Forgive me if anybody else was lined up to start this - but wide awake with a million thoughts buzzing through my head I wanted to do this before everything kicks off and I get too tied up with kennels, surprise visit from D and GS, - and what I am dreading, loading the car!
So happy to hear of the -ive PCR test results and with loving thoughts to any and all whose Christmas plans have been blighted .
To all Grans and grands and fellow Good Morningers - my Christmas message to you all !

Good morning Maw!
Happy Christmas Eve one and all! x

Beechnut Fri 24-Dec-21 05:52:59

Good Morning everyone from Severnside on Christmas Eve.
Thank you for starting Maw. I’ve been awake for a while and couldn’t get back to sleep. I must be excited!

Yesterday I had a foot appointment and now my feet look so much better. It’s given me a boost.

I hope you had a happy time at your daughter’s wedding kittylester. I remembered from my early gransnet days that someone had a son-in-law called the Idiot.

Today I have a few last minute crafting jobs, some pottering and bed changing.

I’m pleased to hear of negative test results so travel can happen and be able to spend Christmas with loved ones. Some things will be very different for some of you and you will be in my thoughts.

Stay safe and well all, I think the sprouts are nearly ready ????

Ashcombe Fri 24-Dec-21 06:32:19

Good morning, all, from a dry Torbay at the moment. Thank you for opening up, MayBeMaw.

I hope Mick and grandMattie had safe journeys. So pleased that her DS’s negative result finally arrived yesterday. What a relief! olddudders made the most of his new found freedom yesterday and enjoyed a walk over the Downs and an early doors visit to The Buccaneer. ?

I hope the wedding went well, kittylester ?. Your sprouts comment amused us, Beechnut! ?

This afternoon, we shall attend the Crib Service as I’ve agreed to play the piano for the six carols that are planned. We wear masks but are still allowed to sing in church.

Wishing you all a happy and peaceful festive season. ????????

Good Morning everyone from a mild and dry south coast. Not expecting to see much sunshine again though. The thick cloud layer is keeping us frost free though.

Hope all the travellers arrived/arrive safely without too much hassle. I am quite pleased not to be on the move though. There is something soothing and reflective about the quiet calm of a Christmas at home, just the two of us. Lots of memories of past hectic ones to recall!

Thanks for the reminder about the sprouts Beechnut - must get ours on asap or they'll be as hard as bullets.

Sending kindest regards and very best wishes for a Happy Christmas to all virtual friends on GN.

Good morning from a dark Manchester where it looks dry outside. Not posted for ages but do read most days to keep up with everyone's news. Number 1 gs, who is 5, is being dropped off at 8 for an hour, while mummy gets her hair done and daddy has a secret mission to do! He and the 2 other grandsons, ages 3 and 18 months are all beyond excited! All going for family lunch to a lovely local restaurant this afternoon. All doing flow tests before going, a way of life now before going anywhere. All here tomorrow for Christmas day, which will be chaos of the nicest kind and just happy to spend it together. Hope everyone has the best day possible. flowersfor those who are feeling lonely and (((hugs))) for those with cares and worries. Happy Christmas!! ????

Scentia Fri 24-Dec-21 06:44:43

Good Morning all from East Staffordshire where it feels mild again.
Maw I hope you are not expecting any overtime for opening early?
I am a lonely old soul today so I may go into town and spend 3 hours queuing to get something from the shop I can easily buy after Christmas but feel I need to join a Christmas queue?
I have a 2 foot square of wrapping paper left over so I may buy another present to go in it, I don’t like waste!!
Merry Christmas to one and all.❤️

grandMattie Fri 24-Dec-21 06:53:57

Good morning!
What a change from yesterday, which I spent snivelling until the negative test came back. All smiles from the tree of us after that! ?
We had an easy journey over, no holdups, not that much traffic;DH and DS shared the driving - each ad their fancy to eat on the way, DS and breakfast baguette and DH his Cornish pasty?
The family was overjoyed to see us. Now Christmas can start in earnest. Crib service this afternoon; midnight mass this evening DGD 1 is in the choir for that, Christmas Day service officiated by DD… wonderful.
May I thank you all for your positive thoughts and kindness - you really are a wonderful bunch of thoughtful people.
I hope those with problems have respite from them, pain abates, sorrow is tolerable… May you encounter a flamboyance of flamingos ?????❤️

Daisytwoshoes Fri 24-Dec-21 06:58:07

Morning everyone, Happy Christmas Eve to you all ???

Ashcombe Fri 24-Dec-21 06:58:57

So pleased to know you arrived safely after an easy journey, grandMattie! I’m sure you’ll have a wonderful time together despite the poignancy of your memories, Best wishes to you all. ???

