Have a 70th birthday party planned for the 22nd January, having doubts about people wanting to mix. Would you attend a party for approximately 120 people ? Need to make a decision!

READ THE THREAD (apologies for shouty capitals but can it be said any more clearly?) The party has been cancelled, it is an ex-party - there is no party

Sadly no, if you don't cancel I see very few people turning up. Postpone and rearrange when covid has, if ever, calmed down. Happy birthday ?

No, I wouldnt go. Apart from the covid risk I wouldnt go on my own since my husband died.

Why does every post get political. Every single post has someone blaming the government or Boris on his own. Half of the posts aren't even about political things in the first place. Some issues arent political so just stop with the blame culture. Of course he's done or not done what everyone agrees with and done some bad things but is there really any need to bring that up in every subject.

Bellab, it wouldn't have been much of a party, judging by the responses, you'd only have had half a dozen attendees!

MissChateline, fyi, it's not 'just a cold'. My friend had mild symptoms, yet she's been left with awful fatigue and brain fog, long term but, hopefully, not permanent.

Eh ? Every single post ? Or do you mean thread ? Even then I doubt the ones about cooking gardening and crafting are political.

MaggsMcG, I take it you’re a supporter of ‘Boris’ . Any thread that discusses the pandemic inevitably considers the way the government is managing the impact of this awful virus.

Personally, yep. Don't know your circs/health status. If you're jabbed to glory and otherwise healthy, why not?

Calmed down? This year, next year, some time, never! Are we going to e diving for the Anderson forever more? Hope not! Why spend our last third of life cowering? Take every precaution known tone worth doing and just get on with life, thankfully young UN's are doing all the commuting and forceable mixing at work so we can pick and choose but we must always choose life!

Def NO - glad it’s cancelled, was that the venue ? Have something in summer, a birthday is for a year ?

Ok so what's going to be different in summer? I remember folks saying a year ago ,"wait until next year after Christmas and it's all under control" ? Really ? Wishful thinking, we've got to make a break for it at some point, and how much "better" is it going to get I 3-4 months? Nobody knows so each day as it dawns eh?

Germanshepherdsmum Thu 06-Jan-22 16:09:02

At least a party in the summer can be held outside and social distancing is easier.

Hi, I was trying to find the thread for this. I wanted to ask if any of you would attend a large gathering round about April/May, or any gatherings in summer? I just really would like people's opinions.
