We should wait for trials/court proceedings for evidence.

Please look the word 'evidence' up if you are unsure, as some of you believe all you read in newspapers/on television. That is, unless you know something that the rest of us don't.

I am pretty certain that, for example, Virginia Giuffre is taking her course of action not because she has been suffering all these years and money will help asuage her feelings but that she is a money-grabbing woman told by a lawyer that could could earn $X BUT I would not actually assert that until I see some evidence.

Ghislaine Maxwell has been tried by a jury of newspapers, media (and some people on Gransnet!) and already found guilty. I have no idea if she is guilty or not, as I await evidence.

So very true BlueBelle. The only thing holding me back at 15/16 was what my mum would have said. I had many dire warnings about shame and damaged goods and took heed! But that was in the 60s and things were vastly different by the time of the alleged offences. And of course no-one offered me money, gifts or world travel!

You do know that women who have had a number of sexual partners can also be assaulted/raped. I dont believe I am having to say that.

Whitewavemark2, are you so naive to think that there are no sexually promiscuous girls at age 16 when hormones are rampant. Why is there such a rate of teenage pregnancy then? Are all the girls victims of grooming or rape? I don’t think so. How do you know that Virginia Giuffre wasn’t promiscuous first and then got picked up by Maxwell? The answer is no one knows but the participants. I can remember being 14 and highly interested in boys, there was a group of us boys and girls feeling the same. I know that many of the girls I went to school with at age 16 weren’t virgins. Most of us would have been highly flattered if an older boy/man would have shown an interest and this was in the 70s. Women aren’t the passive gullible idiots that many of you seem to think, and not all men are sexually aggressive predators either. Perhaps they are in this case, I don’t know. Perhaps it’s a mix of the two who will ever really know.
