Good Morning Thursday 16th December 2021
(61 Posts)Good morning everyone from south Manchester where I’m up with the larks because we’re off to mind the grandchildren today (and tomorrow, Monday and Tuesday!). Crazy primary school have broken up already for their Christmas break! The primary where their mum teaches full time doesn’t finish until next Tuesday adternoon. The same Trafford borough too!
I find I often wake up a bit before I’ve set the alarm which is strange. Must be on my mind!
Pantglas2 giving you a good morning ? over there at tu casa in Spain. I hope you have a wonderful time! We had hoped to fly out to our little place on 3rd January but sadly we have a family funeral coming up (date to be confirmed) so we might have to reschedule.
Enjoy Thursday all who can. Here’s Matt (hopefully). x
It seems the days of sharing Matt must be over. Strange indeed. I can only assume some kind of block is encrypted somehow now. I will try sharing it with my sister in Spain. Maybe it will go to a private email but not a public forum any longer? Too techie for my brain.
Good Morning all from East Staffordshire where it is a bit cooler than of late.
I am in work already as I have been up since some ungodly hour. We are mega busy and today is nanna duties so I will work until they finish nursery and pick them up at lunchtime. We are off to gymnastics today and then meeting their mummy in town for tea. I have deliveries in between all of that too!
I ordered myself a weighted blanket at 4am this morning, will it work I wonder, and if it does, how will I fit in all my stuff if I start sleeping for a full 8 hours a night??
Thinking about people with real problems today though and hope you all find a chink of light and happiness in your day.
Take care everyone and stay safe❤️
Good morning all. Still dark here in Lancashire/Cheshire border. Had one hours sleep. My DD, DiL and 2 grandsons are arriving today from Portugal. I've not seen them in RL for 3 years and I'm just so excited. Facetime is brilliant but not the same. I've got to keep myself busy until 6ish. It's going to be a struggle but I'll try.
Hope people have a good a day as possible with ??? and ???
Scentia pace yourself woman. It’s one thing being busy it’s another thing entirely aiming for ^superwoman* status. You’ll burn yourself out trying to fit too much activity into every day.
#lazygran
Which reminds me to ask how is our other busy bee grandMattie this morning? I hope you slept well and feel more yourself after that funny do the other night. x
Good morning from a dark E Kent.
Ash, I hope oldD had a good journey and is now safely home with you.
Feeling better today after Tuesday night’s shenanigans.
I’ve got a Spanish class this morning, I have to confess that my heart isn’t in it. Our lovely tutor works her little socks off to make the zoom classes more interesting, but without the student around, I find it hard to engage. Let’s hope that Lynne will make it fun today.
I made some gingerbread biscuits for Saturday, the Sunday school children will be decorating the church Christmas tree. Need something to bribe them with! ?
I also went to the supermarket yesterday. Although the shelves were fairly empty as usual, I managed to get everything on my list, which is most unusual these days.
I hope that everyone is keeping safe, well and content. Carpe diem. Catch a little ? or ??. ☀️❤️???
Good morning all from North Leicestershire where it is quiet and not too cold.
Tiler again this morning so DH and I will go out and do some errands.
We didn't go to Wolfie's nativity yesterday which is a blessing as he just sat on the teacher's knee looking embarrassed at all the goings on around him.
Enjoy your days as much as you can and love to all with worries.
Good Morning all from Severnside. Dark and more dark.
I’m pleased to hear you’re feeling better Mattie. I hope travel has been uneventful for Olddjudders and GrandmaSue’s family.
I have to pick up my prescription and have a dentist appointment this afternoon. This morning I’ve got gravel to pick up off the carpet. I have some twinkle sticks in a pot and last night I knocked them over while trying to get something out of the cupboard. Much swearing!
Hope you all have a good day as you go about gathering up goodies for Christmas ?
Where’s tomorrow’s Urm ??
Morning Mick and all
It’s pitch black here in S E Essex, seems mild though.
Hopefully finish wrapping later today. How exciting for you GrandmasueUK enjoy your hugs later. Scentia I am tired just reading your post. Urmstongran I hope your energy lasts for four days of childcare!
Pleased you are feeling better grandmattie, hope your DH arrived safely Ashcombe
Keep safe and well folks ???
Good morning from East Yorkshire where it is is dark, dry and mild.
Grandmasue I can feel your excitement! Enjoy every minute.
Glad you feel better GM but take it easy.
* Ash* I hope * olddudders* arrived safely.
Thank you for the cartoons Urms - love em!
Yesterday didn’t work out as planned but I got through a few jobs that needed to be done.
Today I might attempt a trip to the market in a small town not too far away. I also have calls to catch up on and GS here after school.
Take care everyone.
Good morning you busy Morningstar’s from a dark S Hants, I think is dry and still feels mild.
Lots of travelling, hope Oldudders is safely back, Pantglas is ensconced in Spain and GrandmaSue doesn’t burst before her family arrive!
Yesterday was busy, not as busy as Scentia’s days but busy for me. Today should be calmer, a drive to do, washing the spare room’s bedding and making chicken curry.
Good you’re feeling better gMattie. Enjoy the film Mick.
And enjoy your day all, extra ???for those struggling.
Good Morning everyone from a still dark and mild south coast.
I have a Nurse appointment this morning, for my leg ulcer to be unbandaged and, hopefully found to be healed. Lovely nurse was hoping that I might be signed off today so will be wonderful if so. I have been attending appointments twice weekly since August for dressings. She warned me then that it could take 6 months to heal, so if today is the day, I will have beaten that timescale!
