Good morning from a bright moonlit E Kent.
I hope you have a lovely time in IoW, Mick.
We’re still here. Half giving up the idea of reaching DD for Christmas, the other half living hope. ??????
Had a very quiet day. Had to go to shop for food as I had run everything down, to leave on Monday. Gave me the opportunity of getting bangers for DS. He loves them and never gets them in India.
Hope all the poorly, anxious and sad have a little chunk of light☀️In their lives and everyone has a chance meeting with a flamingo ?
Carpe diem, dear friends. ?????

Good morning Mick and all who follow. Its 2°C in Glasgow.

I'm off for my early morning MRI. This is the only hospital in Glasgow, I haven't been to before. It means I can complete my Trip Advisor reviews of Hospitals 'wot I've visited I may even get a badge for completing the set.

I feel naked; no make up, no jewellery, no deodorant, no hair spray and my pain killing patch has to come off. I sincerely hope I do not meet any of my public.?

I will come back later to check if the PCR results are back. Fingers crossed for a negative outcome.

Mick good luck with your packing.

Wishing you all, the best day possible.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s still dark but psychologically I’m uplifted because of the winter solstice - we’ve turned a corner today.

I had no need to set the alarm this morning but have been awake since 4am due to my stuffy nose, sneezing and generally feeling meh. I did think of Marydoll an hour ago just waking up to go to the hospital! I hope your appointment goes well.

A day of resting up for me, keeping warm and well hydrated, taking the antibiotics prescribed for me at the urgent dental appointment yesterday which sadly precludes alcohol for the next seven days but hey-ho I’d rather be pain free (natch). I think I’ll start a new book and settle into it today.

Enjoy Wednesday all who can.
Here’s Matt illustrating what we’re doing to ourselves these days.

Urmstongran Wed 22-Dec-21 06:17:41

X posts Marydoll! Hopefully parking won’t be a problem this early in the day.

Ashcombe Wed 22-Dec-21 06:29:29

Good morning, one and all from a calm Torbay.

A ray of hope here, grandMattie as DH's PCR test has been received, according to his dashboard this morning! We've already decided to postpone travelling until Christmas morning when traffic should be lighter for driving to Crewe. No doubt time is of the essence for your DS so I do hope you hear of his negative result soonest.

Last night was spent at a committee meeting for the theatre company, mainly to plan our programme for 2022/23. Normally our brochure runs for 12 months from 1st July but, given the uncertainty of these times, we’re considering putting out a six monthly one, in case of changes or cancellations.

Wishing everyone the blessings of the season, as per the card in the photo.

grandMattie Wed 22-Dec-21 06:37:53

Mary, hope all goes well this morning.
Urms shame about antibiotics otherwise you could take Matt’s advice!
Ash, terrific about your DH’s PCR results. ?we receive ours before midday as neither DH nor DS want to drive into the night. ❤️

dogsmother Wed 22-Dec-21 06:43:29

Good morning from beautiful dry just cold and dark Channel Isles you eloquently written folk.
I hope it all runs smoothly with good outcomes for all as the day pans out for you. My day should be peaceful with short trip to the shops for minor details, a dog walk which is will be wonderfully fresh! Then Mother Goose at a Pantomime visit this evening.

Nannagarra Wed 22-Dec-21 06:47:40

Good morning from dark and windy Sefton.
Enjoy your time in the IoW, Mick. My fingers are crossed that those who receive PCR tests find they are negative.
We’re looking forward to spending the afternoon with our DGD. Whatever you’re doing, have a good one. ???

Good morning from Essex by the sea. It's very cold this morning but still dark outside.
DD2 had her dressings changed yesterday, all healing well but has to return next Wednesday to have them done again. Not sure when she will get the results of the biopsies. She also had her booster yesterday so that's both my daughters and their husbands done ✔ ☺.
DH and I are getting the last of the shopping this morning.
I must remember to get the two large gammons out of the freezer to defrost, ready for cooking tomorrow.
I hope the PCR results come through soon ?.
Have a wonderful Wednesday everyone and stay safe xxx

Morning everyone, I am still in bed but when I looked out of the window earlier everything in the garden was frozen! Our daughter is hopefully coming today for a few days for Christmas. Younger son tomorrow and older son, partner and their daughter on Christmas Day. I have nearly finished all the food preparation but still await one or two presents. Most of the online stuff has arrived quickly. However, I ordered a book for younger son but there has been a problem with delivery. On the other hand, I sent two parcels to Australia at the beginning of December and they still haven’t arrived!

Gagagran Wed 22-Dec-21 07:09:13

Good Morning everyone from a cold and frosty (-0.3) south coast. It's set to be a cold day then warm up overnight. Should be the same for the Isle of Wight Mick so you can adjust your packing!

I started the Christmas jigsaw yesterday which I got to have on the go over the next few days as our social calendar is now virtually zilch. It's a lovely one of a greengrocer's shop in the 1940s with a woman and a young boy who looks very like DH and his Mum buying fruit.

My new bedside table arrived and is now installed. I have taken the opportunity to have a major chuck out from all my drawers. Next job is to explore the storage boxes in the base of the wardrobes - they definitely need weeding! Maybe after Christmas.

