There has been a spate of fabricated posts recently.
I think the latest is to feed someone’s sexual fantasy the others have just been ridiculous.
What on earth goes through these peoples minds when they write this tosh?
Do they get a kick out of the replies?

I was glad when the coven left just after I started . They were nasty, argumentative and quite cruel but I don’t see anyone like that now. Thank goodness.

These trolls also damage those with genuine difficult problems because they are in danger of being treated as trolls and their problems dismissed or openly doubted.

That’s what worries me Monica
I also remember how upset and heartbroken people were at the false posts about close family members dying a lot of people gave a lot of time and heartfelt effort trying to help and care

Two more today. One from someone who posts variations on a ‘problem with new man’ theme under different usernames who GN say deregistered after being reported yet again, then someone saying their 14 year old grand daughter had been bought a sex toy by her mother. What is it with these people and how could anyone dream up the latter scenario?

the 14yo thing again?? was it the same person?
I noticed my post and yours had been deleted re MT and then the thread went but hadn't realised there was another 14 yo/sex type one angry There were lots of weird threads yesterday though. I think MT write for womans own or take a break magazine

Lucca Mon 10-Jan-22 08:21:38

MT ?

Germanshepherdsmum Mon 10-Jan-22 08:39:58

Maggie Tulliver/Lucy Sniwe et al Lucca, she of the various problems with new men.
I didn’t see the thread about the 14 year old lesbian, only heard about it after it had gone so no idea if linked to the 14 year old with a sex toy yesterday.

Yesterday’s post re a 14 year old was from “ boredgran” the user name says it all really!

Yes, it makes us rather cynical.

Germanshepherdsmum Mon 10-Jan-22 10:17:55

Not very imaginative. The trouble is these trolls make you doubt people you’re not familiar with. I’m getting uneasy about today’s story of a woman who can afford to give £100k to each of her four children, who are very different to one another, after downsizing and leaving herself comfortable … what to do etc. I must be getting paranoid.

There are some strange individuals about.

A hospital consultant I worked with used to say ‘beware the complaint letters written in green biro’.

? A dd once did a 6 month internship with our LD MP, where reading/sifting/answering constituents’ letters was a major part of her role. There was plenty of green ink from the more nutter-type writers!

Might add that she was positively begged to stand for the local council - they were apparently always desperate for ‘non-green ink’ candidates. But by then she’d decided that any political career was not for her.
So they said, ‘What about your mum or dad, then?’
We declined with thanks.

Blossoming Mon 10-Jan-22 10:54:00

The thoroughly nasty and thoroughly silly posts from yesterday have now gone, along with the poster.

Next time they’re bored they’ll have to find something else to do,

^Thread deleted
Message from GNHQ: Thanks for the reports. We've sent the troll on their way.^

Millie22 Mon 10-Jan-22 11:06:29

There's always going to be people who post made up nonsense. We seem to have a spell of it just now. They are usually easy to spot but no-one comes close to the awful long drawn out scenario by that 'M' person. Extremely unkind and aimed at the lovely GM posters.

A hospital consultant I worked with used to say ‘beware the complaint letters written in green biro’.

The only individual I know who always writes in green ink is the Head of the UK's Secret Intelligence Service (SIS, or as it is more popularly known, MI6). I would certainly be concerned to receive a written complaint from 'C'.....

Ah, but green ‘ink’ is not quite the same as green BIRO! A different kettle of fish altogether.

Another hospital consultant I worked with always used turquoise ink in his beautiful fountain pen. In the days (long gone) of turning over pages in hospital paper notes he said it enabled him to find his ownpatient appointment notations much more speedily!

Elizabeth27 Mon 10-Jan-22 11:38:45

If they were ignored they would not bother doing it, but no matter how many times it is said the trolls are discussed at length, replied to, and many people write reported on the threads.

Just ignore them, it is not difficult.

JenniferEccles Mon 10-Jan-22 11:46:01

Oh yes the infamous M.
I will never that one.

farview Mon 10-Jan-22 12:11:37

jennifereccles ?

JenniferEccles Mon 10-Jan-22 12:49:17

Meant to say I will never forget that one of course!

Hi farview

Curlywhirly Mon 10-Jan-22 13:00:38

M??? Do tell, wracking my brains but can't think who you mean.?

Curlywhirly Mon 10-Jan-22 13:02:25

Ah, think I know who you mean now! The one that was involved in an accident?

JenniferEccles Mon 10-Jan-22 13:38:47

Not sure how much to say but yes to the accident.
I’m still not sure of the rules on what can be discussed and what can’t.

Namsnanny Mon 10-Jan-22 14:31:03

As I've mentioned previously, having been in the position of not being believed once before.
So I tend not to worry too much if a thread or poster is being honest or not.
I either dont post if I'm sure it seems dubious (as Elizabeth27 has already suggested). Or put my pov, and not worry about it.

Scentia Mon 10-Jan-22 16:39:27

An acquaintance of mine is quite open that he does this type of thing on lots of forums. He is 58, lives with his mother and father and has never had a true friend. He feels he is doing no harm even when he is on free dating sites, I honestly cannot stand the bloke and one day I swear he will be on the news having done something awful. No one seems bothered about him though, even the police say, what exactly has he done wrong.

Germanshepherdsmum Mon 10-Jan-22 16:45:44

Oh dear. He could be on here then? It sounds very creepy but not illegal provided it doesn’t go any further than what you describe. There must be many such lonely people about. Even worse for him when he eventually loses his parents. Poor chap.

JaneJudge Mon 10-Jan-22 18:13:51

Gosh there is someone posting rather ALOT who cannot be real grin !!!! If she is real I'll superglue my ass TO THE FRONT window like I did in 1963
