I hope your decorator turns up GG. Ours has disappeared.

Anyone coming to our door is usually greeted by a boisterous barking dog, stacks of parcels awaiting collection, a dusty cluttered hall table, muddy floor and lots of dog hair gathering around the skirting. It's always like that!

A horribly cluttered house where I'm trying to make space for DD to move back in 2 days before Christmas having lived in Scotland for 5 years and now starting a new job in London! I've also got my DS, DiL and GS coming to stay from Germany with all the potential issues with covid, quarantine etc. I won't post a photo - it would be way too embarassing! Just hope things improve before anyone arrives. Probably shouldn't be 'wasting time' on Gransnet!

I loved reading your thread, Urmstongran. I could just picture your flat crammed with semi-drunk Gransnetters!
I won't post a picture of my hallway. It contains a white chest of drawers which has been sitting there for several weeks, waiting for my son to summon the enthusiasm to load it into his car. The only other 'decor' consists of my coat, hanging on the stair post. I have been having a revamp, since my DD and DGD moved out, taking, thankfully, her houseful of furniture. They, and all of it, have been crammed into my house while their new one was renovated. Due to a shortage of building materials their stay extended to 7 months!
I'm trying to decide what to do with the hall, so it's not worth a photo right now.
I hope you have recovered from the mayhem of all your visitors last night! ?

A very excited Fox Terrier so pleased to see someone else other than me.

Callers would see me looking happpier now that one son visited me and unpacked the sideboard which had been sitting here unpacked since last thursday. Now I can start putting things in it. (or cluttering it up! ) Yay!

This is what any GN's would see if you visited, the feet are my OH.

The torch and toolbox are there for him to the fire light..lol Knowing him they will still be there next week.

Bare walls as the decorator didn't turn up today

bare kitchen here as the decorator is coming tomorrow! What on earth made us think this was a good idea eh? Mind you, the top of the cupboards and the skirting boards did get a good clean before he arrives, I couldn't have looked him in the face if he had seen what I did on top of the dresser this morning . Sorry! derailed your lovely thread urmonstongran!

When my kitchen has been painted and everything is back in place, you are all welcome to raid my wine fridge. Urmonstongran, as you have a fair way to travel, I can offer you the spare room, after I have got all the kitchen detritus out of it. You are also welcome to take our dog for a walk after breakfast, or we could walk to the pub who do a very good full English on a Wednesday and a Sunday?

Well Gill Ours gave us a quote of 4 to 6 weeks in September. Then it was the end of November and then this Saturday just gone! No word. I've contacted him and said we have a carpet being fitted on 20th Dec. I'll do it before then he said. Hmmm. No one else is available.

This is your first glimpse through the open front door.
The door at the back of our very small hall leads to the wash-kitchen and the bathroom.

Obviously the stairs go up; to the room I use as a study, to a passage and toilet and to our bedroom. We also have two boxrooms upstairs and access, used only by the chimney sweep to the attic.

On your left as you come into the house, there is a tiny (1 yard square passage, tiled like the hall) with a door straight ahead into our kitchen-living room and one one your left to the two front rooms.

We also have a large garden, but in this raw weather you won't want to go out there.

Morning Urmstongran! W ill you be in this afternoon so I can pop back for my shoes? I just sallied out in my slippers last night when it was time to go.

Thanks for a lovely evening, great to see everyone, and could whoever found my tights on the bathroom floor just hang onto them till the next meeting? No, don't worry, I've plenty more.

Hope everyone got home safe. I don't know who was swinging round that lamppost across the road, but they were attracting a lot of attention. I'm sure those officers were doing their best to help!

we saw ours in the late summer, he was busy catching up with delayed outside jobs and said he could be with us in December, so far, so good! Hope you hear from yours soon!

All your rooms and hallways look really inviting, if you came through my front door, you are very welcome, you would see my granny's old blanket chest which is now used for leaving things going to the AC, there are lots of pictures and then just before the stairs a hall table with barley twist legs. Do come the kettle is on.

Did you say you needed an extra chair Urms ? Will this one do?
DH got it for a fiver in a charity shop the other week - its very nice but a bit too big. I reckon it could seat quite a few Grans if they all squash up. Actually, I'm going to dress it up in fairy lights for Christmas.

Well, not wanting to miss all the fun, here's my contribution - just decorated the lounge with some Christmas lights. Also put up the tree with lots of 'help' from my 3 year old grandson, who decided that all the balls should go at the bottom and on one side! Bless.

Inside the front door in our home is a frame holding an "All Blacks" Rugby Shirt (bought in person from NZ) and a string of chimes in the form of bells! The second door into the Hall is closed, so the Cats can't get out when the front door is opened, but once inside - there are lots of prints and paintings on the walls, a hall table (cluttered with a telephone, any medical appointment letters, Hand Sanitiser, a desk tidy with pens and notepaper etc.) and a small bookcase, overflowing with books that are too big for it! Right beside the bookcase is a narrow Christmas tree, and on the other side of the hall table is the feeding station for our cats! You will also see lots more doors, as we live in a Bungalow, so everything leads off from the hall! It's brightly lit, as I'm partially sighted, and you would be very welcome to a cuppa.
Our stock of alcohol is fairly limited as I no longer drink and Roly hasn't done so for many. many years. I could offer Vodka, Brandy, Sherry and Dry Martini. If you opt for these, they may be a little strong, as I cannot recall when they were last opened (some have not been opened at all)!
We have lots of chairs to offer you, and our cats (x 3) love visitors.
Please do feel free to call in - we are not far from John O'Groats, with a lovely view of the sea!
