Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark but windy here in Brackley this morning , its also looking like the seasonal change as started to happen .
Today , I apart from an early shop , I have had thoughts on a bus trip to Bicester , and go to the local Fish & Chippy on return .
Mind you one task early is to change the page on the calendar.
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning, all, from Portsmouth Travelodge, where we have a wet morning.

Well, the crossing from Ouistreham was one of the roughest I’ve ever experienced! We were over 30 minutes late arriving as a result. Full marks to British Immigration as they had six booths open (France had two when I arrived there last month) and I was waved through on showing my passport because everything required (Passenger Locator Form, vaccination certificate and Covid test certificate) had come up on the computer! Wonderful!

Although I’m in no rush to be on the road just yet, I’m looking forward to seeing my flat after being away for five weeks.

Wishing you all some ??? and some silver linings to your clouds. ?

Good morning from yet another grey day. Probably the predicted equinoctial storms.
Yesterday was bad. DH found that the upstairs loo was leaking through the ceiling; the heating thermostat broke and a valve in the new dishwasher stopped working! I could turn this into a Marydoll novella, but the long and the short was that the local plumber came almost immediately and fixed everything. Bless him.
Meanwhile, I made about 6kg of mincemeat for the next two years. The house smelled heavenly.
Today, DDhas arranged for me to have a full body massage - I’m really looking forward to it.
Hope harrigran has had an ok night, hugs to you.
Carpe diem, lov3 well. ?????❤️❤️

grandMattie Fri 01-Oct-21 06:18:30

Glad you arrived safely Ash. Will olddudders follow soon?

farview Fri 01-Oct-21 06:21:42

Good morning Mick and all who follow, dont often post, just read,up early thinking about my husband's escalating memory problems,he wont speak to the doctor...but I've been getting really cross and agitated with him...and woke up today in a better frame of mind...it would be like someone getting cross with me because I can't speak Greek...so hopefully can now, calmly get him to see someone.

harrigran Fri 01-Oct-21 06:26:30

Good morning Michael from a dry NE.
My goodness the year is flying past.
Wonder if Ernie is going to deliver winnings again this month, I actually do better with premium bonds than any interest from bank accounts.
DD arrived in the UK without any hold ups, she messaged me to say she was in St Pancras before 10.30am which meant she had an early start.
DH surprised me by asking for an egg last night and he ate a piece of toast too followed by a spoonful of ice cream.

Ashcombe Fri 01-Oct-21 06:30:11

What a day you had, grandMattie! You’ve earned that massage - what a kind DD (I think we know from where she gets that!)

olddudders has a few medical appointments to attend but hopes to be over before too long. Thanks for asking. ??

Urmstongran Fri 01-Oct-21 06:37:59

Good morning everyone from South Manchester where it’s dry but still dark - apart from the train station across the road where the 6:25am train to Manchester Oxford Road is just leaving Platform 1.
?

It’s my stepfather’s birthday today. He’s 89y and as fit as a fiddle. We are going over late morning, taking his present and cards. The family have reserved a table in the wine bar in the square downstairs tomorrow afternoon as work and school get in the way today.

He wants to go to M&S Simply Food to stock up as he’s not been all summer and then of course coffee & cake in their little cafe. At least he has his club tonight - Monday’s & Fridays he goes in with his friend of an evening for a couple of pints and a blether. His brother who is 94y rang him last weekend, mentioned his upcoming birthday and said ‘Are you feeling old yet?’ which made him chuckle!

NanKate Fri 01-Oct-21 06:50:22

Good morning Mick and All.

A dark cloudy morning in South Bucks.

I’m glad your leak etc was sorted so quickly. Enjoy the massage.

Jaxjacky Fri 01-Oct-21 06:53:17

Good morning all, I can hear the wind and rain here in S Hants. Thought of you last night Ashcombe, glad you’re on terra firma, take care on your journey, it’s horrendous.
Oh grandMattie what next…hopefully nothing, that was your three, thank goodness for your plumber, he deserves a medal. Enjoy your relaxing massage.
I have a stack of ironing, MrJ normally irons, 98% of it is his shirts, but he’s been working so hard, my guilt has kicked in and I’ll grit my teeth and get on with it. Tesco delivering later, no mushrooms, then Friday is local night, to catch up with the crew.
Have a safe day all, pinch and a punch. ??

Good morning all from a very wet North Leicestershire.

I have wondrous Wolfie today as DD3 ha an appointment and DH is driving. His previous drive was on Wednesday when he took a regular passenger to his final chemo session. When he got the man home and gave him a shopping bag with biscuits, wine and a tin of Roses chocolates. He was quite taken aback.

Love to harri. farview I have pmed you.

Pittcity Fri 01-Oct-21 07:27:15

Good morning from a grey skied Colchester where it's about to rain. The heating has kicked on so it's chilly too.
My laundry basket is overflowing as usual so the washing machine and iron will be working overtime today. A supermarket trip is needed too. DH also has new specs to collect. I'm glad we moved as everything is a 15 minute walk from home. We have not filled up the car since the panic started and are now running low.

