BlueBalou Tue 21-Dec-21 07:49:56

Happy Anniversary dragonfly46!
It’s my birthday today, nothing special planned except a trip to the hairdresser’s first thing, then dog walk.
Have a lovely day everyone x

brook2704 Tue 21-Dec-21 07:50:43

Good morning everyone from a dark Inverness where it’s dry and cold
Goodness me flossie that swim sounds cold but good on you being brave enough to do it
Such good news for soop this morning, so pleased the target has been met
Today I’m off out for a festive Christmas lunch at a local hotel with one of my friends. I’m really looking forward to it and after lunch we’ll decamp to the comfy sofas and spend most of the afternoon there. Both DHs are on standby to pick up a couple of tipsy ladies later!
Hoping the PCR tests come back with a negative result soon it must be so really frustrating waiting for the results to come through whilst plans are falling apart.
Hope everyone finds something to enjoy today and take care all whatever the day brings ?

Oopsadaisy1 Tue 21-Dec-21 07:51:04

Good morning from a dark Oxfordshire, no weather to report as I haven’t opened the curtains, let’s hope we see some sunshine rather than yet another gloomy day.
Christmas gift drop today for a lady and her DH who used to live in our village, I’m afraid I’ve neglected them since Covid, they demand at least 2 weeks notice of my popping in and something (illness) has always resulted in a cancellation, sadly it’s doorstep today as I have the sniffles and they are elderly.
Then off to collect a ‘bargain’ 1950s cupboard for MsOops it was advertised online and is just in the next village, as she is in Cornwall of course we have to pay for it and then store it until who knows when, if MissOops and nephew movein with us our house and outbuildings will be full of other peoples furniture. Let’s hope a new rental can be found soon.
Wonderful news from soops fund, let’s hope for an early appointment for her.
Hope all who are waiting for test results get them soon with a +ve result.
Hugs for those whose days are filled with sadness.

Oopsadaisy1 Tue 21-Dec-21 07:52:11

Sorry that should be a negative result!

brook2704 Tue 21-Dec-21 07:53:24

Happy Birthday BlueBalou!

Gingster Tue 21-Dec-21 08:05:00

Good morning all and it’s still dark here in Essex.

Well - that’s our Xmas plans scuppered. DIL has tested positive for Covid . We usually host Boxing Day but this year DS1 said ‘let’s give mum a break and all come to me’ . ! Oh well!
The others will now join us here and DS said he will bring the party food round . They are so upset about it but Hey Ho , as long as DIL isn’t too poorly, and doesn’t pass it on, that’s all that matters. Lots of people in the same boat.

Today DD has to have her dressings redone. See what they say about the swollen leg ?.

Eldest and smallest gd’s will come to make their gingerbread houses. The others usually join us but are, of course, isolating. ?.. Twin gs’s (15) have declined to join us this year. ?.

I phoned my neighbour at our cottage by the sea yesterday and got all the news from up there. All ok at the mo! That North Sea will be very chilly =*flossiebo*. We only swim in it in the summer and it’s bloomin cold then.! ?

Best wishes to all and gave a positive day.❤️

GM - hoping you have a better day. ?

Gingster Tue 21-Dec-21 08:08:02

Oh I didn’t mean Covid positive! ?. Just a positive outlook. ?

Grandmajean Tue 21-Dec-21 08:09:30

Delighted that Soop has reached her target. Such good news.

ginny Tue 21-Dec-21 08:11:05

Good morning to everyone.
Had a very jittery, anxious day yesterday. Don’t really know why but there we are.
Today I am looking forward to making gingerbread men and a gingery house with DGS so that should buck me up.
Hope all the PCR test results turn up soon. Happy Birthdays and Anniversaries to those who celebrate today.
Shortest day today and I’m looking forward to the days getting longer. I’m really not a winter person.
Wishing all a good day with a smile along the way.

Beechnut Tue 21-Dec-21 08:11:47

A very Happy Birthday BlueBalou enjoy your special day! ????

Stilllearning Tue 21-Dec-21 08:19:28

Another good morning from S Lanarkshire. A day delivering Christmas cards which I have had written for over a week, goodness knows why it’s taken me till today to get round to this bit. It will include a couple of visits to housebound friends, lateral flow tested first.

Very happy to hear that Soops target has been reached, a real tribute to Gransnet.

At my Audiology appointment yesterday I was given a second hearing aid and I cannot believe the difference! I was able to switch off the subtitles for the first time in years, it’s incredible, I am so grateful—and I am sure my family will be too?!

