Good Morning Everyone ,
Its dark and wet here in brackley this morning, a quiet day of watching cyclo cross on TV to see how the Brits do, then more TV later on mainstream .
I am going to make a cottage pie cheat menu , with tin of mince beef and onion ,and ready made mash with a sprinkling of cheese grated of course .
Take care,
Mick

Good morning from North Yorkshire. I just stood in the kitchen and watched the sun rise. Magical!
Grannysomerset my heart goes out to you. Sending a virtual hug.
Yesterday was warm and bright so I managed a good walk to the next village. May do the same later after I have taken the decorations down. I have joined a walking challenge for January to help my motivation.
Have a good day everyone. Take care and stay safe.

Good morning all. It is cheering to see some blue sky this morning. Wonder how long it will last.
Another quiet day apart from just the two of us going out for Sunday lunch.

Later I’ll get my new diaries out and transfer birthdays and add in things already arranged for this year. I’ll be glad to get back to meetings and clubs , of course taking care. Also be good to see family who have had various colds, coughs and tummy upsets. No covid luckily but best to keep it to themselves.
My nephew who had the heart attack is doing well and I had a nice chat with him. Friend is also feeling a little better but still has tests to be done.

Thoughts with all who are sad or poorly and wishing everyone a smile in your day.

Grandmabatty Sun 02-Jan-22 08:55:09

Good morning all from Polmont. 8°, dry and breezy. It poured last night. It's nice to see Alizarin posting again.
Yesterday's dinner went well with only a few comments from mum. She was on her best behaviour as my friend and her partner were here too.
Today I will be having a very quiet day and I plan to do very little. Have a good day all.

Grannyme6 Sun 02-Jan-22 08:56:29

Good morning from a sunny (at the moment) south east.
Christmas decs coming down today and a general tidy up.
I should be doing a Pilates session this morning but can’t raise the enthusiasm……. perhaps tomorrow.
Roast chicken later on - it was plan B for Christmas Day in case we didn’t make it to DD’s - fortunately we did.
Have a gentle day.

Good morning from East Yorkshire. We had rain overnight but is a bright sky now.
GrannySomerset thinking if you and I know exactly what you mean as it was like that with my mum and although you are doing nothing it takes so much of your energy ?

We had a short drive out to the coast and a lovely walk on the seafront . Wonderful . Then we stopped of for lunch at a pub we like on the way home. A quiet day just watching TV after. DH went for a drink with DS last night … hurrah. After him being at home since 22nd all I will say is I’m ready for him to go back to work. Sorry if that sounds insensitive to any.

GS birthday party today but not sure if we can go. It is at a soft play centre. If not I’m sure we will see photos, videos etc.
Otherwise a day catching up with laundry and taking the decs down.

Happy Birthday to your son JJ

Have a good day all.

Oh baubles take care, hope you recover quickly.
GrannySomerset how difficult for you, you’re in my thoughts and many others x

FannyCornforth Sun 02-Jan-22 09:12:01

Good morning all from me in an unusually bright and sunny Derby.
Belated New Year Wishes to everyone too; may this year be kind to us.
As you know, it is both Dry January and Veganuary, where we are hassled encouraged to limit what we consume.
Personally, I don’t think that the midwinter is best time to be abstemious, but hey ho.
Today’s ‘Fanny’s Funnies’ have a vegan theme.
I shall go back and read the thread now.
Wishing you all a peaceful Sunday x

FannyCornforth Sun 02-Jan-22 09:16:04

MayBeMaw Sun 02-Jan-22 09:26:39

NannyJan53 Sun 02-Jan-22 09:40:47

Good morning from a much brighter Black Country, although dark clouds are looming.

Only plans today are to assemble a Lasagne for tomorrow, and perhaps make a few mince pies with the last of the homemade mincemeat. Roast Beef for this evening.

baubles I really hope it is only mild and you recover quickly.

Thoughts and love to GrannySomerset at such a difficult time for you flowers

chrissielou my thoughts and love to your daughter flowers

Good from sunny Leicestershire, I have just woken up, Christmas must have been more tiring than I thought.

