‘Evening All’
I felt a bit low last night but I think the industrial strength antibiotics are kicking in and I feel much better this evening. My streaming cold is abating, I’ve done a flow test which was -ve and I’m hopeful my sense of taste & smell will come back in time for my Christmas dinner. I keeping inhaling the contents of the coffee jar just to check again ...

Soop's welcoming kitchen for kind and caring folk...
(1001 Posts)Here we are again
Happy as can be (in the circumstances)
All GOOD friends and jolly GOOD company.
Welcome. The buffet is waiting. Our retreat is warm and cosy. There will always be a comforting virtual arm around the shoulder for those who need one.
Just popping in as I noticed the face of that little angel Willow. 6months already soop - how can that be?
Your patience will be rewarded - I feel it inside soop.
Very glad to see Jaxjackie and Urmst are feeling the benefits of their meds. It’s a rotten week to be unwell.
I hope everyone will find time this evening to collapse in a chair with a glass or cuppa of “cheer”. We deserve it.
Just seen your query to me Marydoll. Metronidazole is indeed a very powerful drug. It tastes bitter even when washed right down and did make me feel nauseous the first day of use. To be honest I’d be tempted not to sign up for it ever again and take the more gentle, slower route of amoxicillin for twice as long. But the taste! Ugh. For those who have had colonoscopies - it reminds me of drinking that awful prep stuff.
?
Thank you Tilly ?, pleased you’re feeling a touch better Urms, I have the amoxicillin, 7 days. Hopefully sorted by then, but I’ll complete the course.
Dashing into the kitchen again! We’re in lovely Yorkshire nod today have been to a large shopping mall to get the items on the shopping list that dd had sent me. Somehow, new towels in the sale and a new sparkly cardigan fell into the trolley, too. ?
Picked up the M&S order and then managed to not get lost in the city centre road system and took all the food and presents to dd2’s. Just three trips up and down in the lift! Though when we saw a couple leaving to spend Xmas elsewhere, with a mountain of packing and complete with two dog crates and two dogs, we felt as though we were travelling light. ?
Ena, do stay. We don’t all have to be chipper all of the time but often someone else’s happiness can rub off and make your own day seem a little better.
Get well soon, Urmston. Isn’t metronidazole the antibiotic you’re not supposed to drink alcohol with? How cruel at Christmas!
Soop, those sweet photos! ❤️ I always think it’s funny that most babies look so old when they’re born, all wrinkles and bags, but as they age chronologically, they seem to look younger! Our Bouncing Baby Boy GS is eleven weeks now and between last weekend and yesterday changed from that newborn look to a well-rounded baby that you can dandle on your knee without his head wobbling all over the place. He’s into 3-6mths clothes now but they won’t last until March, that’s for sure.
Have a lovely time SueD! ???
Willow is a beautiful baby soop. Everyone sounds very busy, wrapping, delivering, baking, final shopping. Today I did a bit of pre Christmas cleaning, and then went to visit mum in her care home. Tried to deliver some presents but they were out so will need to try again tomorrow. I’ve just got two gifts still to wrap, and the trifle to make tomorrow.
Sleep well everyone.
hellogirl1 I have had plantar fasciitis in my right foot several times and until you have had it you cannot imagine how painful it is. It seems to occur with no particular cause either. I cure it by visiting a chiropractor for a couple of sessions and also doing the stretching exercises recommended. It works for me so if you have access to a practitioner locally why not try this.
Very tired, so off to bed. I finished my present wwrapping, but ran out of gift wrap with 1 still to go, so improvised..................with kitchen foil! Do you think it`ll be noticed?
Evening everyone. A very busy kitchen with all the preparations going on.
I was enjoying peacefully reading about all your activities when I read Urms message about Metronidazole tasting like the colonoscopy prep stuff. I have now been traumatised and can taste it as though I have just downed a jug full of it ?.
Hope all the antibiotics do their work.
Have a good night
NNGB everyone ?
Merry Christmas Eve to all Kitcheners.
Cornwall is trying to lift it's very grey clouds. Our plan to do a Christmas Day walk on the North Coast and across our favourite beach looks like disappearing. Heavy rain forecast. It will be the log burner and cuddles on the sofa instead. ?
Yesterday started with a visit from two Welsh friends. They were down this way to see Mother. She was shielding and they'd been isolating and testing to ensure a safe visit. Had a lovely two hours chatting with them before I set off to the hospital.
Thank you for the good wishes for the MRI. All went very well. The radiology technologist was the same one I had last year. She remembered me! I’m terrible with faces and names. All went smoothly but very noisily, as MRI’s are inclined to be! The only concern I had, was that I went into the scanner head first! I usually, go in feet first. I am claustrophobic so my eyes were shut tight. Fortunately my head did end up sticking out slightly the other end so I could still see the lovely ceiling which is painted as if looking up through trees and blossom to a blue sky. The fortunes of being tall.
Following the hospital’s instructions I wasn't wearing any metal. The night before I took out all my piercings and made a mental note to get the clasp on right nipple one sorted out ?
