Grannygravy ? Definitely soup. I've made pumpkin pie in the past and always found it bland. I have two little pumpkins so not enough meat to do anything with.
Thank you Tilly. And to all the other lovely kitcheners. Today is fairly busy. I'll visit mum then I'm heading to son's flat to check mail and clean his bathroom. Tonight is a craft class where I'll be painting on glass and ceramic, probably badly. I'll check in the kitchen later.

Another day with nothing planned today.Third in a row.Unheard of for us lately.The rain has helped with our inertia as it is stopping work in the garden.

Barnaby’s Covid test was thankfully negative.It is his last week at playgroup this week before he starts nursery at big boys school after half term.Hopefully he will be well enough to go to playgroup tomorrow??

Good morning lovely Kitcheners. Unrelenting rain here so far today. I read in the Good Morning thread that harrigran’s OH passed away this morning. I feel so sorry for her sad loss, she has nursed him for so long throughout his final illness. This past month has been a sad one in Gransnet.

That is very sad news and harrigran will feel bereft.
She did all she could and more. I hope she finds peace now that her DH has finally gone to rest. ?

I think many are experiencing the heavy downpours and high winds which are apparently coming in this direction later today. I will enjoy the sunshine because it will not be here for long.

There were supposed to be thunderstorms during the night- I would not know, only a cat's whimper would wake me.

My condolences also to Harrigran- 58 years of marriage is a long time. There is a lot of sorrow on GN at present.

On a lighter note, I sent my driving licence for renewal at the end of August- I wonder if its return will be an unexpected Christmas present? I had to send a new mugshot so I could not renew it online.

Well the thunder was far away last night. MrM said he heard a distant rumble. The sun is back today and I’ve just enjoyed my walk through the woods with Mya, albeit a muddy one. She’s very thankful the rain has now stopped. Had to almost drag her out of the door yesterday. I did all MrM's necessary jobs outside yesterday as he’d had enough of treading around puddles in his sandals.

It would be soup for me too GG13 with a dollop of harissa or tahini. I've used pumpkin puree to make rum and raisin ice cream (Hairy Dieter’s Book). Sorry, Hairy Bikers. I love so many of their recipes but that was not very nice.

My thoughts are with Harrigran. This is such news with which to start a new day.

As a direct result of the host of bad feelings that have infiltrated our kitchen very recently, I shall be taking a day to reflect. We should be supporting each other. Differences of opinion should be respected. There is a bloody lot of mischief spoiling the concept of this kitchen. I am truly saddened by it and the loss of Granspals that I have much respect for.

I shall return tomorrow.

When I was in a really bad place the kitchen was where I came to gain comfort. I still pop in from time to time but the tone has changed. I do hope it changes back to the comforting, accepting place it was.

I'd not seen mention of Harri's loss before. It has stopped me in my tracks. My thoughts are with her.

Kind thoughts to SueD and GtandmaB and all who are finding life hard going just now for whatever reason. So much sadness both within and outside of the GN community.

‘Evening All’.

A busy evening and we’re back home after school pick up, quick teatime for the smalls of our family, then off to swimming lessons. Honestly the showers & changing cubicles are an absolute bear garden! And when we got them home we did supper time tonight too as mum & dad were having parents evening in the main room on Zoom. We’ve earned our stripes tonight!

Himself is just settling down to watch the Man. Utd match some Europa game. Who knows, not me. I’ve got fish fingers in the oven, almost ready. They will be put onto buttered Warburton’s white bread and topped with tartare sauce. Food of the gods indeed. Eat your heart out Delia.

muse the film I watched is one in my top 5. It is ‘Amour’. I absolutely love it & watch it a couple of times a year. A highly recommended one ladies. It’s French, won loads of awards years ago (the Palm D’or and 3 other European awards) and has English sub titles.

Soop it seems to me that this cosy kitchen has regained its equilibrium today.

My final two Xmas puds are in the slow cooker and they’ll be wrapped and put away tomorrow. Ds2 will doubtless take one with him, baggage allowance permitting , when he comes to visit and so will ds1, in Dec. Ditto cakes.

We went to Sainsbury’s this afternoon. I had planned to do an online order but decided to go out on what is supposedly the last reasonably decent day before the weather turns. £100 doesn’t go far nowadays, does it? Something I spotted in there was a change machine that you put coins into and it gives you notes back. We found a tin of small change during our garage turn-out. It weighs a tonne and I’d been pondering on what to do with it. Problem now solved! I suspect it used to be ds2’s but I shan’t be giving him the money I get back.

My poorly friend has had some dialysis treatment and has responded well to it, so here’s hoping things might be less gloomy. I do appreciate all your thoughts, though rightly, they belong to her so I pass them on, in my mind.

I’ve just come across the sad news about Harrigran’s husband on here, and I offer you my condolences Harrigran. I remember some years ago when you were going through a serious illness yourself, from which I hope you have fully recovered. There are so many sad posts on here at the moment.