I really hope those PCR tests come back in time for you to join your family for Christmas grandMattie and you too Ashcombe

Marydoll I couldn’t agree more about the Scottish Bishops decision to reimpose the Sunday mass obligation, are they in the same world as the rest of us? To be fair to our Bishop, (Motherwell Diocese) he issued a supplementary letter after receiving many complaints, basically saying that, of course anyone with reservations are free to make their own decisions.

Wishing everyone a peaceful day with no more worries appearing ???

BlueSapphire Tue 21-Dec-21 08:26:25

Good morning everyone from a very dull and overcast Northampton. A Sainsbury's delivery today, so will need to get my skates on.

Did not manage to marzipan the cake yesterday, instead I gave it another feed of brandy. Will get round to the marzipan today, then leave it 24 hours to dry out and ice it tomorrow. Nothing else planned for today.

The cats seem to have forgiven me for the indignity of their flea/worming treatment yesterday; they ran away yesterday whenever I approached, but I have already had one on my lap this morning, so normal relations resumed.

I am being very lazy this week regards cooking, and just grabbing home-made ready meals out of the freezer; had sweet and sour chicken and rice last night; tonight though I shall have another easy meal, egg, beans and chips! Proper comfort food!

Take care and stay safe everyone.

Marydoll Tue 21-Dec-21 08:33:45

Stilllearning, it would be better just to reverse the decision.
Your Bishop is in overall charge of Safeguarding for the Catholic Church in Scotland, a letter is not enough.
Sadly, I have had to go back to live streaming and once again, put a hold on my duties as sacristan. I just don't feel safe, as we have to rely on everyone to follow the guidelines.
People have become tired of it all. I shall miss going to Midnight Mass for the second year running, I love the carol service, just before it. However, we just have to do what is right for us. .

You are correct, they live in their own wee world and once again, I have gone off piste!! blush

Grammaretto Tue 21-Dec-21 08:42:08

Good morning Mick and all this Winter Solstice. from the Scottish Borders.

Sooper news from Marydoll about the fund. Well done!!!
Happy anniversary Dragonflies I hope you have some winter magic.

The electrician came at 9.30pm and stayed until midnight. He has now worked out where he will put the new wiring for the new cooker. Meanwhile I have to clear out my freezer cupboard. He found an ancient brazier thing in the eaves behind the loft but no other treasures or bodies.

A happy birthday to BlueBalou, A medal for Flossie
A warm hug for grandMattie and a cheer for Stilllearning!
Hoping everyone's day turns out nice.

NannyJan53 Tue 21-Dec-21 08:43:54

Good morning from a dull but not cold Black Country.

No real plans today, this afternoons walk from the park has been cancelled due to all council staff being drafted in to help with the booster jabs.

Stilllearning I have been given an appointment for a hearing test in January, as when I went for a tube change they realised I hadn't had one for years. I am hoping I may be given updated hearing aids, because I am sure my hearing has deteriorated.

Happy Anniversary to Mr & Mrs Dragonfly flowers

Happy Birthday Bluebalou flowers

Hoping the PCR tests results arrive today, and that all is negative.

Wishing you all the best day possible. Hoping NanKate is ok, you are missed dear lady.

NannyJan53 Tue 21-Dec-21 08:45:09

Meant to say, so happy for Soop that she has reached her target. Hopefully next year will be a much better one for her.

Morning all,

We are on granny duty today with the 6yr old and The Imp I am already exhausted…

Went out to our local posh Turkish for an early birthday dinner (DH) with DH, DD and her boys, we felt safe as there was only two other tables occupied, so sad or the owner, it is always busy and buzzing whatever time/day.

Happy anniversary the dragonflies

Happy Birthday BlueBalou

Keep safe and well folks ??

harrigran Tue 21-Dec-21 08:58:22

Good morning from a dry but cool NE.
Kept busy all day yesterday. Letter arrived from solicitor, first class delivery and the postmark was five days ago. I signed all the forms and put them straight back in the post, what are the chances of them arriving before Christmas ?
Had an awful shock last night when I was told that the fatal crash on the A74 on Saturday was DH's work colleague, we had known him and his family for 40 years.
I used to worry about DH driving that route from the NE to Glasgow for work.
DIL rang late last night to say that she has done some shopping at the big river and they will be delivered today. They are gifts for GDs for me to give them, hurray, that was the easiest gift shopping I have ever done. Just need someone to magically fill the fridge and freezer with goodies now.
Big sigh of relief for soop.

Pittcity Tue 21-Dec-21 08:59:33

Good morning from a grey skied Colchester. Another dry, cold day.

Tuesday is the day I volunteer at a charity shop and hope to be kept busy.

Great news that Soop will have her operation thanks to the power of Gransnet.

Happy anniversary Mr and Mrs Dragonfly

Happy Birthday BlueBalou

Lots of love to all ?x
