She's always had beautiful hair (allegedly). She said in that article that she now has 'help' with it.

My hair is light grey, but fine and thin. I’d love to colour it, but then my scalp would be very visible. I use a purple shampoo too and have found a style (I hope) that suits me.
An old school friend has grown her thick grey hair long and wears it in a single plait to the side, over one shoulder and looks fabulous.

I've always had long hair but during lockdown it got really long. I hadn't realised just how long it was until I saw a photo of myself and decided I looked like an old aged hippy! I had quite a bit chopped off after that! It's still long but nowhere near as long as it was. I'm of the opinion that everyone should have their hair exactly as they want it and not worry about what other people say.

Not sure if the colour weaves are colouring or extensions. But washing and drying that lot and doing a hair mask every day??? Blimey. Mine isn’t quite as long as hers but there’s a lot of it (I feel bad saying that Kate, forgive me) and it gets a quick shampoo and bit of conditioner (never had a hair mask) once a week, maybe twice if it’s hot, and I blow dry it without styling it - it falls ok naturally - in less than ten minutes. And just a quick brush (cheap not £95) every morning. I can’t imagine how much time JS spends just on her hair every day. That is indeed money (and doubtless people to do everything) for you. Rather have my life thanks!

I don't get this idea that at some point a woman becomes too old to have long hair - how weird is that?

I like my long dark brown hair which is natural with no grey. I have trimmed it to shoulder length now - but I enjoy having the choice to leave it loose, or to put it up in no end of different styles.

I would never cut my shoulder length dyed hair just because i am older. I had chemo this year and it went very thin and i couldnt dye it because it wasn't recommended. I felt really down because I looked so much older. My hair is much improved and back to being coloured, i will never let it go grey but each to their own.

A granny with small children came to.one of my groups. The next week child came with mother, or so I thought at first. But no, granny had had her hair cut short and looked at least 20 years younger.

I expect you look years younger. Each to their own of course but I think long hair on older people looks awful especially if it is grey.

Tell that to the legion of older models that have long grey or silver hair. They not only look fabulous but are earning a mint doing so.

Each to his/her own, of course. I've just chopped some of my hair off this morning. It does look better I think.

I agree Dabi. The friend I mention above looks fabulous with sleek, long grey hair at 70.

I've got scarred legs from DVT. I have arthritis and slightly wonly boobs from breast cancer.
But my hair is thick and long. I'm not going to get it cut just because I'm retired.
OP, your hair sounds wonderful now. We should all do what makes us feel beautiful.

My hair is shoulder length and coloured as well as thining...I'm not sure if its due to Peri or vitimins...I need to see the Doctor...I've been watching a lovely lady on You Tube ...pink puff n fluff (r something like that )She often wears wigs which the roots arent coloured and they look fab.. I expect they are expensive so we will see ??

As a child I used to love brushing my nan's hair, in her 80s, it was like a waist length, silver waterfall.

Mine is shoulder length and still fair, it's fine and a lot thinner since chemo but I can't manage it when it's short, it has a mind of it's own. So 'awful' or not I shall keep mine on the long side.

My hair has turned curlier and frizzier as I have got older. It’s a nightmare to keep it looking tidy. I can’t have it cut shorter because the kinks make it stick up and I have a double crown as well. I can’t even have a fringe because it doesn’t stay down for long. I remember my Nan having shortish curly hair until she reached her eighties, then she just let it grow long and tied it back. I think I need to do the same.

A friend of mine, well into her 80's, has grey hair long enough to sit on. It's very thick and shiny, she always wears it up in a bun. Her late husband liked her hair long so she never cut it. During a hospital stay last year, the hospital hairdresser refused to do anything with her hair because it was so long and kept insisting she should cut it.

My own grey hair grew from very short to shoulder length during the lockdowns. It's now a chin length bob and very easy to manage. I had very long hair in my youth and well remember dashing off to work in the mornings with wet hair hanging down my back! I was never one for 'fiddling' with my hair and doing up-styles, so eventually it was for the chop. I went from waist length to a Mia Farrow crop in one day. Oh the liberation!

If a woman is happy with her long hair and can manage it easily then she shouldn't feel she should conform to other people's ideas of the older woman. Love you tresses ladies!

Had mine cut off in April, my daughter is a hairdresser.

I was able to send 18 inches to the Princess Trust which they were delighted with, rather than 12--14" which they apparently already have so much of.

Very little grey even though I had just turned 64 and not coloured in any way since September 2015.

Used to wear my hair to school in 2 long plaits which all the children were used to but with Covid my teaching career ended so I decided to take the plunge!
Growing too quickly again but at least I have a hairdresser on hand and I love the shorter style

I’m 56 so not complete grey yet actually looks like highlights but I’ve got long hair to my waist and as I’m getting older it’s starting to get thinner. I used to have really thick hair ?. I’m also thinking about getting it cut too my shoulders. But everyone keeps telling me I don’t look my age so must be my hair keeping me looking younger lol. As for the person who said long grey hair doesn’t look right on older ppl don’t be jealous just because you don’t have it. Doesn’t mean myself and others can’t as I say my hair my body if you don’t like it you don’t have to look ? lol

I am toying with the idea of having my cut but i cant stand the thought of all the messing around short hair creates for me. Mine is currently just below my shoulders, not very thick but i never wear it loose i have it up in a bun. My fringe is trimmed every 5/6 weeks and the ends trimmed every other visit to the hairdresser. I know exactly how to do my hair and don't even require a mirror, i know when it just feels right!!! Now i have talked myself out of a short cut!!!

I love having long, wild hair again, especially after chemo some years ago. Makes me very reluctant to allow anyone to cut it - except me!
