Nice to see a mention of the Handel. Wonderful piece.

There are so many pieces that make me want to cry. At the moment almost any Chopin piano music is having that effect on me. I think it’s the mixture of beauty and nostalgia. When I was a teenager, almost everyone I knew tried to play Chopin - and sometimes succeeded!

Beethoven, 2nd movement of 7th symphony,2nd movement of Brahms violin concerto. O soave fanciulla from La Boheme and ‘Panis Angelicus - but must be sung by Pavarotti. Get the Kleenex ready before you listen to any of them - oh and the theme tune from ET always gets me too - even 40 years later !!

Panis Angelicus - I sang it with our school choir several decades ago and we made our form teacher cry.

Nessun dorma; Bocelli in the cathedral of Milan or Pavarotti when the Italian planes flew at the start of the Italian lockdown.

And definitely Nimrod.

Wiederstehe doch der Sunde is sublime - brings on an incredible feeling of calm in me, but no tears☺️.

I remember Bocelli outside the Duomo. That even made my brother cry.

Nimrod for me too - had it at Dad’s funeral, ex RAF. It gets to me every year at The Cenotaph too.
Jim Croce’s Time in a Bottle is another that brings the tears.

One that I simply cannot listen to is ‘And I love her’ by The Beatles.
My dad listened to it in secret just after my mom died.
For similar reasons ‘The Crying Game’, sung by Boy George
