Have a 70th birthday party planned for the 22nd January, having doubts about people wanting to mix. Would you attend a party for approximately 120 people ? Need to make a decision!

Grandmabatty Tue 04-Jan-22 17:52:00

I wouldnt

greenlady102 Tue 04-Jan-22 17:52:37

hell no

tanith Tue 04-Jan-22 17:52:47

No I absolutely would not be attending that.

Chestnut Tue 04-Jan-22 17:53:58

No and double no.

Baggs Tue 04-Jan-22 17:54:10

No, but only because I'm not a party person, not for reasons of health worry.

MayBeMaw Tue 04-Jan-22 17:54:18

No way!

We had an 80th party booked at our venue for 9th January for 50+. . So many have said however that they don’t want to attend because of the risk that the party bookers have cancelled until a later date to be agreed.

Not at all

MissAdventure Tue 04-Jan-22 18:02:21

No.
So many people are bound to pose a risk, I would think.

Kim19 Tue 04-Jan-22 18:04:01

Too large a gathering for me I fear.

Nortsat Tue 04-Jan-22 18:07:02

I am even unsure about concert tickets we have for 24th February!

We cancelled so many events and arrangements before Christmas, I wouldn’t be comfortable at such a large party and would give apologies.

eazybee Tue 04-Jan-22 18:09:45

I think it would be foolish.

GagaJo Tue 04-Jan-22 18:32:05

No, no, no. The UK yesterday had over 200,000 cases of Covid. My ex & his family went to a wedding a week ago. 7 of them now have Covid. Thank god his 90 year old FIL didn't get it.

Chestnut Tue 04-Jan-22 18:35:04

You may find too many of them unwilling to go for health reasons, which would reduce the numbers considerably.

Hetty58 Tue 04-Jan-22 18:37:36

Bellab, NO - we're still in the middle of a pandemic FGS!

Pepper59 Tue 04-Jan-22 18:37:42

No, on another note and just with Gagajo's post. People I know who acquired Covid, were at weddings. It is a shame for people but I think at the moment large numbers of people are not a good idea.

Kim19 Tue 04-Jan-22 18:38:29

Agree with Chestnut and hang fire on a decision if that's possible. The numbers may reduce considerably to within your feel safe level. Good luck!

Daisymae Tue 04-Jan-22 18:41:01

Only if I wanted Covid. Apparent 1 person in 25 is infected so it's your opportunity to host a super spreader event.

Sparklefizz Tue 04-Jan-22 18:44:09

BellaB NO!! Have you seen the latest rocketing infection figures? A party would be a super-spreader event!!

Urmstongran Tue 04-Jan-22 18:46:55

I’d hang fire. I’m happy to be out & about in bars/restaurants at present but they have small attendees socially distanced.

We are attending a family funeral on Thursday. Himself reminded me earlier today ‘no hugs and kisses’. Sad, as I haven’t seen some of these people in ever such a long time, but sensible.

Urmstongran Tue 04-Jan-22 18:47:37

Erm ... I didn’t mean they were 3’ tall. ?

LauraNorderr Tue 04-Jan-22 18:56:01

No, no and thrice no.

Ro60 Tue 04-Jan-22 19:18:53

Sorry - another No - already turned down a Christmas party with C 50 invited. Yet to find out if it happen or how many attended.

NotTooOld Tue 04-Jan-22 21:28:24

No, sorry. Hold it over until the spring. Things will get better.