MrsJeeves Fri 24-Dec-21 07:05:21

I'm a lurker rather than a poster but I've followed you all this year, waited for news with you, been happy with the good things that have happened and been very saddened by some of the really awful things which have hit your lives. I have admired your beautiful craft and art works, laughed at some of your adventures and been full of admiration at how busy you seem to be. Thank you Michael, and thank you all for sharing. I hope Christmas is the best it can be for you, and that 2022 will be much better for us all.

Grandmajean Fri 24-Dec-21 07:10:12

Happy Christmas ? Eve to all.
Haven't read the posts yet so hope some of yesterday's worries and fears have resolved.
Already been faffing about in freezer for an item that needs defrosting !

brook2704 Fri 24-Dec-21 07:10:38

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s cold, dark and looks frosty. Thanks for opening up maw and enjoy your day.
I think I’ve everything sorted now for tomorrow so I’m now moving into party mode. I’ve got DD2, DGS and DGD popping round this morning, the little ones will be so so excited! I’m doing a brunch type thing with some of their favourite nibbles. They’ll be leaving mid afternoon and DH and I are going out for a Christmas tipple at a favourite hotel in the afternoon. Then a video call this evening complete with G&Ts to toast my brother and his wife who live in Mexico. They’ll be sat around their pool in T-shirts and we’re sat round the fire in jumpers!
Wishing all my Gransnet friends a lovely Christmas and take care all whatever the day brings?

Good morning all from a mild North Leicestershire.

Lots of last minute things today as usual for Christmas Eve.

The wedding was a lovely laid back affair. DD3 was ridiculously unstressed. Thank you for your good wishes. The photo is the bride!!

Welcome Mrs Jeeves - please join in. We like weather reports and news of plans for everyone.

Good morning everyone from a dark but not too chilly Oxfordshire, thanks for opening up this morning Maw and a very Merry Christmas Eve one and all, thanks for the nudge about the freezer Grandmajean I forgot to take out the frozen fruits for the Christmas trifle, must go and do it now.
MissOops and nephew with dog arrived yesterday, sad that MsOops and GCs can’t be here, but safer tucked away in their cottage in deepest Cornwall.
So, a busy day cooking and prepping for tomorrow. So pleased for the -ve results yesterday for those who were waiting and a big hello for those who have posted for the first time, but have watched from afar.
Have a good day everyone and hugs for those who find Christmas a trial and who have sadness in their hearts.

Oopsadaisy1 Fri 24-Dec-21 07:20:28

A good Christmas Eve morning to everyone from a very foggy Northampton, can hardly see to the end of the Close. Seems strange without a cat trying to climb onto my knee, and the house seems empty without them. They were collected yesterday lunchtime for their holiday in the cattery where I know they'll be in the lap of luxury.

Good news for grandMattie - what a difference to yesterday's post!

Just a bit of packing to finish for me, and then as soon as DD lets me know what time she is picking me up I can get the goodies out of the freezer. Still no message/email about younger DGD's present, (ordered a month ago) so I am glad I got her something else just in case.

Wishing all a very happy Christmas!??⭐??☃️?‍?

Good morning Maw, morning all from cloudy South Lanarkshire.

Mattue, I couldn’t be more delighted for you, and Kitty, the bride is just beautiful. My eyes are damp now.
Welcome MrsJeeves

We will have DD’s littlest today while they are all at the panto which is a birthday treat for one of his siblings who came into the world on this day six years ago.

My very best wishes to all of you lovely people on this thread, may those who are in sadness and pain find peace.

Happy Christmas one and all in case I don’t manage to pop in tomorrow morning. ????

PS don’t we usually have some Christmas emojis from Gransnet?

maydonoz Fri 24-Dec-21 07:43:49

Good morning all from central Herts where it looks damp outside, so no white Christmas for us.
We both had our negative pcr results back after much waiting which was a relief.
However we don't know if our DS3 can join us tomorrow, although he's fully recovered he needs to have two negative lateral flow tests so we're keeping our fingers crossed. Otherwise we'll do Christmas in a few days.
Wishing all of you seasonal greetings and thinking of anyone who has lost loved ones this year.
Hopefully 2022 will be a better year for all of us.

Good Morning All, lots of lovely good news stories, I'm enjoying reading them. Just back myself from the Butchers, to collect my Christmas order. Got there just before 6am. They had been open an hour already and the queue wasn't too bad. When I left the shop the queue was down the street and there was nowhere to park. Two cars were vying for my space as I left. Feeling very Christmassy. Still lots to do and hairdresser at 11.45 so better get a wiggle on. Happy Christmas one and all.
