Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark, dry and cold outside .
Time to start wearing thicker clothing , plans today , which will be busy ,a quick local shop for essentials, I will get a bus to Bicester at 9 for a couple of hours there, return get some Fish & Chips ,and this afternoon the BT engineer should arrive in time slot I chose.
I had someone ringing me yesterday ,and I could hear them but they could not hear me properly , mind you phone is over 10 years old ,and think maybe technology has updated things .
Take Care,
Mick

Hello Mick and all others who follow. Been thinking of you in particular, Mick, as today I will be on the IoW. I'll make sure it's spruced up for your Christmas visit. What a delightful up in temperature from when I left my lovely north. However, friends to see makes this trip so exciting. Long time....... Hope you all find today's highlight no matter how small.

Good Morning from a cold Severnside. On these sort of mornings it’s lovely to get back into bed with the first cup of tea and my bed jacket…all cosy.

I hope you get your phone sorted today Mick. I keep saying to myself about buying a new one but I hardly use it or get any calls. I did have a call yesterday and no one said anything when I answered.

Off to do the weekly shop this morning and see what delights I can find.
Take care all and I hope anyone under the weather feels better soon ???

grandMattie Fri 05-Nov-21 06:31:36

Good morning from a clear, dawning E Kent. Did anyone see the predicted Aurora in the wee small hours?
I’m taking my old friend out for coffee this morning. I’ve no idea where to take her as she complains wherever it is, and cafes are not that numerous in our area without travelling quite far.
I trust that you will all feel good today, the burden of sorrow, anxiety and pain reduces somewhat. Carpe diem ???????

Susan56 Fri 05-Nov-21 06:41:11

Good morning from Shropshire.

Another childcare day today.Hopefully Henry will be feeling better although DD has just messaged to say they have had a disturbed night with him.

Hoping Ash is ok and that all unwell are starting to feel better. Also that Sar’s granddaughter and all family members with Covid are improving. It’s such a worry.

Have the best day you can everyone??

NotAGran55 Fri 05-Nov-21 06:51:28

Good morning from chilly West Berkshire.

I’m feeling a bit sore today after having my gallbladder removed on Wednesday and an unexpected cyst behind my belly button, which is the most uncomfortable of the wounds.

My operation was transferred to a private hospital from the NHS, my first experience of ‘private’. It was lovely to have my own room and bathroom but other than that I can’t say there was any difference in the standards.
The usual admin chaos of various letters and instructions not arriving just the same as the NHS, but great on the medical side of things.
I need to take mild pain killers 4 times a day for 2 days only and was given a box of 100 paracetamol and 2 boxes of 28 codeine tablets! Bonkers.
I said that I didn’t need them as I already has supplies of my own ( from the the NHS instructions previously received ) but was told I needed to take them away as they had been prescribed and had my name on the labels. The NHS will be cross-charged for this now….

I hope you get your phone problem sorted out Mick.

Have the best day you can everyone .

Sar53 Fri 05-Nov-21 07:02:46

Good morning from a cold Essex by the sea.
Food shopping this morning and a trip to the boat to see the progress DH has made with it's refurbishment.
The covid family are all making progress. Eldest granddaughter is going into school today but it looks like SIL now has the dreaded bug.
My daughter is a bit low as she has had all 3 girls at home plus feeling poorly herself .
I'm glad you are on the mend Notagran55, look after yourself flowers.
Have the best Friday you can and stay safe everyone xx

Marydoll Fri 05-Nov-21 07:03:03

Good morning Mick and all who follow. Thank goodness, the temperature it 8°, much warmer than yesterday.

Mick, I think you may need to prepare yourself for buying a new phone, if it is over ten years old. Our landline receives calls most day, as that's my preferred point of contact because I often cut people off on my mobile, when answering , due to my clumsy fingers. blush

Belated birthday greetings to Greyduster, I hope you had a lovely day. I never got a proper chance to read this thread yesterday.

MrMDoll is golfing, but I need to pop to Lidl for baking essentials so I won't have the benefit of an empty
I don't intend to be out long, this chronic fatigue and breathlessness is curtailing my activities and really getting me down.

