Don’t be ridiculous Beswitched. My comments are not addressed to you or anyone else. She’s dumpy. A lot of us are. If she wasn’t able to lose weight for the occasion, as I and I’m sure many of us have done for a special occasion, then with the sort of budget her son gave her she could have looked a great deal better. I have never been able to buy Chanel clothes but I do know how to make the best I can of what nature’s given me on the budget I have. And I don’t think the outfit was correct for the occasion. My thoughts entirely and if anyone wants to feel insulted on her behalf feel free.

Maybe best to keep your thoughts on a stranger's appearance to yourself rather than posting them on a public forum for all to see Germanshepherdmum.

This thread is a depressing example of the way in which women are their own worst enemies.

There seems to be an assumption here that for Lewis's mum this was a special occasion beyond anything she's ever experienced before so she should have lost weight and smartened herself up a bit. As the mother of a multi-millionaire F1 driver I don't expect its the first time she's worn Chanel and I don't expect she's spent the last few months worrying about whether some randoms on the internet think she's carrying a few extra pounds.

She looks nice in both photographs. That dress obviously wouldn't have been suitable for Buckingham Palace and her trouser jacket ensemble wouldn't have been suitable for a red carpet event.

I imagine that attending your son's investiture would trump any other special occasion, and photos would be guaranteed to go round the world and be displayed at home for many years. Maybe she will look at the photo and reflect that it didn't look as good as she thought. Maybe she'll think she looks wonderful. If it were my son I would make the biggest effort known to man for his sake, as I did for my son's wedding, and the photos we've seen prove that just throwing loadsa money at an outfit isn't the way to go. You can take the girl out of Stevenage (and I have no quarrel with that town unlike LH) but ...

LH was brought up there and called it 'the slums' Alegrias, much to the annoyance of the locals.

The house had 6 bedrooms and was not a slum as Hamilton said. This put the locals backs up.

I've only ever been through Stevenage on the train, so no idea what it's like. But if someone who couldn't wait to leave decided to refer to his mum's six bedroom house as a slum, I'd not think much of them, TBH.

I agree Alegrias and it’s one of the reasons I don’t support him. I have only been to Stevenage once, very briefly, years ago so can’t voice an opinion but I expect that like most towns it has good and not so good bits. A six bedroom slum house sounds a tad unlikely to me.