Sorry you have not had the PCR result Mattie but looking on the bright side it gives you chance to spoil your DS at home - bangers and all!

We have often driven early on Christmas morning Ash and it is usually a good time to travel with the dearth of lorries making things much easier. Have a Happy Christmas with your family and safe travels.

Glad to hear your DD's leg is healing well Sar. I had 5 months of twice weekly dressing changes for my leg ulcer but it finally healed. She will be much quicker than that I feel sure!

Thinking of Marydoll on her hospital tour in Glasgow. Looking forward to the tale of her adventures! You really should write a book Mary!

Poor Urms - your cold sounds to be a stinker. Try onion soup - my Mum used to give us that as children with soft buttered white bread. She was a big believer in home remedies- which often worked!

Kindest regards to all GNs and hope that we all have the best day we can. The sun has turned a corner and is coming back to us! sunshine

Urmstongran Wed 22-Dec-21 07:13:26

Ooh that meal sounds wonderful Gagagran I could in fact just eat that now if it was to be put in front of me.

Nannytopsy Wed 22-Dec-21 07:20:20

Good morning Mick and all his followers. Clear with a heavy frost in Suffolk today and I have an appointment for a haircut! I think I will go quite short, in case I can’t go again for a while.
Enjoy your Christmas on the IOW Mick and don’t forget a supply of face masks!
DD has joined DSIL in the sick bay and doesn’t need the PCR to come back to confirm what she already knows. They are short of food and can’t go shopping but luckily there is an order arriving today.
I can hear the blackbirds kicking up a fuss in the garden - I wonder what is upsetting them today? The local muntjac deer have been wandering about recently as if they own the village. I love rural life!
Good luck to all awaiting various test results and to Marydoll. I hope the day is kind to everyone.

hulahoop Wed 22-Dec-21 07:20:29

monk08 Wed 22-Dec-21 07:21:58

Good morning all from the Black country haven't looked out yet but hope it's dry. Today we are meeting the family in town and walking the 12 days of Christmas snowmen route. We will also have a wander around the craft market, we will avoid the German one as much as possible its always the same.
Slow cooker on with a chicken casserole so that will be nice to come home to.
Mary hope all goes well this morning.
? all PCR come back negative and all travels can proceed.
Urms may the antibiotics work and your soon pain free.
Enjoy your day everyone and may you all find some ?.

Ashcombe Wed 22-Dec-21 07:23:10

What an upbeat, post, Gagagran, with such kind, personal messages to individuals. Thank you, dear lady! I especially appreciate your final sentence about the sun. ?????

monk08 Wed 22-Dec-21 07:27:47

hulahoop hope all goes well with your surgery flowers

brook2704 Wed 22-Dec-21 07:33:32

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s very frosty and cold ? definitely need the thermals on
Enjoy your trip away mick and take care
I had a really lovely day yesterday, out with a very good friend for a yummy lunch and exchanging presents etc. Today I’m off for a splash around at the Aqua class at the gym and then later on meeting DH for a coffee at a local garden centre
Poor little DGD started with a cough yesterday so DD took her for a PCR test and they’re now all isolating now awaiting the results. Hopefully it’s something mild and not covid so Christmas plans can go ahead
Hope everything goes ok for you today hulahoop and your DD is ok too
Hoping everyone finds something to enjoy today and take care all whatever the day brings ?

Marydoll Wed 22-Dec-21 07:35:50

Sending my best wishes to you , Hulahoop. My appointment is minor compared to yours. ?

Gingster Wed 22-Dec-21 07:40:44

Good morning all, and like you Urms was awake early with a stuffy head a d scratchy throat. I seem to be fighting off a cold - hopefully it won’t develop. ?

Yesterday we had GD1 and her dad here for lunch, along with GD6 while mum went to hospital to have her dressings changed. The nurse was pleased with the healing process but DD was shocked at the amount of flesh they had taken away. She has to go back on Friday to have the skin graft wound redressed.
Glad to hear your daughter is healing well, Sar. Fingers crossed for good results. ?

We did the gingerbread houses yesterday - they are always very frustrating as they tend to collapse , especially when little gd puts so many sweeties on the roof parts. Never mind it’s all good fun and nice to keep the traditions going. ?

I have baking to do as we are now hosting Boxing Day, and another shop to do,

Wishing you all a pleasant and hopefully productive day. ??

Grandmadinosaur Wed 22-Dec-21 07:44:29

Good morning from East Yorkshire it is dry and I’ve just witnessed the most beautiful crimson sky from the back bedroom window.
I am spending time with DIL and GS this morning and this afternoon we are doing a click and collect from Morrisons and am hoping DH will have the patience to see I need to pop into the M&S next to it!

I’m really struggling with my emotions right now. The first Christmas without my mum is actually affecting me more than when she actually died. That’s all I’ll say.

Take care everyone and thinking of all with worries , not seeing family etc. ?

kittylester Wed 22-Dec-21 07:47:45

Good morning all from North Leicestershire where it is perishing cold.

Today, I have to iron!! We are expecting a delivery from Wells Fargo today - for some reason that really thrills me!! It's only 2 pork pies but nevertheless!! The butcher will also deliver and I have a Sainsbury's click and collect to do.
