Morning from S Lanarkshire, been awake for ages but at least have been getting more unbroken sleep which is great, things we used to take for granted!

Glad your DH is safely with you again Ashcombe and that you are feeling better grandMattie.

DGS’s Nativity play on Zoom this morning, enterprising school sold little packs of a treat and a sachet of hot chocolate to enjoy while watching! It actually does feel a bit like you’re taking part, so all I have to do is to manage the link successfully?!

Glad your journey was stress free Grammaretto, enjoy your family time.

Wishing everyone a good day ???

Grandmabatty Thu 16-Dec-21 08:16:44

Good morning all from Polmont. 9° already and dry but still quite dark. I hope Pantsglas is enjoying a chamberpot of tea in Spain. Lots of busy people on here this morning.
Yesterday I visited mum then pottered about the house and did very little. I seem to have got into a lazy mindset which is not good at this time of year. Today I'm going to a friend's house for lunch. I finally managed to organise my booster for next week. I've been trying for ages to phone but could never get through. The website wouldn't let me book online. Last night I was in a queue for three quarters of an hour but finally succeeded. One less thing to think about. Have a good day all.

Good morning Mick morning all from very mild South Lanarkshire. I don’t think I’ll my big coat today.

Snap Scentia, my Thursday afternoon twin! The big difference being that I don’t have work first, I’d be on my knees by bedtime.

Glad OD arrived without incident Ashcombe.

Fingers crossed for good news Sar. For you too Gagagran, I hope your leg is fully healed.
Enjoy the time with your families GrandmaSue and Grammaretto.

Glad you’re feeling better this morning gMattie.

Wishing everyone a peaceful day, may you happen across a ? or two.

Grandmajean Thu 16-Dec-21 08:23:34

Good morning all.
How exciting ,Grandmasue Such a happy day for you.
Am the opposite Brook and have three GDs and one GS . Love them all but tend to spoil him a bit as the only boy.
Got a lot of food shopping done yesterday s need to start cooking and baking to lighten the load before Christmas and New year visits of family and friends.
Should be attending the funeral today of an ex colleague and friend but reluctantly made the decision not to go. Now dithering again .

?????. Good morning Mick from mid Cornwall. Blue sky but it’s expected to cloud over. Pity. Temperature still in double figures.

Very sore eye this morning. Struggled to take a contact lens out last night and it split. Took a while to get one tiny piece out. More eye wash needed this morning.
Pleased you’re getting better grandMattie ?
Together again Ashcombe ?
?for your DD2 Sar. Lots of ??crossed for all those waiting for test results.
Lots of Matt’s. Thank you Urm. beechnut ? that’s greedy !

Posted a little present ? to my DS’s daughter yesterday. I hope it makes her smile. I still can’t understand why mum and dad are putting off seeing the school and doctor about her. Probably a good job I’m miles away! Trying not to get upset about the whole thing.

??Take care lovely Good Morningsters ??I

Good morning from a mild N. Bucks.
I think Gma Sue UK will be climbing the walls with excitement by the time her family arrive. Enjoy !
Glad GM is feeling better.
It was lovely and hearing seeing DGS 2 at his school carol service yesterday. I just love seeing all dear little faces and the fidgeting !
Today we are taking MIL for lunch and a wander at a fairly local emporium.
Once home we’ll put up the rest of the decorations.
Kind thoughts to all with worries and troubles . Wishing everyone a smile along the way.

Good morning everyone from a clear, dry start to the day here on the east coast of Fife. That’s himself up and dressed forthe first time in days poor things had the lurgy which is travailing around the country. Hopefully he’s on the mend. I’ve to stop nagging him, that’ll be a hard thing to do after all if his wife of 52 yrs can’t nag at him who can?
A few friends visiting today but only for a brief minute or two it’ll be nice to see them we’ve been behind closed doors for a while now smile

Have a peaceful Thursday and keep safe flowers

Good morning Mick and all from Anglesey where the sky is a bit grey but the grass is still green and it’s quite warm.
Such excitement GrandmaSue, what a wonderful time you’ll have catching up and having fun.
Glad you’re feeling better grandMattie, try and rest a little, you’re very precious to all of us.
Glad olddudders got back safely and without incident Ash.
Really enjoying those cartoons Urms and Beech you made me laugh even more than Matt.
How very selfless of you BlueS to make sure the cranberry vodka was okay before offering to share.
Lovely to see you again Muse and hope you’re returning regularly. Sorry to hear that you have family problems but you seem to me to be a strong and caring grandmother and I’m sure you’ll help them through. How is your little dog?
Glad your husband is on the mend multicolour, just in time for Christmas.

Good morning Mick and everybody. Grey skies in my corner of Lancashire, currently 6°C. Today’s plan is a little housework and a lot of rest. The usual physio exercises and cycling (indoors) later.

Hope you’re feeling better Grandmattie. Glad your husband is back with you Ash.

A big hug to Barmyoldbat flowers

Wishing you all the best possible day. May all those with worries find some comfort and all who are under the weather find some relief. ???

EkwaNimitee Thu 16-Dec-21 09:27:03

Good morning Mick and everyone from a rather cloudy Carlisle where the sun might or might not show itself at some point.
I was inexplicably awake for hours in the middle of the night, not even my lavender oil on a tissue trick worked. In the end I drifted off listening to a reading of Pride and Prejudice ,but only after I'd heard several chapters. As a consequence, I'm feeling rather frayed presently and will need to kickstart myself. A pile of ironing calls and perhaps an extra cup of coffee.
There seems to be quite a few busy Grans out there, you are making me tired reading your posts especially Scentia!
My thoughts are with all of you struggling for whatever reason, better days coming hopefully.

