting Don’t kill it, don’t kill it!, even though he knows the drill by now! We are getting a lot of those very spindly, difficult to spot ones at the moment, but I moved a cupboard in the cellar a couple of weeks ago and was confronted by the biggest, blackest monster I’ve ever seen. I swear it was looking me straight in the eye, daring me to tackle it. I just shoved the cupboard back and now try not to think about it when I wander down to put my washing in.

Thanks Shinamae grin. I'm hoping he might run in the other direction!

If he does you need to do what I do with them, when I let them out I say to them “look I’ve let you live I haven’t stepped on you so please do not come in the house again”and touchwood have not seen a lot of spiders actually in my house but then I am terribly terribly short sighted And thankfully have very dark carpets so won’t be sitting looking at me and I probably wouldn’t notice him…???

henetha Tue 28-Sept-21 13:34:20

You obviously have the magic touch with spiders, Shinamae.
I will try talking to them but if it doesn't work, then out comes my new trusty spider catcher. Perhaps I should take them for a long walk, (or drive) like I do with mice. smile grin

I took a spider out to the garden. He had been lurking in my bath. Next day he was back. I knew it was him as he had a tiny white dot on his back. May have been a she.

Please don’t tell me that spiders have built in GPS. I’ll never sleep again.

we live in a flat so rarely see spiders. These last few weeks though I have been spotting large black spiders in the communal hallway and lower ground floor back entrance. I hate spiders and really freak out at the big ones. I cant stand the thought of them roaming about. Is there anything I can buy to deter them?