We had a lovely visit to Dollie"s school yesterday. MyHer teacher, a former colleague didn't recognise me, due to my mask, teamed with my shorter red hair streaked with highlights white! . Neither did the janitor, who used to help out in my school. Often, I would find a Mars Bar, placed on my desk. Initially, I had no idea who my secret admirer was.
My colleagues thought it was funny, I certainly did not. blush

Thank goodness I'm not still teaching. Dollie's homework was electronic, what a lot of work involved to put it on the system!
If there had been any IT difficulties, it would have fallen within my remit! I suspect I would have been very busy.
The pandemic has changed teaching methodology so much.

Wishing you a pleasant day, whatever your plans. Special thoughts for all who have family worries and mountains to climb on a daily basis.?

kittylester Fri 05-Nov-21 07:04:47

Good morning all from a North Leicestershire where there appears to have been a frost.

Bed change today and then tidying up.

Wishing everyone a good day.

Scentia Fri 05-Nov-21 07:08:14

Good Morning all from East Staffordshire where it is frosty ☃️
I have a piece of scaffold pipe to cut up today and a neighbour has lent me a tool, it looks dangerous ? it is part of my campaign to get my estate looking spic and span!
I have DGD this weekend as DD is on a hen weekend and DGS is stopping at hone with daddy to do bonfire night things ???
Have a great day folks, I’m off to get another layer on!!

Urmstongran Fri 05-Nov-21 07:18:59

Good morning everyone from a dry south Manchester. It’s not chilly though and yesterday’s warm sunshine heated the apartment so I’m sat here with no need of any heating. (Yet). Any savings on our utility bill can go to Mr.O’Leary next year!

We are over at our daughter’s house later to let the Hotpoint engineer in to repair their dishwasher and later, at tea time we will return to share the joy of fireworks in their back garden.

What a waste of money for the NHS NotAGran it beggars belief and all these stupid decisions add up to a great amount. Get well soon!

Enjoy Bonfire Night day (ha) all who can. x

Gingster Fri 05-Nov-21 07:22:46

Good morning all and it’s very chilly with a light frost here in Essex.

Hair appointment this morning and then dh and I will meet friends for a light lunch at our usual country pub.

Sar I’m pleased your Covid family are recovering . ?

GG I hope you’re feeling better. ?.

Scentia do be careful with that cutter. It looks lethal ?

Take it easy for a few days notagran.?

Wishing you all a pleasant day. ????

baubles Fri 05-Nov-21 07:25:48

Good morning Mick, morning all from South Lanarkshire. The sky is streaked with pink, it’s dry but looks as though there’s been overnight rain.

Charity shop day again, it rolls round so quickly.

Your poor daughter Sar, I hope they all get well very soon.

Wishing everyone a peaceful day today.

brook2704 Fri 05-Nov-21 07:25:55

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s grey and cloudy, probably quite cold outside too. We didn’t see any Aurora last night grandMattie but the night before there were some green streaks in the sky, we didn’t see anything much though.
Hope you’re fully recovered soon NotaGran and the Covid family are better soon too Sar
Today I’m off to the gym for my Aqua splash around class and then hopefully catch up with a friend for coffee.
Take care when cutting up the scaffolding Scentia that tool looks dangerous!
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings ?

Gwenisgreat1 Fri 05-Nov-21 07:41:59

Good morning all from dry Harrogate
Yes, Mick time to bite the bullet and get a new phone! I got a new one 6 weeks ago and we hardly have any calls now because I can block the nuisance ones!!
Had a very bad night last night, have been prescribed the dreaded presnisilone for my breathing. It’s side effect is insomnia, some of you will have experienced it I'm sure. I read quite a lot last night and did a few puzzles. Probably be washed out for the rest of the day! If you see a Zombie in Morrisons this pm, it will be me! I made one Xmas cake yesterday but didn’t have enough ingredients to do the big one. I’ll maybe wait until I can sleep again!!
Hope you are all going to have good day free of aches and worries

Grandmajean Fri 05-Nov-21 07:50:35

Good morning all.
Feels chilly here in Cheshire .
You are a brave lady GrandMattie I am glad you are grasping life again.
All those tablets not a gran ! What a waste - especially as no logic applied when you commented.
I didn't see the Aurora but didn't remember to look so not surprising smile
Child care this afternoon , but not too taxing.
Have as good a day as possible everyone.

