Looking forward to getting my Covid booster but our surgery says no news yet. Already had my flu jab a couple of weeks ago.
As Marydoll says, getting the jabs is a no brainer !

So the email has come and I clicked the link and booked it in for the end of the month . But I'm a tad nervous about it. I had no problems with pfyzer vaccines but just wondering if we really need the booster. Is this now an annual thing does anyone know, like the flu jab.
Has anyone had any issues or no issues even.

OH and I are having our booster and flu jab this afternoon.
Both myself and DH mysteriously caught Covid in August, despite being double jabbed and careful, not sure what the procedure will be with us. Possibly they’ll wait 6 months before giving us the booster?
Well I had mine about 3 weeks ago and was ok but I have learnt that because immunosuppressed I will have a 4th jab in four weeks time. I read somewhere that there has been a huge mess over those with who are immunosuppressed, it would seem that a letter was sent to all GP advising them that immunosuppressed person needed 4 vaccinations and to start them straight away. Then a week later a letter was sent about the need for the general public, over 65 to get their boosters and many GP seem to have forgotten about the immunosuppressed needs and just lumped them in with a 3rd jab. Anyway I am extremely lucky that we have a practice who are on top of their game with the vaccinations. So I would advise anyone who is immunosuppressed to get in touch with their dr or google for more information. Hope this all makes sense, I have brain fog this morning,
I'm having my booster vaccination today and am very pleased about it.
Barmeyoldbat, that's a shock. I'm in Scotland and knew nothing about that. As someone who is immunosuppressed, I have been told I need only one booster.
Thank you for the information.
I am having my booster next week at our local walk in center,I will be glad to have it as I have to attend the Eye Clinic every 8 weeks for injections to my left eye which are ongoing and I want to be as fully protected as I can be,for myself and others.
Hello all
Does anyone know if you get offered the flu jab when you get the booster?
I’m asking for DH, I’m not so bothered about me at the moment.
He’s got so many conditions that make him CEV (or even ECV, I can never remember which way it is).
I had a text from the GP surgery announcing that they are having a ‘drop-in clinic’ this Saturday for people to have their flu jab.
But I don’t think that is the safest environment for him.
I don’t know whether to book a flu one for him at Boots or similar, or wait to hear when he gets ‘called up’ for the booster.
I can’t understand why he hasn’t heard anything yet. I suppose I ought to ring the GP (again) really…
We have to phone in ourselves to ask for the flu jab. It has been this way for several years now. I always phone in late August.
I hope you manage to find out soon for DH.
I don't know if the flu jab is offered when you get your booster jab. In some places maybe?
It was the first I'd heard of it too, barmyoldbat and Marydoll
Here's some information

It would be a good idea for antibody tests to be offered to those who are immunosuppressed so that they could decide whether or not to have a 4th vaccine.

It is here, henetha but I have opted to have them separately.
Some of us got our flu vax two weeks before the covid booster, though a later group had them together. I think our practice got supplies of the flu vaccine before the covid supply arrived so just went ahead with the flu campaign. I was pleased to have them separately.
annodomini yes, thinking about it, separately does seem like a good idea

V3ra is correct about a possible shortage of flu vaccine. I had mine booked when a nursing friend said September was a bit too early to have a flu jab because it would be losing its efficiency when flu season really hits in January and February. I phoned to rebook and was told there might be a shortage so I kept the original booking. My vaccine booster is at the end of October because it will be just over 6 months since my second jab. I have read conflicting reports whether it is necessary but I am erring on the side of caution and having it in the hopes it gives me some added protection.
I don't think there's a shortage of flu vaccines, but Seqirus, the UK's biggest supplier, announced road freight problems last month, which caused some pre-booked appointments to be cancelled/postponed.
I had my flu vaccine a couple of weeks ago at the local pharmacy. I can't have my third Covid vaccine until mid November, which will be six months after my second dose. I'll be first in the queue.
Further to my post above, I’ve just read on the NHS website that you can book a Covid booster jab 4 weeks after a positive test. That’s good, I’ll wait to be contacted but won’t be as long as I thought. In case anybody else is in our predicament.
Can I just ask...are we called for the booster, as for vaccinations 1. and 2.? Or is it for us to book after 6 months?
DiscoDancer apparently you need to wait to be contacted unless you are a NHS front line or social worker.

Exactly the same with me, was offered the two together but declined the flu jab and will have that later..
Just want to add that I have been battling to get my 3rd Primary dose (for severely immunosuppressed) ever since it was announced by Savid Javid in early September. Having been sent round in circles, tell my GP - GP knows nothing - ask specialist for a letter - letter goes to GP - contact vaccine centre - its not a booster, its a 3rd Primary dose - vaccine centre knows nothing - contact GP - GP knows nothing.....
I finally emailed my Patient Advice and Liaison Services. I had a brief response, asking for further details then no more for a week until a letter with an appointment for the 3rd Primary dose this week. I assume I have PALS to thank for this but don't really know. I'm grateful to whoever is responsible.
I will still be eligible for the booster (4th vaccination but first booster). I have my fingers crossed that I develop some antibodies but will get myself tested in a few weeks time. If I even develop low levels of antibodies, I will celebrate otherwise not much will change. I am visiting close family only - pity they don't live nearby.
<my First jabs were Pfizer and so was my booster. I had a sore, heavy arm after the First two, got no reactions at all after the booster.
I can see no reason not to have it.
I don't want covid.
Thank you everyone. What an interesting read.
That was a good suggestion about anti. Body testing as I didn’t know I was immunosupprressed. It seems that it’s because I have been on steroids for 20 years plus but only a low dose so next week I am going to have a discussion with my Dr,
