I’ve surrendered !

I have had long hair all my life and have resisted getting it cut. When I was in my fifties my mother frequently made comments saying I was just too old to have hair nearly waist length. As the years have rolled by unfortunately my hair is no longer my pride and glory, and has become very thin and fine.
It’s been useful to have the length as it’s covered my bald bits but recently I saw my reflection in a shop window and it made me cringe. It looked like thin rats tails.
I took the plunge, went for the chop, and finally surrendered! I now have a short style I can still tuck behind my ears and wish I’d done it years ago ! Easy to wash, and easy to style. So what if my hair is thin - it is what it is. I am so pleased. And for once glad my mother is dead or I’d never hear the end of her chorus of I TOLD YOU SO !

Wispy, fine, flyaway, short hair can look awfully Borisish.

That's not quite the case Baggs because even with long hair put up then that is a long hair off your shoulders look. In the simmer and when warm I put my hair in a pony-tail then plait it. Other times I put it up and put a nice fancy hair ornament in it. With short hair you cannot do those things unless you use some fake hair which of course can still look attractive.

Yes, I did not mean it literally, 3nanny6, but I get the impression (possibly wrongly) that most people who object to long hair on older women are objecting to the long loose look rather than actually to long hair per se.
