I had someone ringing me yesterday ,and I could hear them but they could not hear me properly , mind you phone is over 10 years old ,and think maybe technology has updated things .

Good morning all from a dry, bright, chilly East Yorkshire.

Yesterday I had a lovely lunch with DIL. We had lasagne at an Italian then craftily went to the coffee shop 2 doors away for tea and cake as the cakes there are gorgeous. I had a coconut and pineapple cake. It was delicious. The taste of the coconut took me back to the one my grandma used to make.
After school we played dominoes and snap with dgs and then keepy uppy with a balloon.
Today I will do a food shop at some point and might have a trip into the city centre. I showed dgs the items I’d bought for Christmas and he said about the snowman I’d bought is it for me? Well it wasn’t ... I’ll go and get another one ? soft Grandma.

Get well soon Notagran
Enjoy Poole and the fireworks Jaxjacky

Take care all.

Gwen, I know what you mean about prednisolone.
On one occasion, my Head Teacher asked if I had been drinking, I was so manic! I could do the job of half a dozen teachers. The insomnia is awful, my brain was constantly buzzing.
Hope you feel the benefits soon.

Good morning from a beautiful sunny Leicestershire.

Our Covid family are still suffering, DS has the chills and DiL lost her sense of taste. She found the DC in bed together yesterday and the 6 year old was reading to the 3 year old!

DH and I had hearing tests yesterday. DH was sent away with a flea in his ear - he has too much wax and needs to go back in 2 weeks for them to remove it.
I found I the reason I thought there were fewer birds around was that I have not been hearing them so will definitely invest in aids.

The University have cancelled the fireworks this year which is a pity as we usually watch them from home!

I hope everyone has the best day possible.

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Good morning, all from a chilly but fine Torbay.

Thank you for your concern when I missed posting yesterday, Susan56. We were late waking then had the delightful surprise at 8.00 p.m. of receiving a blood test result by text from my GP for a sample only taken at 4.00 pm the previous day! Marvellous service! My sodium levels are now normal and I'm back on the water tablet which seems to suit me.

I hope your phone is soon sorted out, Mick and the IoW delivers all for which you are hoping, Kim19. Your friend is lucky to have your company, grandMattie.

I do hope you make good progress with your recovery, NotAGran and that your SiL isn’t too poorly. Tough times. I guess younger teachers have grown up with technology so are more able to take the demands of the job in their stride, Marydoll. I certainly am glad to have retired!

The completion of this post was interrupted by a phone call from our local constabulary to offer support following the egg incident on Hallowe'en. The officer was most helpful although he must have thought it was an interesting arrangement when DH explained, when he answered, that he was a guest although married to me (I was on the loo at the time!)

Wishing you all as good a day as possible! ?????

Good morning from a bright and frosty day in Northampton. 1°C this morning and frost everywhere, but can't go out as I am still isolating. No Covid symptoms yet thank goodness; I did a PCR test yesterday, so waiting on the results - will do another lateral flow test this morning.

Just more of the same routine today: reading, knitting and a few household jobs to be done. Did a bit of on-line Christmas shopping yesterday - found a lovely cardigan for DD from Joules, and got my Christmas stamps in with my Sainsbury's order. I need to find out what is on the DGDs' Christmas lists.

Will now go back and read everything. Hoping today is kind to us all.

Good morning everyone from cloudy North Wales.
Just my usual walk this morning and should really sort my wardrobe out later. So many clothes I no longer wear.
Hope notagran feels better soon.
Wishing everyone a good day and thinking of those who are not well today or have worries or sadness.

Good morning Mick and all his followers. It’s dry and sunny in Suffolk this morning after a few wet days. First job is the plant the front garden bank with ground cover. I have cotoneasters, a spreading little buddleia, ilex, hellebores and geraniums. Then I shall hang up the tools for a week or two and get on with inside jobs.
It’s DS’s 5th wedding anniversary today, so we shall nip over for a few minutes with a card and cash for a meal out.
Best wishes to all the Covid sufferers in your families and I hope the day is kind to everyone.

Correction: the text regarding my blood test result arrived at 8.00 a.m yesterday!! Losing the plot….! ?

Grammaretto Fri 05-Nov-21 08:58:57

Good Morning from another sunny day in the Scottish Borders.
I went to bed last night sneezing and shivery but feel fine today. It must have been the uisge breatha I took for medical reasons .

The 2nd photo is beautiful Jaxjacky
We will fire some pottery in the outdoor kiln today. It seems appropriate for Nov 5th.

I drove my DMiL to an hotel in Edinburgh for afternoon tea yesterday. It was lovely but since I last drove into the city most of the roads have been dug up and it's a maze of diversions. She, at 96, was trying to keep me right too. grin

Have as best a day as you can everyone.

Stilllearning Fri 05-Nov-21 09:01:57

Morning from my bit of S Lanarkshire, weather just as baubles said.

Had my face to face appointment with a doctor yesterday which left me with mixed feelings. All of the doctors at our practice are new and regularly changing, we have actually been named as being one of the contributors to difficulties at the local A&E department which is not surprising to anyone who tries to use our surgery.
I actually felt really sorry for the doctor who saw me, he looked exhausted and in fact stood all through my (short) appointment, presumably ready to race on to the next patient.
I can’t say I felt reassured when I left, perhaps more resigned to the way things are and grateful that I have family who are ‘keeping an eye’ on me!

