Hello Durga. Welcome.

Nannytopsy Fri 29-Oct-21 14:10:12

Hello Durga ! I haven’t seen your name before - how are things in North Carolina?

Durga Fri 29-Oct-21 12:14:23

Good morning from grey and wet North Carolina. Love this blog. No matter where we live we have much the same thoughts.

PollyTickle Fri 29-Oct-21 11:30:23

Good morning all from the wettest Anglesey I’ve ever experienced.
Happy anniversary Ash and od, your celebration at the the ballet sounds amazing.
Love the children’s comments grandmadinosaur and Urms. Reminded me when six year old granddaughter was learning about the i before e rule, her grandpa pointed out that horses don’t agree, as in neigh. ‘But it’s i before anything and anyone in my world grandpa’. Fortunately she soon grew out of that attitude.
Have a flamingo filled day everyone ?

Gwenisgreat1 Fri 29-Oct-21 10:25:47

Good Morning all from damp and dreary Harrogate.
Happy Anniversary to Ashcombe and Olddudders glad you enjoyed the ballet.
Today my DD1, SIL, and DGD travel back from a break in the Lake District where they seem to have missed the brunt on the weather there, I'll not relax until they are safely back! I think it was about 5 years ago we were staying near Penrith early November and we were practically snowed in - everywhere looked beautiful, but so chilly. we had the use of a hot tub, but it remained with the lid firmly on topped by about 4 inches of snow!!
Today will be a nothingness day, yesterday baked cakes for DGSs birthday (they are in the freezer ready to be iced).
I'm wondering if I have long covid, every so often I had days when I feel drained, like today, next day will be fine?
Hope everyone has as good a day as they can!

hollysteers Fri 29-Oct-21 10:22:24

Good morning Mick and all from a sunny Lancashire coast. Nice to have something to look forward to Mick, I love the IOW.
Tired today after walking around the nearby city most of yesterday. First visit to Cat Cafe. The cats didn’t seem too interested as probably get so much attention. One kept biting me if I tried to stroke it! The weather so mild too. Visited two old fashioned independent bookshops full of character and bought a few books which I need like a hole in the head, the house exploding with books.
Rehearsal this afternoon with the ‘band’ but it’s going to be an effort…
Congratulations Ashcombe and thoughts to those with troubles.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 29-Oct-21 10:15:10

harrigran tiny steps, be gentle on yourself ????

ginny Fri 29-Oct-21 10:09:06

Good morning. I thought I had posted earlier but obviously forgot to press ‘post’ !
Back from an enjoyable break so sorting out and bits and bobs to do. Some correspondence to sort out and May mix up the Christmas cake.
Weather is damp and breezy so will have to force myself to go out or maybe not .
Hope Friday provides you all with a smile.

harrigran Fri 29-Oct-21 10:03:17

Good morning from a wet and windy NE.
Did not sleep well and feel quite dreadful, I think it may be the after effects of the adrenaline that was keeping me functioning for the last few weeks.
DD went home yesterday afternoon and DS and family came and cooked dinner. My GDs are a great comfort.

aggie Fri 29-Oct-21 09:59:09

Good Morning everyone, it’s not actually raining here but so damp it might as well be mizzling
The Neighbours are packing the caravan for a weekend in Co Fermanagh , now this County is not the driest at the best of times , I am trying not to look sceptical!
Have as good a day as possible xxx

EkwaNimitee Fri 29-Oct-21 09:56:06

Good morning Mick and everyone from darkish damp Carlisle. The horrendous amounts of rain mostly came down during the night before last. Carlisle seems to have been spared flooding this time but it's been a close thing in Cockermouth. Apparently, Sellafield workers needing to go home southwards, were advised to do so via the A66 and the M6. Look at the map, people! That's halfway round the county.
I had to go out in it yesterday, I had a hospital appointment for a bloodletting to lower my iron stores. The way lies past Carrs biscuit factory in a low lying area prone to flooding but no sign of that thankfully. I felt a bit lightheaded all evening as though the blood had been removed from that area, it's mostly imagination, with which I am over-supplied.
Today, nothing much except a Tesco delivery in the late afternoon. Too damp for gardening, too dark for picture hanging, it may well be my new book and a bit of baking.
Happy anniversary to you, Ashcombe and Olddudders and the best possible day to all.

luluaugust Fri 29-Oct-21 09:48:38

Good morning all, windy and rainy here in W Kent. DGD, 15, still fast to sleep so catching up on bits round the house.