Urmstongran Thu 16-Dec-21 09:46:08

We just had a chuckle here with L’il Miss. she was looking at some photos and came across one of my lovely mum.

L’il Miss: aw look Grandma - one of nana.
Me: ah yes we all miss her.
L’il Miss: well Grandpa is old (he’s in his 90th year) and nearly dying soon so he’ll be able to see nana.

I don’t think I’ll share this conversation with my stepfather!

EnaSharples Thu 16-Dec-21 09:46:23

Good morning from grey Manchester. It is warm for the time of year. My dh is running the car to get it warm so we can go for a run. We might go over the moors towards Holmfirth to last of the summer wine country I havent been that way for ages. Have a good morning everyone, I cant do flamingoes on this old computer but hope you all get one.

EnaSharples Thu 16-Dec-21 09:47:40

out of the mouths of babes Urmstongran.

Nannagarra Thu 16-Dec-21 09:54:45

What a lot of cheer on the site this morning! It’s a real tonic and should be available on prescription.
? that olddudders is back with you Ash and that your family will soon arrive from Portugal GrandmasueUK.
? you’re feeling better GrandMattie.
? you’ve had your booster Grandmabatty.
? happy 7th birthday to minibrook2704.
?for muse that your eye is soon better and for Sar for your DD’s test results.
I’m another who would like some insider advice from Jenny Harries Gagagran. Like Grandmajean I’m dithering about meeting with friends today.
Phew! I did plan to do housework and wrap presents but I might need a rest first!
Sending a smile from Sefton together with the warmest thoughts for each and every one of you this Thursday.

grandMattie Thu 16-Dec-21 09:55:01

Urms, it reminded me of DS1 when about 7, saying his prayers. "God bless Nanny and Granddad, who are dead. God Bless Bobbine and George (what they called my parents) because they're nearly dead"! My parents were in their early 70's :-)
My mother was delighted with this story and repeated it with relish!

Blossoming Thu 16-Dec-21 10:03:04

How wonderful GrandmaSue

Forsythia Thu 16-Dec-21 10:04:13

A late good morning from south London where it is very mild and we’ve got no heating on today! We saw West Side Story earlier this week and thought it was wonderful so you will enjoy it Mick.
Best wishes to all for a good day.

Kalu Thu 16-Dec-21 10:26:26

As happened yesterday, the post I had almost finished disappeared as I lost internet connection to GN for a few seconds until I pressed, try again! Grrr.

It’s sunny and calm at the moment in Glasgow with patches of blue sky. Not a bad day at all for December.

I am running out of time to post another before my dental appointment and will catch up, hopefully, tomorrow.

Have a pleasant day all and my best wishes for a better day for those of you struggling with what life has thrown at you.

Gwenisgreat1 Thu 16-Dec-21 10:30:24

Good Morning all from bright Harrogate
God to hear Olddudders is back safely. Take care GrandMattie after your night-time escapade you need to rest!
Yesterday I assembled 24 mince pies (I'd already made the pastry and the mincemeat). In the afternoon I made two christmas pudds (the recipe doesn't need to be made weeks in advance). Today I have more pastry baking to do, this time I bought ready made pastry which arrived with my Sainsburies shopping. I think I'm nearly ready for Christmas now. Only the cakes to ice and two chocolate Yule logs to make.
GrandmaSue how lovely to see your GC after so long
Have the best day you can, folks!

Marydoll Thu 16-Dec-21 10:32:30

On a lighter note...

Marydoll Thu 16-Dec-21 10:32:57

Wrong thread!

Good Morning All x
Dull and mild out there this morning. I'm wishing it was cold and crispy right now to get me on the move grin
I was awake---wide awake at 4am so finished off the cards, had a cuppa and went back to bed for an hour !! Nooooo, it was over 2 hours and was awakened by a knock.

Since when did the water board read the inside meter ( outside one doesn't work but it's never been fixed ) at 08.30 when you don't know whether it's Christmas Day or Pancake Tuesday ? Anyway after much fiddling with the " Fort Knox " like front door I let him in----and didn't care if I did look a fright grin

I could hear him huffing and puffing on all fours as he scrawped to the back of the linen cupboard yo read it. How they would ever expect me to do it Lord only knows. Hahaha.

I scurried around feeding the cats then old Tom outside with his nose pressed against the patio door. I could swear his eyesight has improved with age and not deteriorated as normally does. It's all the grub keeping him going, he loves it.

A pottering day and some shifting around to make the room look a bit bigger ( some hope ! ) God loves a trier.

Crumpets devoured and I've just caught up with the news. Some terribly sad news coming from Tasmania sad

Everyone here sounds busy and in " the thick of it " with various doings and arrangements but glad to hear that GrandMattie is feeling more human and able to continue with preps.
Gingster I felt sad how your DD;s feeling so I hope it settles soon. This time of year does tend to increase any sadness.

A titter at Urms Matt cartoons---the poor man in the box grin

Good to learn that OD landed safely, Ashcombe and all well on the Western Front with Marydoll, let it stay that way.

Must get washed and dressed after a peculiar morning or it'll be lunchtime before I get cracking.
Much love to all and stay safe xx