I also want to send a Hermes parcel back, get some change (cash) from the Post Office and spend a £5 Tesco voucher I got unexpectedly. Nothing else on the agenda so far.
Glad you are on the mend Mattie and hope Old Dudders has arrived in one piece Ash. Suspect you will be exhausted this evening Urms after an early start and a busy day. My sister used to say "Better to wear out than rust away".
I am trying to be pragmatic about the omicron panic as we are both triple jabbed and really want to keep to our family gathering on Sunday (at a pub). It will depend on DS who works with Dr Jenny Harris and has insider knowledge of the facts and stats. We will take his advice rather than all the media pundits.
Have the best day you can everyone.
Good morning all from the English Midlands. It's still dark but feels very mild. Great to see DS, DDiL and the DGC again though I still feel a bit like a stranger.
The train journey was fine - plenty of space and masks.
The family are still at work and school so I'll busy myself and play with the dog.
Not busy like Scentia. Steady on girl!!
How exciting for you Grandmasue 3 yrs is a long time.
I enjoy the Matt cartoons Urms thanks. It's good to have a chuckle.
Hope you all have the best day you can.
Good morning, all from a dry and calm Torbay.
DH arrived safely yesterday after an easy journey at every stage which was good. Thank you all for your supportive messages yesterday, including grandMattie thinking of him again in her opening sentence today. So kind especially with so much happening in your life. Please take care of yourself with many special times to enjoy in forthcoming days, DV.
We both giggled at the cartoon about the party, Urmstongran! Thank you for lightening the morning, after we'd struggled to make sense of DH's PCR test kit. My next challenge will be finding a postbox with an early collection and then we wait …….. !
Friends who've seen the new West Side Story said it was excellent, Mick, so I think you’ll be in for a treat.
Wishing everyone a happy day in these dark times. ?????
Good morning all from a positively balmy Glasgow, its 10°C .
GrandmaSue, you must beside yourself with excitement, you have waited so long for this day. I hope you have the happiest times with your family and the health to enjoy being with your family.
GM, good to see you posting, I was worried about you after your nightime episode.
Virtual hugs for all who are struggling and in pain. Have the best day you can folks. Carpe Diem and Nolli differe!
I made the second one up,
. It basically means, don't procrastinate, you have no idea what is ahead of you!,
Good morning everyone from a still dark Northampton.
No real plans for today except wrap the presents I have got for the three dogs for Christmas. I got two in Sainsburys on Tuesday then when I got home realised I had completely forgotten dog number three, so it was a quick order online and it arrived yesterday.
Spent my Christmas voucher yesterday on wine and smoked salmon! Then a visit to the cashpoint as I like to tip the paper boy.
When I got home I bottled my cranberry vodka, which I then of course had to test (for quality control purposes of course) and declared myself very satisfied. Picture included I hope.
Found my covid pass easily on my phone, so shall be able to go to rugby in the New Year; next home match is Jan 2nd.
Wishes to all for a good Thursday.
Good morning all and yes, GG it’s still pitch dark here in Essex.
Had little gd again overnight and will take her to school. I think she’ll go home after that. Hopefully mum will improve as the days pass by. She was very poorly yesterday and very weepy (not like her at all) .
Today I have my last bowls club and will sort presents out. I’m in a mess this year. ?.
Scentia let us know how the weighted blanket works out for you. Find a bit of time to relax today. ?♀️.
GM glad you’re feeling better. Perhaps you just got out of bed too quickly and your BP dropped. ?
Urms - pace yourself with the childcare activities. Lots of Christmas themes and traditions for you to share . Have fun!
Wishing you all a gentle day. ☺️
Morning Mick, morning All. Our corner of Somerset looks dry from the little I can see. Still mild.
Chores all completed yesterday, the grocery order arrived with only one substitution, a minor miracle. Off out today. A catch up and gift swap with a friend and some time with our son. First I must cook us a breakfast to keep us going. Well, I will when I stir from bed.
Pleased your husband arrived safely ash and you feel better grandmattie, don’t overdo it today. Same applies to you scentia, your energy is admirable but goodness, how do you sustain that pace? Is it ok to share your son’s insider information gaga? So much contradictory speculation out there. A wonderful time ahead for you grandmasue, enjoy every moment.
Take care everyone. Hope Thursday is kind to us all.
Good morning from a dry, mild Essex by the sea.
DD2 had her moles removed late yesterday afternoon, the one on her leg was cut and stitched, the one on her chest was a punch biopsy. Now we wait for the results. It is deja vu, we are all hoping the results are not the shock of last year.
A little shopping this morning and then a lazy day for me.
I'm glad you are feeling better GM and I'm pleased Olddudders arrived OK.
Enjoy Thursdsy everyone and stay safe xxx
Good morning from a grey skied Colchester. My forecast app says fog/mist but I can't see any from the window. Another mild day.
Thursday is shopping and housework with Jays online family quiz tonight.
DS should be home later for Christmas leave. Hopefully he'll use the mountain of car parts that are littering his room.
Love to all ? x
Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s dark but dry.
Lots of lovely news this morning, so pleased for you grandmasue, great that olddudders is safely back and good to hear you’re feeling much better gM
It’s DGD 7th birthday today, I’ve only got the one GD, but three DGSs so she’s rather special and I love her to bits.
I’ll be seeing her tomorrow on my first day out of isolation ?
Fingers crossed for your DD results Sar
Take care everyone whatever the day brings ?