Blossoming Fri 29-Oct-21 09:46:44

Happy Anniversary to Ashcombe and OldDudders

Kim19 Fri 29-Oct-21 09:42:51

Morning everyone! So heartening to read all your various goings on. Thanks for sharing. My highlight of the day (excuse the pun) will be a hairdo. Life in the fast lane, eh?! ?

Blossoming Fri 29-Oct-21 09:39:15

Good morning all, it’s sunny here right now which is surprising! The forecast for today is rain and more rain. My arm is very sore after my Covid booster and I can’t lift it very much. Getting dressed was ‘interesting’. So I won’t be doing much today. Slightly fuzzy head, but none of the horrible symptoms I had last time. It really was quite a trek from the accessible parking to the vaccination centre, so I did the recommended 30 minutes daily walking by the time we were done and on the way home. Mr. B is off to the dentist this morning as he has had toothache since Wednesday night.

Have a peaceful Friday all.

Nannagarra Fri 29-Oct-21 09:38:28

Good morning from windswept Sefton.
Knowing that our six months since vax 2 is almost up, DH has been trying to make an online booking for our boosters. Luckily we are not immunocompromised. The computer said no to both of us yesterday morning but gave me the nod in the afternoon. As it goes dark on Hallowe’en, someone will approach me with a needle…I’m so pleased.
Thinking of those celebrating and those who need some TLC.
Have the best day you can everyone. ???

Nannytopsy Fri 29-Oct-21 09:17:47

Good morning Mick and all his followers. Grey and breezy in our part of Suffolk after a much nicer sunrise. I want to get on with bedrooms this morning then get in the garden after lunch. Hotel Topsy has a booking next weekend for friends who are very keen gardeners, so I want to get everything looking at its best!
Happy Anniversary to the Ashcombes and such a disappointment Dragonfly. I hope everyone manages to shake this cold off. IoW sounds good for Christmas Mick.
We had our boosters 36 hours ago and so far there haven’t been any side effects. ? Now I must book a flu vaccination.
I hope the day is kind to everyone.

Urmstongran Fri 29-Oct-21 09:16:49

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s dry at present and the weak sun is shining. We do have heavy rain forecast for later today.

Himself has a routine dental appointment this morning followed by a hygienist appointment so we may need to take out a second mortgage. He will join my later minding the Boy Wonder & L’il Miss as their parents are off on the train (from across the road here ha!) into Manchester for a fancy dan restaurant lunch - one of those 7 course ‘taster’ jobs. They are very much looking forward to the experience. I’d rather have one plate meal but then I’m a plain Jane sort.

I think as we’ve got the children until at least 4pm and it’ll be raining we will take them to TGI Fridays in the Trafford Centre. They love it there and it’s a nice treat for them on the last day of their half term.

HA Ashcombe & OD and that you enjoyed the ballet last night. Grandmadinosaur your ‘classical music’ comment made me lchu kale. The other day the Boy Wonder leaned across to me regarding his grandad being annoyed and said in a stage whisper ‘he’s a bit intense isn’t he?’. Made us all laugh! Kids eh?

BlueSapphire Fri 29-Oct-21 08:57:03

Good morning everyone from a wet and windy Northampton. Hope it clears up after lunch as I need to pick something up again from the Argos outlet in Sainsbury's.

Had a good ballet class yesterday where we were informed that we would be participating in a Silver Swanathon for Children in Need day in about three weeks. We started to learn the routine yesterday, but I fear I shall never remember it! Went for a coffee with a friend afterwards, who also kindly gave me a lift home.

