Prince Andrew Can't Sweat

Doing wrong is not black and white even in law.

My own father who of course had never heard of Prince Andrew, could not sweat. My mother , who had never heard of Prince Andrew, told me this when I was was girl . My mother did not explain about the adrenaline thing as she had no medical knowledge, but after Andrew's admission about not sweating . I can understand how hormones are affected by some severe life events. My father was at the Eastern Front during the Great War.

Also in support of Prince Andrew, he probably did not even know that it was illegal or even immoral to shag an unknown and poor seventeen year old girl. Very rich people have odd childhoods, and it takes special efforts by parents and teachers to teach them what real life is.

I had a long career and unsurprisingly I was paid for the work I did. Was I being coerced, financially controlled trisher?

Your posts suggest you lack any understanding of trafficking or organised child sexual exploitation.
I’m relieved you say that this wasn’t an area of work you were involved with when working in law

I think your posts lacks understanding of what I have been saying in my posts. Have you seen me criticise the Rochdale girls for instance? I have in fact drawn a distinction between their experiences and those of VG.
No, I am pleased to say that my work didn't involve anything of the sort. I left that to solicitors who wanted to live just above the breadline doing criminal defence work and mixing with criminals and their ilk. Not something any firm I worked with touched.

*The manipulation of money and other economic resources is one of the most prominent forms of coercive control, depriving women of the material means needed for independence, resistance and escape*

I read this as referring to enticing women into prostitution then witholding the money they have been promised so they cannot escape. VG, according to this post, was paid for her services.
And once again, if it was so distasteful to her, why did she perform these services twice more, plus of course, for all the other men she is not at present pursuing?
Because it was her choice.

My thoughts exactly.

trisher

So she's going to make some money Annie why is that so wrong? Do you realise that no-one really knows how Epstein made all his money? It's high;ly likely that some of it was made through providing the services of girls like Giuffre to very rich and powerful men and yet you would begrudge her film and book rights to her own life?

It's not going to be a very interesting book or film unless she names some of her other clients, is it? If she tries to name other people she might lose some of her vast bank balance in defamation actions.

Anniebach Thu 20-Jan-22 14:59:46

VioletSky any opinions on why she had completely different
experiences to the other girls ?

Anniebach Thu 20-Jan-22 15:04:03

GSM* the film will be a success, as are Disney films and James
Bond films.

Did not Marilyn Monroe make ‘The Prince and The Show Girl. !

So you look down on solicitors who do criminal work Germanshrpherdsmum. What about solicitors and barristers who work in the Family Courts? The Judges who are selected to take a family ticket
Are they to be sneered at as well

I too was surprised by the comment made by GSM regarding criminal lawyers. Rather snobby and in bad taste.

Why did the ,quote, poor lamb 'do them'?

I'd add that not all those accused of crimes are guilty.

Anniebach Thu 20-Jan-22 15:42:06

A man stands accused in the dock, his alleged victim a woman,
stop the trial, verdict guilty

Germanshepherdsmum Thu 20-Jan-22 15:44:05

Yes I do look down on solicitors who choose to do criminal defence work. And you’ll find that’s not uncommon in the profession. I realise someone has to do it but that’s their choice. It’s not something I or any of my firms would touch with a barge pole.

VioletSky Thu 20-Jan-22 15:47:57

Anniebach I don't think my opinions would be very helpful apart from what I have already shared about the damage done to abuse victims minds and my understanding of it

Lucca Thu 20-Jan-22 15:48:20

Wow so how are those accused if a crime supposed to get defence ??
Or are they just guilty automatically?

Anniebach Thu 20-Jan-22 15:50:47

Thank you for replying VioletSky i understand

What did the firm you worked for actually do?

Germanshepherdsmum Thu 20-Jan-22 16:08:27

There are firms willing to do that sort of work Lucca. But not the sort I was with. Would you like to work for people charged with violent crime or paedophilia for instance, for less than MacDonalds would pay you? Because that’s the reality of Legal Aid. If you’re the Duty Solicitor called in the early hours you have to go to the police station regardless of who might need advice and what they might try on with you when you’re on your own with them.

Germanshepherdsmum Thu 20-Jan-22 16:10:49

Commercial work wwm, and private client work for high net worth clients. No criminal or family work.

Wow, just wow. That's a rather bigoted view. It doesn't become any of us to look down on other people.

So if it ever comes to a criminal case with PA you'll look down on his defence team?

Alegrias1 Thu 20-Jan-22 16:22:06

F*** me.

Been gone a couple of days and the forum's turned into the Judge Dredd movie.

Once, I've been on a jury. At first glance, given the defendant's background and where he lived, it was obvious he was probably guilty. We found him Not Guilty, and didn't ruin his life. And some poor downtrodden lawyer person (I'm being sarcastic) had got out of his nice warm bed to make sure justice was served. More fool him eh?

Blondiescot Thu 20-Jan-22 16:33:44

Alegrias1 I deliberately avoided this thread for a while because I really couldn't believe some of what I was reading, but alas, curiosity got the better of me and I popped back on today. Wish I hadn't now after reading the latest comments. I was always taught never to look down on people unless you were giving them a hand up. Some on here must find it hard to breathe up in the rarefied atmosphere of their moral high ground.

VioletSky Thu 20-Jan-22 16:52:43

I understand that we should presume someone innocent until proven guilty

But

When it comes to allegations of abuse I think we should presume its the truth until proven otherwise

Statistically the 2nd of those statements is correct more often

Caleo Thu 20-Jan-22 17:05:48

Defending a nasty defendant may be dirty work but at the very least, for the sake of the justice system, someone has to do it.

Anniebach Thu 20-Jan-22 17:17:50

Everyone has a right to defence

Lizzie72 Thu 20-Jan-22 17:25:42

Some people seem to be making this thread their life’s work. There’s a whole world out there you know? One life, live it, as they say. But, as you say, people make choices as to what to do with their time, with their lives……..