However, with my leggings and loose top on, so they could put a cannula in. and no bra, I felt like a bag lady. MrM said he quite liked the look! Saucy!
I have no results until the neurologist looks at the scan and calls me. Probably about 3-4 weeks. If he says: "No change", that will please me. Four years ago a growth(mass) 7cmx3cm was discovered behind my womb, close to the sciatic nerves. Biopsy then showed it was benign but removal would involve difficult and potential dangerous surgery. A history of growth was needed! 6 MRIs later, the mass hasn’t grown and has not troubled me. I hope it remains that way but I know a man I trust to help me, if needed.
It looks like all meds are working for you Urms and Jax .
Good luck with all the Christmas dinner prep business today.
I read your post on GM and here yesterday EnaSharples and do hope you are reading today.
Don't leave but take a break from posting and perhaps do as Doodle suggests: please have a look at the Black Dog thread where you will find others who find life hard at times. I read it and hope to see you post on that thread soon, perhaps. Many have their ups and downs with GN. I get the feeling of not been totally accepted by some on some threads and most times can push that out of the way. Now, almost a year later, I enjoy the few posts I make and the lovely comments I get in return are a huge bonus and lift my day. Some days I get none but just the effect of getting my worries and troubles down on paper the thread helps me.
I hope your DH continues to encourage you to post.
Good afternoon lovely Kitcheners. Doing a few last minute but not essential jobs today. The only think I really have to do is wrap Mr. B’s presents this evening. I’m glad you’re feeling better Urms and Jax and that the MRI went well Muse. I have brain scans to monitor any changes and it’s my head that’s inside the machine. Like you I’m claustrophobic and have to keep my eyes tightly shut and pretend I’m somewhere else! I hope the results are good. Really happy for SueD, TOYA
Good afternoon all, thought I’d post before DD and the GC’s arrive, they’re only a 10 minute drive from us, so could be anytime but are picking up sushi for Imogen’s dinner tonight.
Sounds wonderful SueD, I have shopping trips where stuff just appears magically in my basket too, enjoy.
Our freezer is looking less crowded as the kitchen is defrosting central.
It would be so good if Urms gets her taste/smell back today. MRI sounds horrendous muse and Blossoming, but I’m a big wuss, ultrasound will do me ?
Good Afternoon each and everyone here in our Soop`s Kitchen which remains as warm & welcoming as ever it did.
Although I am not a daily visitor you are not forgotten, please be assured.
I would simply like to add my warmest good wishes for your Christmastide, may you each enjoy it in your own individual ways.
Wishing you all,(especially thinking of you Soop & your family) much improved health in the New Year, together with peace, contentment and real fulfilment in your lives.
Whatever that happens have Hope in your heart.
Love & Blessings to you all.
Dear Panache Our festive greetings to you, darling lady.
Throughout the year, You super-lovely lot have brought joy and laughter, together with very much appreciated support to those of us who have needed and benefitted from your kindness.
I really do hope that Ena returns to the kitchen. Her chair will remain in the quiet corner. She is one of the merry band and we enjoy her company.
The chimney sweep is doing a fine job and, very shortly, I shall return to the sitting room to re-polish it! A good job done.
Still stuff to do. My thoughts will continue to be with our Gransnet friends throughout the festive season. We are staying here at home. A very simple celebration. Thankful for our blessings. No visitors. Hope to speak to the family on the phone.
I shall try to pop in for one last chat before the end of the afternoon.
Lovely to see you calling in again Panache. Warmest wishes for Christmas and New Year.
Happy Christmas greetings to all my kitchen friends.
Whether with family or not I hope you all have a peaceful and blessed time.
TOY
Wishing all the kitchen a very happy Christmas.Greetings from north Wales and feeling very blessed to spend Christmas with the family.
Hope for best outcome for your MRI Muse.Stay safe kitcheners enjoy every minute. ????????
You need some onion soup Urms with some soft white bread and best butter - that would see you right! Hope you start to feel better soon.
I have had a sore throat and headache this afternoon so just did a LFT and was surprised that it was negative. DDiL , with whom we had lunch last Sunday, tested positive yesterday so I was thinking I had caught "it" off her. I'll do another LFT tomorrow.
Luckily it's a quiet Christmas Day for the two of us and also Sunday but I to befit for Monday when, (fingers crossed), we are invited to DD's.
Let's hope 2022 proves to be a much better year for us all that the last two years have been. Fed up of struggling!
I hope to be fit
Urms Listen to your body and be kind to yourself. Us lot want you well enough to at least enjoy a mince pie and a glass of mulled wine (tomorrow) perhaps .
The chimney has been swept. Good for when we light the fire as the last time we did so we were enveloped in a blue smog. Happy days!
Once again, Mr Soop and I send our love and all good wishes to you for a peaceful few days of gentle, festive cheer.
We have no gifts to open tomorrow. It was our wish not to receive anything other than love this year. That wish was granted thanks to the heart-warming support of Gransnetters, family and many strangers.
Until we meet again, may we share an enormous, virtual (group hug).