A few jobs to do around the house this morning, then younger DGD will be arriving after lunch for her overnight stay. Mum and older DGD are off to see a show in London. She will come to Sainsbury's with me and we shall probably pop into the cafe for a drink and cake. Then home to make her favourite Spag Bol.

Hope today is good to all.

Good Morning from the Scottish Borders. It's just light rain today.
Yesterday I went for a walk with my intrepid pal and got drenched but we told ourselves that skin is waterproof and I felt lovely and warm once back indoors.
I have begun taking Vitamin D again as I am convinced that everyone in Scotland needs extra.
Such a shame to have to cancel the nice things Dragonfly get better soon.

You certainly had an adventure in that rain Stilllearning. Hope you are cosy now. Did the family get back OK?
The Gaelic for heavy rain is uisge leantainneach which literally translates as continuous water

I am glad you both enjoyed the celebration ballet Ash & OldD

Your mention of Bembridge Oopsa reminded me that I lived there for a short time when I was a small child and attended the village school. Memories flood back!

Yoga this morning and lots of things and people to attend to/pay for/write to etc.

The ballet cardigan I knitted for DGD arrived just in time for her first class and fitted perfectly with grow room.

Hoping all who are poorly or down find a flamingo today. The plug is perfect ?? Baubles

NannyJan53 Fri 29-Oct-21 08:52:03

Good morning from a dull and wet Black Country.

Arrived back Wednesday evening from our few days away in the caravan. It was lovely as DS and family were there, and we all went out for a meal Tuesday to celebrate their 16th wedding anniversary.

Iceland is on my list to visit. Not sure if I will ever get there thought.

I came home with a cold though! Have done a LFT and that was negative, but felt really rough the last couple of days. I had planned to go with Mum today for her Booster jab, but thought I had better not.

Happy Anniversary Ashcombe and OldDudders it is brilliant that you can spend it together.

A day spent indoors I think.

Have a great Friday everyone. With special thoughts of harrigran

Morning one and all it’s pretty windy out behind those curtains today along with the rain. It’s not so dark as previous days have been.

I think at last perhaps the lurgy is wanting to leave me I may have passed it on to my dh. He too has just finished his steroids and antibiotics hope he doesn’t carry it for the great length of time most of my cronies have had it.

I think it’ll be a jammy day where I’m going to stay nice and cosy. Must wear my bra though can’t do without it I may have a visitor today and must look perky. ??

Keep cosy everyone have a good end of the week smile

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Mapleleaf has our South Yorkshire weather bang to rights! A disturbed night here - I drank Diet Pepsi yesterday evening and forgot what it does to my bladder, and DH had to get up and change his pyjama top twice because he was sweating so much. GS and his parents come back from a few days in Whitby today. Despite all the rumblings of discontent from him prior to going, he enjoyed himself (“I tried mussels, Nanny, and samphire!”). Quite the foodie these days. He has booked a room at Hotel Duster for tonight, so we will hear all about it.
Sorry to hear you are under the weather Corner. Hope you pick up soon.
I hope Friday is kind to one and all.

Mapleleaf Fri 29-Oct-21 08:31:40

Happy anniversary Ashcombe and olddudders ??.
So pleased you had a lovely evening last night.

Stilllearning Fri 29-Oct-21 08:31:20

Morning from a still dark S Lanarkshire. Made it home yesterday courtesy of daughter and son in law who between them drove both my car and their own over a single track back road up round Tinto, our local hill, and down into my town. My car has it’s MOT today on the last day possible so it had to be got to the garage, lesson learned re leaving things to the last minute. It actually was booked for last week but unforeseen circumstances prevented that.
Both main routes between their home and mine were closed due to flooding.
The journey was horrible and I certainly couldn’t have done it.

Happy anniversary to Ashcombe and Olddudders, thank goodness you have managed to be together for it, enjoy your day!

Hope you don’t have too bad a day baubles and recover soon.
Lovely unusual plug!

I may join my friends for lunch today if the trains keep running. One of our group’s husband, who suffers from dementia, has just got a place in a specialist club for four hours on a Friday and she is looking forward to having a nice break.

Thinking of all those struggling today and sending good wishes???
