The subject is pretty emotive. I hate the idea of watching but agree we shouldn’t be allowed to forget so that we learn from the worst of history.

My memories of working at the BBC are haunted because of his actions. I used to open the Jim'll Fix It letters as overtime, and dread to think what happened to the kids I put on the interview pile.

No one was piling on and GNHQ altered the title and the OP came back and apologised and the discussion has progressed

I would imagine that some of his victims would be happy to see the depths of his depravity exposed on tv, particularly as they were accused of being attention seekers or money grabbers by some.

I won’t be watching, he always made my skin creep, can’t understand why he was ever left alone with babies and children. He was a vile person and why they make a programme about him must be so upsetting for victims families.

As far as I am aware a number of the victims collaborated with or were consulted about the production, have I hit this wrong .

It is quite some time now since the crimes of Savile were exposed. I think the story needs to be told to raise awareness etc. A similar thing happened with Couzens people knew he was a sexual predator but did nothing. I think Coogan will do a good job of portraying this evil character. I will watch at least at first to see how it unfolds.

I would have imagined they would need consent, and those who don't will simply be made anonymous for the programme.

I met Saville once he sat next to me on a family day on a War Ship..
He made my skin craw, weird man. I also worked with someone who had worked in Leeds General. He was always hanging around there, they too (on the shop floor) couldn't stand him, they referred to him 'Now then now then', when seen, they headed off in opposite direction so he wouldn't talk to them.

He lived in a cottage in Scotland, where my ex was, and there was not one person that liked him, or his chauffeur, who they said was just as creepy.

Exactly Sodapop if these awful awful things are always kept out of the viewers eyeline how will things like this ever be challenged, surely by seeing this, it will alert people to clues, little pointers, and bigger signposts, surely it will encourage people to think what they would have done or do if they saw these things happening, and perhaps make them more aware in any future situations
I don’t for one minute think it will be done to excuse or sweep under the carpet but to educate and bring clues to everyone’s view, making it easier to see through abusers of which there are many around I think Steve Coogan has not gone into this lightly

There are other predators criminals etc being made programmes and films of for instance Fred West who took his own life and he caused much anguish to a lot of people in the area I used to live. Many people including my own parents knew him well. There is no one forcing you to watch if you don't want to watch it don't but I think that people need to know about these people maybe to learn the signs to stop it happening again, we can but hope

I found the documentary series on Harold Shipman very interesting. Amazing that he got away with it for so long. Most likely the UK's worst serial killer. If only he hadn't died in prison so quickly we might have found out why he actually did it.

I only recently watched one about Beverley Allitt (?)
I had always imagined her as a somewhat tragic figure, but it seems she was a power hungry, narcissistic person.

I can never understand how popular he was years ago but now everyone reckons they always knew, felt he was a wrong'un or whatever.

I must say, I always felt slightly repulsed by him, even as a child.
I just assumed it was the look of him I disliked; the clothes and hair.

There again, though, I loved Gary Glitter.

We pass Saville’s remote Scottish cottage each time we go up to Western Ross with my stepfather. It gives me the creeps when we pass it. Boarded up with graffiti now. The secrets those walls must hold...

I know Saville had a very strange relationship with his mother was there a father figure?
I m afraid I couldn’t stand Gary Glitter but although I used to think Saville was a strange chap I never (as a young person) thought of him as an abuser However I m not sure I knew anything much about abuse at all when I was young
