Hoping no-one else has done this.

We need to get things organised for soop's return.

Marydoll Thu 09-Dec-21 23:08:25

Sue, you must be on cloud nine!

Nannytopsy Thu 09-Dec-21 23:11:10

Lovely news SueD and really enjoy your time together.
I am trying to write my cards and put the different piles alongside me on the sofa. Charlie cat rejects that idea and is flicking them onto the floor!! Obviously feeling better. ?
I’m going shopping tomorrow. I may be some time …
There’s lemon drizzle on the table.
? sleep tight!

Grannmarie Thu 09-Dec-21 23:38:13

SueD, I'm so delighted for you! Enjoy this special family time. You've waited a long time for it. Thank goodness it wasn't last week during the storm!

Grandmajean and Marydoll, it's a small world!! I've lived and worked in Lanarkshire all my life. When I was teaching, we used to take school trips to Summerlee. The cottages are now part of the museum experience, each one depicting a different era. I laughed at the cottage fitted out in 1960s style because it displayed a hairdryer with a hose and hood attached....I had one of those! The children wondered why I was laughing ?

Silverlining, I hope you have a peaceful night.

It's good to end the evening on a happy note, fingers crossed for Soop's consultation tomorrow. NNGB.

Marydoll Thu 09-Dec-21 23:54:18

Granmarie, we spent many a happy Sunday at Summerlee with our children, they loved going there.
My favourite was the shop, displaying groceries from my childhood. I could have stayed there for hours, it triggered so many memories.

I only discovered my grandparents lived there, from family birth certificates.
There was some kind of family scandal, where my paternal grandfather married his wife's sister. That's probably why they moved to Paisley! wink
I never got to the bottom of it, because I only found the certificates when both my parents were dead.

Hello all kitcheners. I spy more lemon cake.. Many thanks Nannytopsy. Mya left me no room on the sofa to do my cards so I vacated it and moved to the table. She may look a small dog but she is sure long when stretched out.

silverlining48 I wish you luck in the search for your surgery. It does seem to depend where you are in the UK. Something chocolate? I'm very partial to ginger covered in dark chocolate. How about you?

Sounds like the tree and presents are getting sorted and well hidden Jax. Are the lights going on soon? Bikes and tree ! ?

What a Christmas you will have SueDonim surrounded by your family. Is your eldest here for a good while?

Well done Blossoming. Can I have L’il Miss' sprouts please Urms? I'll swap for parsnips ?.

Sorry to hear that Brook but I hope it stays a mild dose.

MrM and myself are planning big changes to our power supply. Plans are being put in place tomorrow for our connection to the grid to enable all our self-generating PV to be replaced. It will probably take us well into 2023 to complete the task but MrM is getting a tad cheesed off with the batteries not equalising. I'm still not sure what that means but it is not good. In between that, he dips in and out of the new build work but remembering to keep those compression socks on. Date expected soon for his hernia op.

After a two week wait, I had a very long call from DS about DGD last night. She is starting to talk to mum and dad but they will need a lot of support to help her through her worries. I've urged them again to contact the school and doctor. Tomorrow I'm off to post her a little 'thinking of you' gift.

Good luck tomorrow soop.

Grannmarie Fri 10-Dec-21 01:09:22

Marydoll, that's fascinating... you should follow up your family history. When I retired, I planned to investigate our family tree, but I fell into to a lovely routine of childcare and supply teaching, right up until lockdown, so it never happened. Maybe in the new year???

Muse, I am in awe of you and MrM with all your plans for your new home, good luck to you both, and I do hope things work out for your DGD. This has been such a terrible time for our grandchildren.

My body clock is still haywire since Chicago... I'm watching the new Sex in tbe City..... wide awake!

kittylester Fri 10-Dec-21 07:25:17

Just popping in for a quick catch up. I hope we hear good news for both soop and silverlinings. And to steal some cake.

Gagagran Fri 10-Dec-21 07:55:09

Is it too early for a mince pie? I've made a batch to try a new pastry recipe so have brought a plateful to the kitchen. Help yourselves!

I am full of good intentions to write the cards today. I am usually well organised with them and don't understand why this year I can't seem to get into gear. Possibly due to the awful year DH has had healthwise. Do I mention it or just say "All well". I can't face writing it all down on each card. Or should I just not send any? Hmmmm.

Need to finish my click and collect order for tomorrow and have the "Surgeons :at the edge of life" programme recorded to watch later. I am fascinated at being able to see inside human bodies and watch the skill of the surgeons. We are so lucky to have them in our hour of need.

Hoping "Soop's" GFM keeps creeping up and she has a successful telephone call with her consultant tonight.

Baggs Fri 10-Dec-21 07:57:07

Never too early for a mince pie ?

Urmstongran Fri 10-Dec-21 08:10:55

Just popping in to wish dear soop all the best with her telephone consultation later today.