The decorations are coming down today so we can get back to normal. The dog went home yesterday.

flowers for Chrissielou and grannySomerset you are both in my thoughts.

grandMattie Sun 02-Jan-22 09:49:10

My prayers and thoughts are with you, grannySomerset. I hope things don’t dragon too much. The wait is horrible. Much sympathy, hugs ? and flowers ?❤️

Grammaretto Sun 02-Jan-22 09:59:20

Good Morning all from the Scottish Borders.
My thoughts go straight to Grannysomerset
It's just over a year since DH died . He was at home with us and I will always be grateful for that.
Today my DSis and DBiL are leaving for home after a week of good fun so I'll be alone again but I keep being told I'm doing very well.
Have the best day possible whatever you are planning.

harrigran Sun 02-Jan-22 10:11:58

Good morning from a sunny and mild NE.
Yesterday my family visited and I slow roasted a beef joint on a bed of root vegetables and beef stock, it was so tender. Youngest GD made a huge apple crumble which was enjoyed by all.
Today I am going to have a quiet day, maybe look at netflix.
My thoughts are with you GrannySomerset, I know what you are going through. Here is a virtual hand hold and a shoulder to lean on.

Nannytopsy Sun 02-Jan-22 10:16:46

Good morning Mick and all his followers.
GrannySomerset you have my love - my mum lingered in her care home for a very long time, not knowing when there were visitors. She didn’t wake during my visits for weeks.
DGD tested positive for Covid yesterday. Her mum has been ill since Christmas with an awful throat which we now think may be Covid. Big sis and aunt also have the throat now.
This is a worry as they came here yesterday …
?

henetha Sun 02-Jan-22 10:18:53

So sorry, GrannySomerset. Hard to find the words, but I send you a heartfelt hug. flowers
Heavy rain ovenight in south Devon, and windy.
I bought too many vegetables so am making a big stew today,
and carrot soup. It will help counteract the effect of too much chocolate.

BlueSapphire Sun 02-Jan-22 10:19:13

Good morning everyone from a bright Northampton, hoping it stays like this as I am off to rugby this afternoon. Apparently the match is a sell-out, nearly 15000 expected. We have to show our Covid pass and wear a mask (except when I am drinking my red wine!). I am desperate to get out and be with people; I felt like climbing the walls yesterday, and was very down. Mainly due I think to the sad news I had on Friday of my college friend.

Feeling for you, Grannysomerset. It was like that for me in the last week of DH's life; I dreaded the end, but wanted it to come at the same time if you know what I mean.

Take care and stay safe everyone.

Gwenisgreat1 Sun 02-Jan-22 10:25:34

Good Morning all from what might be the 3rd dry day in succession in Harrogate!
I have been sorting out calendars and shall make a start on taking down cards and who they are from, etc.
Yesterday I was offered a Convection Microwave on Freecycle, since mine is supposed to be but have never managed to work it, I said 'yes please'. Now i have to clean it out and familiarise myself with it. It' a Panasonic, I've had 2 in the past and they've been good. Now I have to clean mine out so I can offer it on Freecycle. Today is going to be busy.
Thank you for the funnies Fanny
Take care Baubles I hope it's mild like I had.
GrannySomerset what a difficult time you are having, my heart bleeds for you flowers
Hope today gets easier for everyone with trials and tribulations

LauraNorderr Sun 02-Jan-22 10:38:41

Good morning from a blustery and damp Anglesey.
GrannySomerset thinking of you constantly, such a sad and heartbreaking time for you all.
A hard time ahead Chrissielou, stay strong. The time will pass and happy times will be restored.
Make the best of your last day together for a while grandMattie. I know you will.
Good to see you Alizarin, interesting Christmas present should keep you busy while you wait for improved weather for allotmenteering.
Very sensible Beechnut to wait for help moving heavy items. Enjoy that lunch, sounds delicious.
Thoughts with anyone feeling sad, anxious or just plain lonely. Better days around the corner ??????.

