Have a 70th birthday party planned for the 22nd January, having doubts about people wanting to mix. Would you attend a party for approximately 120 people ? Need to make a decision!

It's a no from me too I'm afraid

muse Tue 04-Jan-22 21:48:03

No.

Our monthly craft group meeting, which should have been tonight, was cancelled even though we are all sat for three hours and only mingle during the tea/coffee break. It usually has about 40 attending. We cancelled the one last month and that was the Christmas one.

I think it would be a very unwise decision to go ahead.

Absolutely not.

No from me too.
Unanimous on GN!!
Quite rare isn’t it??

And a no from me too but have a happy birthday anyway.

Postpone it and have it midsummer. You’ll be 70 for 365 days. Celebrate when everyone can join in.

No, I wouldn’t go to any party, wait a year.

BigBertha1 Tue 04-Jan-22 22:38:33

Bella I would regard this whole year as your special birthday year and rebook your party for later on in the year.

Shelflife Tue 04-Jan-22 22:47:39

And another definite no from me , far too risky !

maddyone Tue 04-Jan-22 23:37:41

No, I’m afraid I wouldn’t at the moment. I’d deliver a card and gift to the house in the morning and not attend the party later in the day.

Thank you for your comments, with which I totally agree. It is my husband's party and he was unconvinced. Now with relief,it's cancelled.

Good! smile
I’m very pleased for you, I would have been worried sick.

Slightly off topic but can you believe this, my bloke was having a coffee and sandwich sitting at an outside table the other day when two women came and asked if they could sit at his table ……they seemed very surprised when he said no, it would be too close.

FannyCornforth Wed 05-Jan-22 08:15:31

LuccaI was at hospital a while back.
Only two people were allowed in the large lifts, signs were very visible.
I got in the lift on my own, mask on, of course.
Just as the doors were closing, a family of three (sans masks) marched into the (^my^) lift.
I walked out, and as I did, they gave me a right dirty look!

No way.

DiscoDancer1975 Wed 05-Jan-22 10:33:27

No

Hetty58 Wed 05-Jan-22 10:48:43

Bellab - so glad to hear it's cancelled. A neighbour had a 'garden party' with organisers, cooks and a hired marquee, just before Christmas - and was shocked that so few turned up. (I was surprised that they were surprised.)

SueSocks Wed 05-Jan-22 10:52:21

No.

Flakesdayout Wed 05-Jan-22 10:54:17

Definitely not. Too risky.

LeeN137 Wed 05-Jan-22 10:56:26

I definitely wouldn't go - largely because I don't do parties. But also, because I don't want to risk catching Covid or (worse) becoming a Typhoid Mary.

Nannan2 Wed 05-Jan-22 10:58:15

Good God, No!

kwest Wed 05-Jan-22 11:01:30

Absolutely not.