Jaxjacky Fri 10-Dec-21 08:21:05

Oh Silverlining you must be worried and frustrated, I can only hope for you that the urgency speeds you a date soonest.

Another here soop wishing you a constructive and productive phone call later today x

Grandmabatty Fri 10-Dec-21 08:33:09

Soop fingers crossed for a productive chat with your consultant today. Suedonim lovely news! Silver lining Dr Google isn't always helpful. I hope you got a sleep.

silverlining48 Fri 10-Dec-21 11:55:41

Morning everyone, just back from ear hoovering at the hospital where I took the opportunity to seek out more information about when I could expect to be seen about my current issue, which is severely affecting my life now. Turns out the hospital never received the referral made by my gp in July, I am not in the system and will have to join the back of the nhs queue.
I need cheering up, maybe more chocolate, dark chocolate with nuts preferably.

Grandmajean Fri 10-Dec-21 12:34:48

Quick pop in as busy day.
Sue have a fantastic time with your family.
Brook hope you are better soon
Thinking of you Soop and wishing you well for your consultation.
Apologies if I have forgotten some people. If I scroll I seem to to see lose by my message.
GS now positive too for Covid. He had a lateral flow test before his school Nativity this morning as advised by school. He was devastated to miss it. Has now had PCR but pretty certain to be positive.
Be interesting to see if his double jabbed and boosted parents escape. A very good test of vaccine efficacy.
Grateful the children are really not ill
Been round with strawberries and grapes. I rang the bell and ran away.?

Grandmajean Fri 10-Dec-21 12:36:11

This phone seems to add prepositions I have not typed !

Grandmajean Fri 10-Dec-21 12:36:41

And verbs !

cornergran Fri 10-Dec-21 13:22:57

Oh blimey silverlining: you didn’t need to hear that. Just a thought, would your GP write on your behalf urging that you were put on the list where you should be. Who knows where the referral went missing but it certainly isn’t your fault. I just happen to have a large bar of dark chocolate and nuts in the Christmas stash. On the side just for you - hands off everyone else.

Fingers will be firmly crossed for your phone call later soop. The outcome you need would be wonderful.

So many folk testing positive for covid. Get well soon wishes to them all along with a hug for anyone who would feel better for one.

soop Fri 10-Dec-21 13:52:31

Brilliant news, SueD. Your must be on cloud nine plus some.

silverlining Having had a mastectomy, I will happily share my experiences with you. First thing is to say that there is nothing to dread. My breast needed removing. I haven't missed it. Recovery was surprisingly swift. flowers

A certain Gransnetter is spoiling me rotten and I have no idea who she is. I can guess. But, I would like confirmation please. hmm

We've been paying our respects to a deceased gentleman by lining the route of the cortege through our village.

I shall return. That's a promise.

brook2704 Fri 10-Dec-21 15:01:52

Just popping into the kitchen so have a warm by the fire and replenish the mince pies. Thanks for the ones you brought in earlier Gaga they were yummy
I hope you enjoyed your dark chocolate silverlining you certainly deserve it and I hope things improve for you. I agree with cornergran maybe a word with your GP might help get your rightful place in the queue, no harm in asking anyhow
Here’s hoping there’s no further cases in your family grandmajean
Ive never been to Summerlee marydoll and grannmarie but you’ve sparked my interest and hopefully I’ll get the chance to visit next year sometime
It sounds like a lot of work on your house muse, I don't think I’d have the resilience. It must feel like such an amazing achievement though and a big well done to you both so far and I’m looking forward to seeing the pictures when you can. It must be a worry about your DGD, I wish her all the very best and hope she gets any appropriate help needed ?
Lovely Christmas presents for the DGC jax
Fingers crossed for later soop

soop Fri 10-Dec-21 16:00:12

((((hugs)))) for every one of our fabulous Kitcheners. I shall report back after the consultation this evening.

Blossoming Fri 10-Dec-21 16:06:07

Good afternoon lovely Kitcheners. My hair is trimmed, tidied and glamorous - just give me 5 minutes to turn it back into an unruly mop grin. Sounds like good progress Muse, I hope your DD is still OK and your DGD gets the support she needs. Lovely that you have your son home SueD. Hope you can get your referral chased stilllearning. Thank you for the mince pie gagagran. Hope you’re feeling OK brook.

Apologies if I missed anyone, will pop back later to see if any news from soop

Charleygirl5 Fri 10-Dec-21 16:51:23

Fabulous that the money has crept over 12K. Slowly but surely it is reaching its mark.

corner with the NHS rulz is rulz and they will not change. That really is so frustrating when it is nobody's fault.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 10-Dec-21 17:14:48

Popping in to wish our dear soop all the best for her telephone consultation ?

The naughty elf is getting more mischievous each night ?
