Good morning Auntyflo and all x
Grrr, that's the second time this morning that I've lost my post, so third time lucky!
It's a bright and windy Northampton morning, and looks set to stay dry for my rugby match this afternoon. I am off to see an international at our local Northampton Saints stadium - England women v New Zealand women, and looks to be a good match. It is on BBC 2, so look out for me somewhere in the crowd!
Thank you to whoever mentioned yesterday that the England/Tonga match was on Amazon Prime, so I was able to watch it while doing my knitting. Particularly enjoyed three of our Saints boys playing well, especially Hutchinson who scored a try on his England debut.
I had made three dozen sausage rolls yesterday before the match, to take to DD's for Christmas. Of course I had to try a couple in the name of quality control. Glad to say they passed the test! They are now in the freezer.
A late brunch this morning before I set off for the match, then an M&S chicken provencal when I get back.
Hoping Sunday is kind to us all.
Morning all from an extremely, windy Glasgow. The bed will be stripped and dry in no time. DH had a very disturbed night after his vaccinations. I was sure I was sleeping with a herd of elephants!
Yesterday was unexpectedly, but pleasantly busy. DS2 and his fiancée popped in early, on their way to a show in Edinburgh. Ten minutes later DD appeared, with a smug smile of satisfaction, having managed to dispose of the bag of out of date, half used baking items and some tinned fruit.
It was just like old times, something I have missed during the pandemic.
DS brought up the subject of Christmas and what we were doing. I said I would be hosting it as usual and everyone was welcome.
He suggested hosting it, as he felt I wasn't strong enough to do it now and time for me to step back. I had reluctantly agreed, when DD piped up asking if she was invited too, as she had planned to move in here with SIL, once they had sold their flat. It was really amusing to see DS teasing her, as she tried wangle an invite.
Once they left, it was a mad rush to have lunch and drive MrMDoll for his vaccinations.
Some of you will know that, like many, I have struggled to get my third primary vaccination, because I'm immunocompromised. Trying to be proactive, I asked his lordship to try and get some information for me, when he went in.
Knowing that he probably had heard, but not listened, I stalked him and followed him in to reception. He was totally oblivious, that I was following him and fulfilling my dream of being a private detective! True to form, he did not ask. ?
I spoke to the two receptionists, one of whom was very informative. He said because of my condition, he would get a nurse. She listened to my query and called the charge nurse, who in turn called the big boss! After a look into my records, discussing all my allergies to medications etc, they said I should be done immediately, would I like to be done NOW?
They offered me the AZ, but because that was the vaccine which wasn't to be given to patients like me for a third dose, I politely declined. After explaining and blinding them with the science of it, they agreed to give me the Pfizer. Result!
As I sat down and three people checked me again, (they were being ultra careful) I realised my son's MIL and next door neighbour was sitting beside me.
Unprepared for getting jagged, I had to discretely wriggle my way out of my sweater, while my neighbour and the nurses giggled at my attempts. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw MrMDoll leaving. I was like a fish wife shouting across the room. Did he hear me, did he hell!
When I caught up with him in the waiting area, he was dozing and didn't realise it was me shaking him! Neither did he realise that half of our cul de sac were sitting beside him!!?♀️
You wonder why I get frustrated?
It had turned into quite a social event!
I am so relieved that being proactive has finally lifted a huge weight from my shoulders.
DH made me a much needed cuppa when we got back and I had just sat down, when the landline rang. I could hear DH repeating, Who is this, who is this.? Assuming it was a scam call, I ignored it, until DH handed me the phone.
A little voice said, Hi gran and papa, its me, Dollie, I am learning to make an emergency phone call, just in case you are sick and I need to phone 999. ?
Half an hour later, (takes after her gran) she was still talking. DS sent a photo of her, lying on the floor upside down, legs propped up against the sofa, chatting away. What an unexpected, but joyful end to the day.
I haven't read the posts yet, so off to do that now. Wishing you all the best day possible. Enjoy your Sunday!
Good morning Mick, morning all from South Lanarkshire where the sky is grey and rather watery looking.
There’s a new statue being unveiled in a prominent position in our town today. It’s of a military dog, a German Shepherd, which saved its handler’s life during a craft landing in Belgium in 1944. The dog was awarded a medal for bravery. I’m looking forward to seeing how it looks.
Going to Mass first, our new priest has done away with the booking system so we’ll see what difference that makes to the number of people attending.
I’m trying out a slow cooker baked ham in cider recipe today, it sounds tasty, let’s hope so.
Wishing everyone a peaceful day, hop you find a flamingo or two. ??
Morning from S Lanarkshire where it’s quite bright and windy with rain clouds hovering.
I’m back in bed enjoying my morning cuppa in DD2’s silent house. DGD still sleeping, DSiL out walking the dogs and DD out running the local half marathon. I did ask if there was somewhere I could spectate but she she said the route is all out in the country so I’m still comfortably ensconced here!
Here till after lunch then I’ll get home before dark which caught me out on Friday. It was really enjoyable watching Strictly with them last night, I always think it’s much better fun when you can share your opinions (us being such good dancers)?
Hoping for good biopsy results for your daughter Gingster and wishing everyone a peaceful day???
Meant to put this in my post but forgot.
A big thank you and mention to Joules customer services who phoned me yesterday morning about my order. Apparently when I ordered a cardigan for DD's Christmas present, I had ordered two by mistake. They phoned to ask whether I really wanted two, which of course I didn't.
