Morning all from an extremely, windy Glasgow. The bed will be stripped and dry in no time. DH had a very disturbed night after his vaccinations. I was sure I was sleeping with a herd of elephants!
Yesterday was unexpectedly, but pleasantly busy. DS2 and his fiancée popped in early, on their way to a show in Edinburgh. Ten minutes later DD appeared, with a smug smile of satisfaction, having managed to dispose of the bag of out of date, half used baking items and some tinned fruit.
It was just like old times, something I have missed during the pandemic.
DS brought up the subject of Christmas and what we were doing. I said I would be hosting it as usual and everyone was welcome.
He suggested hosting it, as he felt I wasn't strong enough to do it now and time for me to step back. I had reluctantly agreed, when DD piped up asking if she was invited too, as she had planned to move in here with SIL, once they had sold their flat. It was really amusing to see DS teasing her, as she tried wangle an invite.
Once they left, it was a mad rush to have lunch and drive MrMDoll for his vaccinations.
Some of you will know that, like many, I have struggled to get my third primary vaccination, because I'm immunocompromised. Trying to be proactive, I asked his lordship to try and get some information for me, when he went in.
Knowing that he probably had heard, but not listened, I stalked him and followed him in to reception. He was totally oblivious, that I was following him and fulfilling my dream of being a private detective! True to form, he did not ask. ?
I spoke to the two receptionists, one of whom was very informative. He said because of my condition, he would get a nurse. She listened to my query and called the charge nurse, who in turn called the big boss! After a look into my records, discussing all my allergies to medications etc, they said I should be done immediately, would I like to be done NOW?
They offered me the AZ, but because that was the vaccine which wasn't to be given to patients like me for a third dose, I politely declined. After explaining and blinding them with the science of it, they agreed to give me the Pfizer. Result!
As I sat down and three people checked me again, (they were being ultra careful) I realised my son's MIL and next door neighbour was sitting beside me.
Unprepared for getting jagged, I had to discretely wriggle my way out of my sweater, while my neighbour and the nurses giggled at my attempts. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw MrMDoll leaving. I was like a fish wife shouting across the room. Did he hear me, did he hell!
When I caught up with him in the waiting area, he was dozing and didn't realise it was me shaking him! Neither did he realise that half of our cul de sac were sitting beside him!!?♀️
You wonder why I get frustrated?
It had turned into quite a social event!
I am so relieved that being proactive has finally lifted a huge weight from my shoulders.
DH made me a much needed cuppa when we got back and I had just sat down, when the landline rang. I could hear DH repeating, Who is this, who is this.? Assuming it was a scam call, I ignored it, until DH handed me the phone.
A little voice said, Hi gran and papa, its me, Dollie, I am learning to make an emergency phone call, just in case you are sick and I need to phone 999. ?
Half an hour later, (takes after her gran) she was still talking. DS sent a photo of her, lying on the floor upside down, legs propped up against the sofa, chatting away. What an unexpected, but joyful end to the day.
I haven't read the posts yet, so off to do that now. Wishing you all the best day possible. Enjoy your Sunday!