Love to all ?x

GrannyGravy13 Fri 01-Oct-21 07:34:28

MayBeMaw Fri 01-Oct-21 07:38:11

Good morning all from blustery N Bucks.
There is much going on in all your lives and I feel for you farview - it is only natural to get impatient sometimes, it’s a manifestation of the worry you are feeling for your DH’s condition. Entirely understandable.
I was beyond ecstatic to find that the solar panel/bird protection had been done while I was out yesterday morning! I am so grateful to those who advised me, especially Greyduster . I had actually come to hate my garden as the patio, despite weekly power washing and daily sweeping up pigeon droppings (eurgh) was becoming unusable.
I do love the Portsmouth -Ouistreham crossing Ashcombe , fortunately it has usually been calm for us. We used it a lot when Paw was alive to go to D-day events every year in Ouistreham and the area around where we have a “Place”, a”Rue” and an “Avenue” named after my FIL. What always used to strike me especially after the overnight crossing to France, with D-day uppermost in my mind- was how very, very different it must have been in 1944!
Harrigran you will be relieved to have your D with you, for moral, emotional and practical support. I hope you can find the time to enjoy each other’s company too.
Grandmattie what can I say- sometimes the appliances /house just conspire against us don’t they? I hope your massage is as relaxing and indulgent as it promises to be.
I hope October is kind to everybody and that the descent into Winter is not too rapid!
Wishing you all a pleasant day

Grandmadinosaur Fri 01-Oct-21 07:38:41

Good morning from grey, wet East Yorkshire.
I did walk to the railway station to see the steam train Tornado pass through early yesterday. It drew quite a few others too. It was a sight to behold and quite nostalgic. Silly really but it brought a tear to my eye. I didn’t take a photo but took a video.
Afterwards I walked into the village and had a coffee and a naughty toasted teacake.

No plans for today. I need to do a food shop
at some point and we have GS coming after school.
* Ash* welcome home.
Thinking of you both Grandmattie and harrigran and anyone else with troubles.
Take care all.

brook2704 Fri 01-Oct-21 07:39:40

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s dry just now but rain definitely on the way
Good that everything got sorted quickly yesterday grandMattie I hope you enjoy your well deserved relaxing massage, what a kind thought from your DD
Good that your DD is there with you now harrigran I hope that extra bit of support helps in some way
A busy day ahead, I’m helping DD2 with some housework this morning and then at the hairdressers this afternoon. Just a colour to cover up the grey roots and a trim.
Happy Birthday to your stepfather Urmston and to your daughter Susan hope they both have lovely days ???
Hope everyone finds a little something to enjoy today, take care all whatever the day brings ?

brook2704 Fri 01-Oct-21 07:45:02

Nothing naughty about a toasted tea cake grandmadino I’d have done the same!
I’m pleased you enjoyed seeing the steam train too - a touch of nostalgia is really nice sometimes

Gingster Fri 01-Oct-21 07:47:27

Good morning all and it’s damp and chilly here in Essex.

My dog walking pal cancelled our walk today , so I shall make use of the time and shop for our family get together on Sunday.
We are meeting our friends for the usual Friday lunch in a country pub. I don’t think we’ll be sitting outside today, ?.

I went to my art group yesterday - first time since before Christmas last year. It was lovely to see all the regulars and had a good chat whilst we worked on our ‘masterpieces’ .

Ash take care on the last stage of your journey ?

GM I’m glad you got your problems sorted. Enjoy the massage. ?.

I’m trying to get my Dh to arrange a doctors appointment for various reasons. He won’t do it. I offered to go up to the surgery at 6.40 am to queue for an appointment as the phone system is hopeless , but he’s adament he won’t go. ?
Fairview keep trying!

Wishing you all a pleasant day.
????

Grandmadinosaur Fri 01-Oct-21 07:50:47

Thank you brook it’s only when too many things like that pass my lips which they are at the moment! I have put on a lot of weight in the last few months and need a big push to rectify it.

NannyJan53 Fri 01-Oct-21 07:52:20

Good morning from a very damp but brighter Black Country

Just back from Sainsburys petrol station, where there were only 2 other cars, but no Diesel and lots of nozzles were closed off. At least I have enough to last me a month now, as I was getting very low.

We had our garage roof re-done 2 weeks ago, as it had been leaking at the front for a while. After heavy rain yesterday, there is again damp patches at the front! So a call to the roofer methinks!

Sounds like 'one of those days' yesterday grandMattie which is something you certainly don't need at the moment. flowers

Glad you are back on dry land safely Ashcombe my idea of a nightmare! Out of interest, what is a locator form? Is it do do with us being out of the EU now?

Tonight we are going out out! To a venue near us (where we met in 2012) where there is a Stereophonics tribute band.

So pleased you now have the support of your DD harrigran

BlueSapphire Fri 01-Oct-21 07:56:14

Good morning from another damp day in Northampton.

We managed a short health walk yesterday evening, then 6 of us repaired to the pub for dinner and a drink. That was the last evening walk for this year; they start again next April. Of course the afternoon ones continue throughout the year.

Not much planned for today so I may have an outing to Sainsbury's/M&S Food this afternoon to break the day up. No cooking tonight as I have just got a home-made chicken curry out of the freezer, plus some stewing beef to thaw so I can leave a hotpot in the slow cooker while I am at rugby ? tomorrow.

Wishes to all for a pleasant day, especially harrigran and grandMattie. flowersflowers

Grandmajean Fri 01-Oct-21 08:00:54

Morning all
Off to a lodge at Mercia Marina this weekend with my SIL (who has just turned 70)and some friends. Everyone seems a bit tetchy with each other at the moment so not sure how it will pan out! Need to start getting ready, so hope you all have as good a day as you can. Take care x
