Ah, thank you.
Now, next week I am going to have a small piece of my lip removed. shock
It's all fun and games here.

BlueSky Wed 06-Oct-21 22:16:52

That’s it then I won’t have it done without sedation! Shame it was that bad MissA. flowers

Curlywhirly Wed 06-Oct-21 22:12:57

Glad it's done, but, if you have to have it again, INSIST on sedation!

MissAdventure Wed 06-Oct-21 22:06:22

It's done!
It was ruddy awful!
I never want to have that done to me again.
It was just one long session of retching.

Tea3 Wed 06-Oct-21 18:26:06

May7 Wed 06-Oct-21 16:21:53

See if they will give you a very light sedation just to calm you, I had one when I my cataract done even after they said no.

foxie48 Wed 06-Oct-21 16:04:40

I'm a bit confused, you are normally offered light sedation with an endoscopy, something like diazepam which is quick acting. I certainly drove myself home afterwards. I've also had a colonscopy, which tbh was quite uncomfortable so they increased the level of sedation (diazepam) and again I drove myself home. anyway, I hope it all went well and was not too painful.

MissAdventure Wed 06-Oct-21 16:00:33

I'm here now, at the hospital. sad
Waiting to be called in!

BlueBelle

I m afraid I was a coward with this and only had it with sedation It was a complete breeze no groggy feeling at all but I couldn’t face any of these sort of procedure without being sedated
They also tried the up the nose one without anything because he couldn’t find the spray and I nearly hit the roof

Knicker arrangements?.? blossoming do you know something we don’t know ?

No, I don’t. Miss Adventure asked a question, I answered.

vegansrock Wed 06-Oct-21 15:00:30

I was asked on the day whether I wanted sedation and said a definite yes. Before I knew it it was all over. Didn’t feel groggy at all.

Farmor15 Wed 06-Oct-21 14:32:04

MissAdventure did you have your gastroscopy? I see you’ve posted on a few threads so must be around!

Curlywhirly Tue 05-Oct-21 19:15:48

I have had 3 endoscopes - all with sedation (no problems at all, not groggy afterwards or nauseous). However the last one I had I was not sedated enough (no idea what went wrong), and during the latter part of the procedure, was aware of everything they were doing. I would say it was uncomfortable, (very similar to having dental work done) but nothing more. I can't believe that the hospital are not offering sedation; a work colleague attempted to have hers done without sedation, but just couldn't manage it, so they sedated her, there and then. Good luck MissAdventure - you have had a cesarean section and survived, this will be a walk in the park compared to that!

Calendargirl Tue 05-Oct-21 19:12:08

Good luck MissA, hope it goes well for you.

I had a sigmoidoscopy a few years ago, was very worried but it was ok. Can well imagine you are dreading it, but the thought of it is probably worse than the procedure.

Farmor15 Tue 05-Oct-21 16:51:23

annodomini if you suffer from stress incontinence, gagging/vomiting can cause leaking of urine. It's a particular problem if you have a tummy bug- have to sit on loo with bucket on knee- that way both ends are dealt withshock

MissAdventure Tue 05-Oct-21 16:50:07

It's quite normal with stress incontinence.
I'll wear a big pad.
Oh, my glamorous life! smile

annodomini Tue 05-Oct-21 16:39:46

Not sure why a gastroscopy should make you 'dribble' as it's at the 'other end'. I've had two without a sedative and would do so again if necessary. It's useful to be able to drive myself there and back.

Farmor15 Tue 05-Oct-21 16:33:13

Sorry - I missed the bit where you said you “dribble a bit”. In that case, wear a bigger pad and bring spare clothes, just in case! On the other hand, you could distract yourself doing pelvic floor exercises!

MissAdventure Tue 05-Oct-21 16:30:21

I'd better wear a canoe!

Farmor15 Tue 05-Oct-21 16:29:19

I suffer from stress incontinence and despite wearing a light pad, I found I was quite damp when I woke up from sedated gastroscopy. I assume I must have gagged/coughed during the procedure but this would only happen if you leak a bit when coughing normally.

MissAdventure Tue 05-Oct-21 16:27:12

Thanks all.
Trust me, if I could put it off and wait to go somewhere that does sedation, I would.
I shall think of you lot as I'm being "done".

Oh, good!
I can go into it dressed for piddling myself the occasion then.

Josianne Tue 05-Oct-21 16:20:13

If you mean dribble down below (?) can you wear a pad?

Josianne Tue 05-Oct-21 16:19:12

They give you those paper wipes for dribble like at the dentist.
