Do you mind if a thread de-rails after it has been running for a while and extends into other areas? I would have thought this was a natural progression of any discussion and sometimes the original subject returns with new light cast on it. It certainly seems in my opinion an odd reason for deleting any thread.

Have found the ne'er do well who deleted the thread despite their cunning disguise.

Yeah, he definitely looks like the culprit Scones! grin

Scones

Have found the ne'er do well who deleted the thread despite their cunning disguise.

Hah, gotcha you ne’er do well.

I’m wondering about a T shirt like the one’s worn in the 70’s, you know a woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle, a mother’s place is in the world etc etc. Should I wear a Terfs shirt, I don’t feel like a terf but if the insult was used on the deleted thread, maybe I am

Galaxy Sun 24-Oct-21 20:19:07

You would be better with a dinosaur t shirt they are all the rage amongst gender critical people, someone must be making a fortune.

Doodledog Sun 24-Oct-21 20:23:44

Yes, what’s that about? Women becoming extinct?

trisher Sun 24-Oct-21 20:29:18

TERF wasn't used as an insult. The feminist organisation Make More Noise was being discussed. They proudly identify and label themselves as TERFs. I believe the question asked was did anyone on GN do the same.

JaneJudge Sun 24-Oct-21 20:33:44

It is used as an insult and it used to silence women

Smileless2012 Sun 24-Oct-21 20:37:05

hmm so how was the questioned framed trisher I mean was it asked in such a way as to imply that there were GN's who are TERFS?

What was it about the content of posts that made the person who asked, think there maybe anyone on GN who may identify with, or label themselves in this way. Up until we went out last night, I hadn't seen anything whatsoever that would have made the question justified.

Chewbacca Sun 24-Oct-21 20:40:43

The poster, if I remember correctly, said that they "had no problem with anyone being a TERF but they should come out and own up to it".

Galaxy Sun 24-Oct-21 20:43:16

The deletion wont have been to do with the t word.
It's to do with David Lammys view of women doodle. Bless him.

Galaxy Sun 24-Oct-21 20:44:21

Just to be clear I was talking about the dinosaurs I dont think David Lammy got the thread deleted grin

VioletSky Sun 24-Oct-21 20:53:22

Makemorenoise are self described "terfs" so people might not want to align themselves with them.

JaneJudge Sun 24-Oct-21 21:07:08

I'm apparently a terf though for suggesting I don't want to be cis and I don't want a man that self id as a woman do my severely disabled daughters personal care

I suppose the cap may fit?

trisher Sun 24-Oct-21 21:20:48

I only know the last question I asked was about them calling women whose husbands transitioned Transwidows. I thought it was a bit much.
More bunny pictures? This thread is going to go!

JaneJudge Sun 24-Oct-21 21:22:52

I have looked at a lot of rabbits today to be fair grin maybe more than I have ever looked at

trisher Sun 24-Oct-21 21:23:07

cat for a change

FarNorth Sun 24-Oct-21 21:23:52

A lot of people would describe perfectly reasonable views about biological sex, as seen often on GN, as being terfy.
And would describe the people holding those views as terfs.
Many feminists are happy to take the stance "Yes, I am a terf if that means someone who understands what biological sex is, and supports women's rights."

Chewbacca Sun 24-Oct-21 21:26:30

I see your cat and I raise you with a kitten....

VioletSky Sun 24-Oct-21 21:29:29

I am not sure if it really works as an insult but to be clear, because people view it as one there is no way I would use it as one and risk alienating people I actually genuinely like and have time for even though we don't agree on trans issues.

Why do you think it's a bit much?
The men those women were married to no longer answer to their 'deadnames' because they claim those people don't exist anymore.
The women therefore feel that they are widows.
The women call themselves that, they were not named it by anyone else.

FarNorth Sun 24-Oct-21 21:42:26

I was looking for a cute pic but found these.
I'll keep looking for a cute one.

Doodledog Sun 24-Oct-21 21:44:48

And to suggest that it is ‘a bit much’ for those women to choose their own name for the condition imposed on them, whilst simultaneously insisting that transpeople have the right to change the language in the name of inclusivity is deeply ironic, surely?

Ah, thanks, Galaxy ?

Chewbacca Sun 24-Oct-21 21:45:02

Very much better than any "cute kitty" pics FarNorth thanks for sharing.

Chewbacca Sun 24-Oct-21 21:48:02

Doodledog. a very valid point but I don't think TAs and their supporters do irony.