hulahoop Sun 02-Jan-22 10:42:13

A late good morning * Grannysomerset* ?. I hope you not too ill Baubles .We had a lovely day with Dd and family children were very happy with their second Christmas ?.Have best day you can x

Nannagarra Sun 02-Jan-22 10:48:48

Good morning from the Sefton coast where it is grey and damp. Roast beef on the menu; I just need to persuade DH that I’m not keen to eat it “tres bien cuit”!
Happy birthday to Jaxjacky’s son. My mum was born on this day.
Glad your mum was on her best behaviour yesterday, Grandmabatty. Result!
May those who have tested positive make a speedy recovery. Take it easy, baubles.
I’d like to join in the collective hug of GrannySomerset whose inner turmoil is so well conveyed and perfectly understandable.
Thinking of you all. x
???

EllanVannin Sun 02-Jan-22 10:50:15

Good Morning All x.
Have had to put the light on as it's gone very overcast. First thing it was the usual bright sunny Springlike morning, mild too, but it's quite grey now. No heating on for 3 days running !

I was rudely awakened by a loud squawk, goodness knows what the dickens it was. It sounded like a strangled parrot ! Then all went quiet. Most peculiar. Not a soul about either.

As I was getting the crumpets I stopped and realised how much cooking and washing of pots and pans I've been doing this past week or so. There's only me for goodness sake but I've felt as though I've been cooking for others too ?

Even today, not satisfied that I've got a small piece of ham left, I've bunged a piece of beef in the oven to have later for dinner with roast pots. Yorkshires and a couple of veg. Ah well, it'll do me until mid-week now as I'll mince the last of it on Tuesday.

I hadn't realised that Tuesday was a Bank Holiday, so will have to wait for the aerial man until towards next weekend. It's looking like Steptoe's yard here with the big TV looking like a big black shadow in the corner and the small ( working ) TV balancing on an " elephant chair ", but at least I'm not tellyless.

Others have far greater problems here and I'm genuinely sorry for these troubling times that have been bestowed upon you. GrannySomerset who I can relate with and feel her sadness. Ginny and her sick DD and worrying about childcare.
Chrissielou's DD facing treatment this year.
So many poorly people around. I hope you can find a bit of comfort in pouring out your worries here where everyone listens and gives support where they can. flowers for all. x

Hope everyone has a good day whatever you do. Stay safe and take care xx

hollysteers Sun 02-Jan-22 11:04:11

Good morning Mick and all from a dull northwest coast.
New Year resolution broken very quickly as stayed up late watching Aftermath (very good) and the plan was to be in bed before 12 every night…As the cat jumps on me before 6 in the morning, it’s not ideal.
Off into the city by train to meet friend. Been trying to book tickets for an exhibition, but it’s proving complicated. Might just show up. Otherwise a meal and the museum. Don’t feel like going, as always, but glad when I do. It forces me to wash my hair and even paint my nails!
Thoughts to GrannySomerset and Chrissielou

Auntieflo Sun 02-Jan-22 11:06:12

Good morning Mick, Annie, and all
It is damp and dismal here, but to cheer us up, our granddaughter and family are coming, and best of all, bringing lunch. What a treat! I am so looking forward to seeing them and especially our great granddaughter. She is a delight, can you tell I dote on her?
I have had a few days of not feeling myself, so this should be the medicine I need.
Tomorrow we shall probably take down the few decorations that we did manage to put up, but I will leave my long string of fairy lights. We left them up all last year, as I do love them.
Must also get my calendars and diaries organised, then at least I may manage to not forget anything important.
Thinking of GrannySomerset and sending gentle hugs and love.
Have a good day one and all.

Good morning Mick and all, It has been raining in this corner of Lancashire, where it is currently 10°C. It is brightening up now, so today’s plan is another walk after lunch. Started my 365 days of creativity yesterday and have had some thoughts on what today’s creation will be. Physio exercises as usual.

Thinking of all those with sadness and troubles today, especially GrannySomerset flowers
