Booster vaccine

Had my booster last week no ill effects, slightly sore arm, had AZ initially, booster Pfizer, had flu vaccine few days before.

Re Devon 'booster' jabs, I had mine on 22nd Sept in East Devon. I am immunosuppressed but my husband who is 81 yrs got his on 6th Oct. I suppose it depends where you are.
He got an NHS letter, I got a phone call from my Consultants office saying "go get jabbed now" popped down to the Vaccination Centre and was jabbed 15 minutes after the phone call.
After reading the posts on here perhaps that was my 3rd jab not a booster because as I booked in in the car park and said "I've come for my booster" the man said we"re not calling it Booster just a 3rd jab! I had 2 Astraz. and the last one was a Pfizer.

I’ve not heard anything yet about mine. In our area, some people have been sent appointments at non-existent vaccine centres.

I felt fine with my booster, as I did with the first two vaccines. I’d say go for it! We need to beat this monster and immunisation is the way forward. I’ve never had any problems with flu jabs either. As far as I’m concerned if the doctors I work for are eager to have a vaccine then I am too. I have never heard any of them express any doubts about the covid or the flu one and they are the ones with the medical knowledge.

I had my booster 2 weeks ago. My arm was quite sore later that evening and I was very very tired for about 2 days and I did have a headache. My son also had very similar symptoms after his so if any one suffers these side affects they seem to be quite common. I think it is worth it especially as I am CEV,

All 3 of mine have been Pfizer, bad reaction to no 2 and 3 but would do it again, husband has only one working lung if I gave him covid he would probably die. He's having his third next week, first 2 AZ and the first one gave him a heart condition, on life time blood thinners, but again for him, beats the alternative.

Foghornleghorn, you appear to have misunderstood my post. Perhaps you have missed that some of us posting are immunosuppressed. We are not receiving a booster, we require a stronger dose than a booster. There appears to be a difference.

I had the third Pfizer in my left arm and the flu vaccine in my right on Saturday. The Pfizer has been sore, red and hot for four days and is only just going down today. A minor inconvenience compared with the benefit.

I have had my Pfizer booster about two weeks ago. I had a very sore arm which lasted about 3 day's and tired for 24 hours. Flu jab next week.

Exactly the same timings as my mum ( 91 )
I am so glad that she has had her booster before I see on FB that any 'friends' in the NHS are having theirs ( I am talking about those who are still sat behind computer screens doing their consultations). Was appalled at the beginning of the year when such staff were being double jabbed before my 91 year old mum. Good luck with your flu jab.

There are quite a few articles about this online, but I found this explanation easy to understand.

It can help protect people with weakened immune systems who did not have a strong enough response to the first two doses of one of the mRNA vaccines. Such people can get a third dose as soon as 28 days after a second dose. The FDA has authorized, and the CDC recommends, that those with certain medical conditions that suppress the immune system get a third dose of the same brand of COVID-19 vaccine that they initially received.

If I understand this correctly, a third vaccination is the same brand as the first two, a booster must be a different one.

No. The booster does not have to be a different brand. You will get Pfizer, or in some cases Moderna, regardless of what you have had previously.

DH and I had our boosters today. We had the Astra Zeneca first time and today we had the Pfizer. We were informed by text message a week ago with reminders on Monday. We had our flu jabs a couple of months ago. The only difference today was that with the AZ we were allowed to go straight home after but today we had to sit for 15 minutes with timers in our hands.

Had my Flu jab last week, now awaiting a text or call about my booster vaccine, I don't expect it to be till end of month. I had the AZ vaccines previously but don't mind which it is this time. I don't usually have reactions to any vaccines. I fully expect (and hope) that booster jabs will be repeated annually for some years to come, at least until the world has gained some control over this awful virus.

Well I had my flu jab today but was told I couldn’t have the booster until the end of the month, the message saying to book both was wrong! I’m quite relieved, I didn’t fancy having both on the same day.

I have had three Pfizer jabs. I queried it and was told all the boosters are Pfizer and it’s fine.

Here in Devon we've been told they gave no idea when boosters will be available

I had my booster vaccine (Pfizer) last Sunday . I felt slightly ill for one day and had a sore arm for one day but otherwise I am fine .
I had covid and was hospitalised for over a week in November 2020 and am now glad to have any protection I am offered . I’m even going to have the flu jab for the first time this year . If the covid jab is offered annually I will be having it . My first 2 vaccines were also Pfizer by the way .

I had the Pfizer vaccine about 8 months ago, and got a flu shot a few days ago. My doctor recommended waiting two weeks between the flu shot and the Covid booster. So that's what I'm doing.

I had a flu-like reaction to the second Covid shot last winter, nothing life-threatening, just unpleasant. But I definitely want to get the booster anyway. My doctor says the strength of the antibodies fall off after a while. It will probably be an annual event, like the flu shot.

Covid booster tomorrow, flu jab on Saturday. Yippee.

Son in law has no immunity after two jabs , be interesting to see if he gets it back after booster

I work for the NHS. Had AZ first and last week I had a booster of P in my right arm and flu jab in the left arm at the same time.
