I’m confused now, I don’t know soop’s history either, not that I need to, I’d just like her fixed.

Goodness me. You’ve been through the mill. Soop. I’m not au fait with your history but is there an NHS alternative or are they just saying you have to live with your condition because there’s no other option? I don’t want to teach grannies to suck eggs(!) but have you spoken to you MSP/MP about this, because to me it seems immoral to leave someone to suffer in this manner.

The NHS lists are bad (I’m 20mths in, waiting for a non-urgent op) but you won’t be pushing out anyone needing emergency or urgent surgery, I’m sure. I think you deserve priority, especially if the NHS has failed to come up with a solution in ten years.

I agree that crowdfunding is one way to make this happen and would happily contribute. Would the private healthcare company be prepared to offer a payment system, I wonder, so it could be paid in instalments?

Shame on this government, I feel quite angry that people are being driven to these measures simply to live their lives.

I’m so sorry to hear what has happened. I hope you can have your operation soon. But it is indeed a lot of money.

So sorry to hear of your disappointment dear soop. I am sure that MacS will coorie up with you to help you recover from all the horrible stresses and strains of the last few days and a plan will ultimately be made.

Dear kitcheners I’m not sure of how crowd funding gets started or done and dusted but I also think it is worth investigating. It seems so wrong that the original botched job should not or does not automatically entitle our soop to remedial surgery.

Soop I don't know your whole story so I am sorry if my comments aren't useful. I am sorry you haven't been able to have anything done yet. Can you go and see your GP again and stress how difficult this situation is making your life- the physical and psychological aspects? Stress how much it limits your life and what an effect it is having on your DH. Make a list before you go. Say it how it is and don't gloss over anything. Dont be your usual upbeat and cheerful self! The op must be available on the NHS. You need to show you really need to be treated as a priority. Of course cancer cases are more urgent but your condition is seriously debilitating. Hope things improve for you x

When I saw a consultant about my knee, after looking at X-rays and watching me walk, he said how much is this impacting on your life and have you had enough?
When I said “totally” which was true he put me on his list.

soop has gone through 1000% worse and for many years.
This should be the criteria now for the NHS.

soop, do what momb says. Take MrS with you and get him to tell your GP the horrid details if you can’t.

Some good advice here soop. I did think, though, that upthread someone pointed out that the op simply isn’t available on the NHS. This could bring us back to the crowdfunding option which clearly many of us would be happy to contribute to. A lot to think bout but please don’t just accept things as they are.

Bellanonna that operation is available on the NHS. I am meeting a friend for coffee later this week and she has had it done. Admittedly she has had cancer but the surgical reason does not matter.

I agree with every word that MOMB has said. Please do it soon soop because time matters. I would also mention the disastrous surgery done 10 years or so ago. So sorry I do not live closer because I would happily be your spokesperson.

Oh I’m pleased to hear that Charleygirl, I thought I had read otherwise but there have been lots of posts on the subject. soop, when she feels strong enough, needs to put on her determined/assertive hat and have a conversation with her GP. Maybe mention the large posse of supportive grans that might need to be dealt with if she’s not listened to. Then there is always plan B should thsat fail. Fingers tightly crossed.

soop if you have the stamina phone CAB and get PASS to listen to your story. A timeline with dates is very helpful. They have an excellent record for getting things done. I can't guarantee an operation but they would know whom to contact within the local NHS Board to study your situation. That might be of use.

Soop it's all been said already, I just want to add that you are very much in my thoughts. Sincerely hoping for the best for you and that a solution will be found in the near future.

Some really good suggestions.I too think a visit to the GP first accompanied by Mr soop.I seem to remember he wrote a timeline of everything some time ago.Phoning CAB is also a good idea.

If the NHS really cannot help, the crowdfunding option can be your back up plan.As others have said we would be happy to contribute.

Dogsmakemesmile mentioned something called PASS. I don't know what that is but it reminded me that, in England, you could enlist the help of PALS. Do you have that in Scotland? Or your local MP/MSP?

I think crowd funding is a brilliant idea but baggs idea to see the gp and to be brutally honest is the first step.

Soop’s condition is in part due to NHS treatment?? I am speechless! They’re lucky they’re not being sued for negligence or similar.

I think you need to be less kind and understanding, Soop. We only get one chance at life, you deserve to be able to make the most of yours. The GN troops are behind you and I feel could mount a campaign on your behalf, if you just said yes.

You are a very eloquent articulate lady and it is time to express yourself in much stronger terms, not prepared to put up and shut up any longer.
There is nothing to stop your GP doing some research on your behalf as there are surgeons out there in Glasgow and surrounding areas who perform this particular surgery, highly regarded in their field.
Mr. Andrew Renwick is a Consultant at RAH in Paisley. who specialises in Colorectal Surgery is an example.

In the meantime, take time to rest up after your ordeal also allowing for anesthetic to clear from your system.