Jaxjacky Fri 05-Nov-21 07:50:47

Good morning all from a cold, 3deg, dry Bridport, we move to Poole today to stay one night.
Take it easy NotAGran with a speedy recovery.
Tough times Sar for your family ?
Hope your phone gets sorted Mick
Looking forward to the fireworks tonight over Poole harbour, we were out and about yesterday, chilly but sun.
Enjoy Friday all ??

ginny Fri 05-Nov-21 07:52:36

Good morning.
It looks lovely outside, blue sky and a frost. Cold though.

Must get two mattresses off beds today ( yes, I know I said that yesterday ) new ones coming tomorrow.
My first job today will be writing a list of all the things I have got myself involved in during the run up to Christmas. Shall also take a trip to a patchwork shop to buy fabric for Charlie’s stocking. I have so much but , of course, not just the right thing.
Puddings were steamed yesterday , cake made and both wrapped and stored away.
Thoughts with all who have worries and illness to deal with .
Wishing everyone a smile in your day.

Jaxjacky Fri 05-Nov-21 07:53:15

Try again

Pittcity Fri 05-Nov-21 07:54:03

Good morning from sunny Colchester. Very cold though. A dry day forecast.

We got the ceiling and one wall painted yesterday. The colour was a lot darker than we expected so will need to rethink the other walls.
Shopping and tidying this morning. I am going to get my hair chopped this afternoon and the family is coming for a bonfire night tea and to view the local firework display. Our new house is right next to the park and the display is Sold Out. We might go to the end of the street or maybe just look out of the upstairs window.

Love to all ?? x

cornergran Fri 05-Nov-21 07:55:01

Morning Mick, morning All. Light cloud over our corner of Somerset. Feels chilly.

Garden sorted yesterday I will be trying to restore order inside today. Granddaughters to collect after school for a sleepover, a rarity these days. I know one will enjoy helping assemble the Christmas cake ingredients ready to bake tomorrow.

Hope the family and all with covid recover quickly sar. Take is easy notagran, rest when you need to.

Take care everyone. Hope Friday is kind to us all.

multicolourswapshop Fri 05-Nov-21 08:00:29

Good morning all I’ve done it again I’ve lost my first post.

I was just commenting about my dh saying when he came to bed, that man who used to dress up as a woman has died (Lionel Blair) we then went into debate with me saying he never dressed up as a woman but he did dance. The memory plays tricks all the time with both of us. I’ll need to Google who’s right in this one himself is always right envy

Have a good Friday everyone the weekend is here flowers and the sun is shining sunshine

Urmstongran Fri 05-Nov-21 08:04:56

If you see a Zombie in Morrisons this pm, it will be me!
That made me chuckle Gwenisgreat!

Oopsadaisy1 Fri 05-Nov-21 08:05:03

Good morning from a frosty Oxfordshire.
Hair dresser is due to arrive soon and then we have to wait for a phone call from the garage as MrOops car wasn’t ready last night to be collected, hope it’s in the daylight as it’s quite a long journey and I’m not sure of the route back home when it’s dark, he tries to let me follow him but in the dark I usually follow a completely different person!
Then the dog and a daughter here later today and tomorrow, to avoid their local firework displays.
I’m going to try to copy a curry recipe from Rick Steins book, it has 1 kilo of onions in it! Seems an awful lot and 6 cloves of garlic! Well we will see how that turns out. Prepping today and will cook it all in slow cooker tomorrow. I bet the house will be a bit smelly…..
Apart from that nowt to do!
Hope all who have cares and worries find something to smile about today.
Hugs to all.

Greyduster Fri 05-Nov-21 08:05:27

Good morning Michael and all GNs. The sun is shining in a cold South Yorkshire. Thank you all for your birthday wishes. I was thoroughly spoiled. We had a lovely dinner out with DD and her menfolk. I am agog at the amount of food GS can put away these days and how adventurous he is now. A few years ago he was the pickiest child on the planet!
Laundry and shopping on our agenda this morning and some baking if time allows. But another cup of coffee first I think!
Have the best day you can, folks.