Customer service above and beyond! Shall use them again!
Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s dry. We are meeting our daughter and L’il Miss in the rose gardens behind us at the local park shortly. She wants to show us how she can now ride her bike ‘standing up grandma’ on the pedals! Himself only took her stabilisers off recently. The Boy Wonder will be at his Sunday morning golf lesson.
Stepfather is coming for lunch so I will put the gammon in the oven as we leave. Himself is peeling the potatoes as I tap this out. We 3 will go to a bar before we come up to eat. The tray of cauli cheese is courtesy of Sainsbury’s.

Sorry about the duplication! I got an Error 404 message, used the back arrow to see if my post was still in the box and saw this had happened.
Good morning everyone from North Wales. It is bright but cold here.
Not doing much today. I woke up with a crick in my neck which is a bit painful. May have been caused by a long phone conversation with a friend last night and my neck in an awkward position.
Have a peaceful Sunday.
As a prolific knitter, what I want to know is why you are buying a cardigan in the first place BlueSapphire!
???
baubles, if you’re still reading, what time is mass? I didn’t realise booking restrictions had been lifted here.
Brilliant to see you posting again Pantglas2...
Morning everyone..Carpe diem
Our booking restrictions were lifted weeks ago!
Good morning from gloriously sunny N Bucks. The Autumn colours are just wonderful.
Rosie is off to doggy day care again (plus a sleepover); as D3’s in-laws and I are going down to London for lunch, to cuddle Remy (and Otis) and inspect the loft conversion - not necessarily in that order.
Congratulations on your third jab Marydoll - “to them that ask, shall be given” .
We have got off very lightly with only a few fireworks over the last 2 evenings and Rosie has not been stressed but a friend has just shared a post from Hall Green Greyhound Trust with a picture of a poor dear hound who died of a heart attack caused by fright . I shall be glad when “Bonfire Weekend” is over.
Wishing you all a pleasant day.
Beech, Whatever ^my father in law had on a Sunday Mattie he made it last nearly all week....
Our problem is that we don't eat that much meat, so even if I don't use the bones for soup (DH hates chicken soup), we can't manage any more per meal!
Good morning, Mick, good morning pantglas and all, I'm posting from our local vaccination centre ( sports centre) in North Lanarkshire, site of the former steelworks which provided employment for so many, my Dad, brother, uncle included.
I am sitting for the required 15 minutes after having both jags, Covid in left arm, flu in right. Feeling very thankful.
So glad to hear that you got your third vaccine, Marydoll, that'll give you some peace of mind.
A lovely family day yesterday with a visit from DS2 family, a walk through the beautiful autumn leaves with DGS2 , 20 months, on his wee balance bike.
Walking in the park with my sister today, then home made lentil soup for lunch. Early evening Mass at 4.30, it was so dark last week when we came out.
I'll remember all those with sorrow, pain or worries.
Take care, ???
Good morning Mick and everyone from brightish and breezy Carlisle. Yesterdays and last nights gale and rain has gone thankfully so I am entertaining thoughts of a bit of gardening. However, there are plenty of little jobs to do in the house and a pile of newspapers to read.
I popped out to the supermarket first thing yesterday for fresh veggies but also amused myself by visiting a particular aisle to see if a media-discussed shortage of a certain ingredient had had an effect. It had. Although the staff had tried to avoid empty shelves, various items were obviously now not to be had.
Wishing you all the best possible Sunday.
Good morning everyone, lovely bright sunny day here so far , I have the bed clothes to hang out as soon as the machine stops chundering
Glad to see so many have had booster and flu vaccinations , I get mine in the morning , should have been last Monday but the Nurse apologised , someone had double booked her
Good morning Mick and all from a very blustery but sunny Lancashire coast.
Rather stressful driving to the Opera Gala in the country last night, it took a couple of hours and we missed the opening as the sat nag wasn’t very helpful and the sign to the theatre wasn’t lit down all the twisting narrow lanes as apparently the neighbours had objected!
Took me a little while to settle down and my blood pressure was probably on the high side. Motorways never bother me, but faffing around country lanes in the wind and rain is a pain,
Nice programme, serious and light and I took a hamper which was a blinking nuisance as the leather straps were rather fiddly.
Glad I didn’t take my candelabra too, which I had hinted at!
My close pianist friend who accompanied me was inspired and suggested we should put on a similar show. OK, but local please…
An ‘empty’ thank goodness.
Thoughts to GrannySomerset hope you have a blessed Sunday.
Good morning from a sunny and calm East Midlands. No horrible fireworks in this area for the first time in years. All peaceful and great for the birds and animals. I feel sorry for all the people with pets who are afraid. A day of making christmas cards, which I love. I’ll post so photos at a later date. Stay safe everyone and have a lovely Sunday.
Very quick good morning as family have arrived already.
Sunshine on its way from Anglesey for AGA and Pant.
Hope there’s enough to go around everywhere else.
Have a good day all ??
Yes thank you PollyTickle we have sunshine here now.

grandMattie why not do what we do for just 2 people? Buy a couple of chicken breasts, or (my favourite, more flavour I think) say a pack of chicken thighs and if you don’t like much meat, just have one thigh each and freeze the rest in twos? Saves having chicken every blooming day.