Happy for your news Marydoll, onwards and upwards with Dollie!

Thinking of all with difficulties and worries today and wishing everyone the best day possible ???

harrigran Fri 05-Nov-21 09:08:41

Good morning from a mild and dry NE, it is warmer than it was at noon yesterday.
DS kept me company yesterday, we watched all three episodes of Shetland on iplayer.
GDs came after school and we had a meal together, they left fairly soon after as they have a 45 minute drive home.
Busy day, washer on with lots of table cloths and tea towels from extra visitors this week. I will iron this afternoon which I really don't mind.
DD and SIL will return this evening after 48 hour break from me.
Not heard many fireworks this year, I am hoping it will be a quiet evening.

Jaxjacky Fri 05-Nov-21 09:11:30

Good news on the sodium front Ashcombe ?

PollyTickle Fri 05-Nov-21 09:20:25

Good morning all from Anglesey, dry and overcast, could do with a gust of wind to clear the last of the leaves from the trees, eight massive bags of them so far, we’ll have a wonderfully mulched garden in two years.
Had a fabulous day yesterday, only went as far our local totally deserted beach, tucked in to the cliff side on our beach chairs, rugs over knees like two old fogies.
Prack opened up the esky and produced lovely egg sandwiches, hot sausage rolls, my favourite carrot cake and, to top it all off, a flask of brandy laced coffee.
A stroll along the beach afterwards completed a perfect day.
Feel better soon GrannyGravy, notagran, all the COVID warriors, children who are off colour and anyone needing a hug.
Can I be a bit lazy this morning and lump everyone together for good wishes. A random pink flamingo for every lovely person on this thread.
?

GrannySomerset Fri 05-Nov-21 09:22:33

Waiting for the stronger painkillers and anti-inflammatories to kick in so that I can get DH up and sorted and the dishwasher unloaded. Treating myself like a delicate plant is unnatural but not much option. Fortunately DH happy to listen to the radio in bed so that is helpful. Seeing another care company this afternoon in my search for some morning help, but carers seem to be rarer than hen’s teeth round here so am not very optimistic.

Delighted by the various snippets of good news this morning but very sympathetic to the various poorly families. This plague is never ending.

EkwaNimitee Fri 05-Nov-21 09:32:40

Good morning Mick and everyone from a rather dull Carlisle. Will it or won't it rain? Fortunately I have finished forking over my new border. Not an easy job as the original soil below has a lot of stones in it. I removed the large ones and also various bits left in by the builders including a dead glove. Now I'm eyeing up what bit of lawn is going next and thinking of what shrubs I might order.
I hope the phone problem is sorted Mick but I guess your current one is old for a piece of tech. I'm told my stuff is considered old at 6 years old but I like to hang on to things as long as possible, not so much for financial reasons but for environmental ones. However, yesterday I ordered a new watch as the battery in the current one has gone into terminal decline. I'm not replacing the battery as the watch was an old model when I bought it and thus the cheapest. At the time I didn't know whether I'd get on with a smartwatch but I have found it to be an important part of my existence. Yes, that sounds sad! I love my tech but actually I have spent much of my life without it. It was going back to work and using sophisticated tech all day that did it, I felt bereft when I retired and didn't last long before acquiring my very own computer.
Well, time to do some work and abandon the keyboard...have the best possible day everyone.

PollyTickle Fri 05-Nov-21 09:35:57

GrannySomerset, I do feel for you, I hope you are able to arrange some respite care and GrandpaSomerset is agreeable to it. You definitely need to recharge those batteries. flowers

hollysteers Fri 05-Nov-21 09:37:35

Good morning Mick and all from Cloudy Chambers Lancashire coast. Hope you get your phone sorted soon Mick, very frustrating.
Off to art group then ‘band’ practice this afternoon. Felt strange yesterday after flu jab and went to bed at 9 30 after dropping off in the middle of Sex Life on Netflix (like Cold Feet but more shocking?)
Will read through tonight
Have a good day

GrannySomerset Fri 05-Nov-21 09:44:18

Thank you, Polly. Movement now possible so need to stop playing on Gransnet and do something useful.

aggie Fri 05-Nov-21 09:47:25

Good Morning Mick and everyone, it’s cold here , but that might be cos I’m wearing a T-shirt , I need a cardi !
I’ve spotted some plants dead in their pots so today’s task is to empty them into the brown bin , wash the pots and store for next year , I have tried overwintering Geraniums with poor results so now just treat them as annuals
I know they are called something else , but I can’t spell it ! And predictive texts has no idea either ?

Susan56 Fri 05-Nov-21 10:20:31

Good news about the blood test results Ash?

GeeGee12 Fri 05-Nov-21 16:38:56

Good afternoon/evening to you all.
My first time of posting but an ardent follower and feel you are all friends as I recognise all of your names.
For a few moments there was a ball of red in my craft room from the setting sun, it looked lovely.
I hope you all have a lovely evening.

Marydoll Fri 05-Nov-21 16:40:42

Welcome, Gee,Gee. Where are you posting from?
