What Hobbies does everyone have ?

Oh my goodness Serendipity22, you are so clever. You should send a video of your work to Grayson Perry - it's just the sort of brilliant creation he features on his art show.

The mention of the word ukulele always makes me think of the ukulele orchestra in the film Hampstead!!!

My hobbies - sea swimming and gardening in the summer, sewing, knitting and crocheting in the winter and walking the dog all year round.

I knit, crochet, sew a bit and recently started making ugly ceramic pots.

Traipsing around old ruins and playing computer games...

Those bags are lovely, you should sell them!

I do more of the usual gardening, knitting and sewing lately - along with some woodwork. I've been somewhat obsessed with collecting (yet more) houseplants - and caring for them.

With the windowsills occupied, that obsession led, naturally, to another - making hanging shelves, dead easy when you've picture rails to hang them from.

Then there's the moss terrariums. I'd never noticed just how many interesting forms of moss there are. Now, I'm on the lookout for new varieties whenever I walk the dog.

I think this will develop into miniature landscapes, tiny log cabins, bonsai and resin streams, bridges etc. - so I'm looking at LED plant light bulbs now (oh dear)!

Hetty58 wow, woodwork ! Good on you. I can't really comment on the houseplants because i am admittedly rubbish with that sort of thing, but FANTASTIC for you. Your front room will be like a greenhouse.

I make jewellery, this year I am hoping to extend my soldering and enamelling skills.

for me: mostly reading, but a little watercolour, and very rarely knitting.

I have made a goal to learn local flora, so love to read about plants and their uses. Maybe I was a witch in a previous life.

I'm not gonna d at Chris fat but I am slowly knitting poppies for WI. Main hobbies are golf and Walking Netball and cooking.

Some very talented people here! I like to do crossstitch, sewing in general ( lots and lots of colourful masks!), ancestry research, a bit of gardening (back permitting) . I read late at night and, hate to admit it, but I play stupid games on my iPad. Sometimes I knit but only for the babies in the family.

That should say Im not good at craft. I also belong to a Writing Group

Blossoming I absolutely love that necklace. My daughter makes jewellery for a hobby, too and I am in awe of it all.

During the lockdowns I have discovered a new hobby. It is walking round the village with a hiking pole and poking all the drains. When it rains they get clogged up with leaves and mud. A quick poke with my stick and they are clear. I often find a new one under a great heap of leaves or in a muddy puddle. When I get them clear there is a great gurgle and the puddle drains away. Most satisfying!

I try lots of things. I've cross-stitched - am in Cross-Stitch Friends in the UK, a brilliant group on Fb. It's worldwide now.
I trued punchneedle, but could not for the life of me do it!
Done a little embroidery.
Paint pours, resin, Jesmonite, hoping to make a rug from old clothes from the grandchildren soon. Been looking at loads of videos on YT.
Can knit but it's painful to do so, and I'm really so slow a snail could do it quicker!
Pyrography.
I just love to try things.

This is a card I cross-stitched for my eldest granddaughter when she was little.

I play a lot of bridge. Before the pandemic it was at a local club twice a week. Now I play online and rarely a day passes when I don't play! I also enjoy walking, cycling, table tennis, reading and cooking.

Re ukuleles, I strongly recommend joining a local group. Try your local U3A. Or ask on social media local groups. If not, start a beginners group where you practice together rent a small hall so you're spaced out. That's how we started, all learning together. Our group has grown over several years and we sing and play for charity events. It's so much fun.

Also play along at home online with an easy song, this website is good for beginners. "Ukulelemad.com."
Look for " playalong songs" you can reduce the speed whilst learning.

I go beachcombing at every opportunity. We have beaches under the raised shops in our town and they throw up wonderful things like pieces of clay pipes, rusty bottle tops, old china cup handles and medicine bottles... My son is obsessed with it too and yesterday turned up with a vintage French wine bottle found on the waterfront. Best finds: a fisherman's knife in its sheath, all rusty but still recognisable, and a lone large Wellington boot, obviously from a trawler or similar, which now has a plant growing in it on my patio. My son and I aim to beachcomb the Thames when we can find the time to make the trip.

rubysong, thank Heavens it's not just me. I, too, have a compulsion to unblock the drains (shuffle about in my dog walking boots) - and get a few 'funny looks' for doing so, not that I care. In my defence, we're near the river and often flooded.

I've only just got round to sewing. I always felt clumsy and was scared of sewing machines since we got wacked at needlework classes at school. But a few years ago and went to a local class to learn. I'm still not good and don't sew much but I'd love to finish off the 2 Xmas quilts I started 2 years ago. They just need binding. I just want to make curtains and quilts

My main hobby is riding which I took up at 50, can't help but share a pic of my lovely mare, Rose, who is sadly injured ATM and unlikely to be ridden again, fortunately I have a good friend who lends me a horse to ride. Always late to everything, I have started art classes which I'm really enjoying. Gardening, reading and pilates are regular activities. I used to be a very keen tennis player but injuries have sadly put pay to that!
