I have looked on the list of topics for hobbies but I cannot see any so I am adding my thread on here apologies it is not meant to be here.

All my life i have done sewing off/on, using my mums sewing machine for years.

Last year during 1 of the lockdown's i had the notion to sew bits and bats for my DG's who live abroad ( age 4 and 1 ) that lead to me making endless drawstring bags ( and i mean endless)

Then Christmas was on the horizon so i changed the material of the drawstring bags to Christmassy pattern and added a bell or two.

Whoaaa my kitchen resembled a sweatshop, hahahaha, i put up with the mess because it was contributing to cure my boredom.

Today my plans are scuppered and so guess what has found its way to the kitchen table ! Yep the sewing machine. ALLLL this has lead me to think I wonder what hobbie everyone else has?

Here is a photo of 1 of the 1,00000000000000 drawstring bags i have made haha ( slight exaggeration)

Oooooo, lots and lots of interesting hobbies going on, its brilliant to throw ourselves into whatever we find interesting.

A friend of mine suggested me making carrier bag holders, sooooo today i did just that. After making 1,0000000000 drawstring bags ( exaggerating again ) i know full well that i will end up with 1,0000000 carrier bag holders hahahahaha.....

Ohh well, 'The old bag holder' stops the boredom...

I enjoy making jewellery and have combined some of my pieces with my years ago hobby of knitting. Knitting with craft wire turns out, is as fulfilling as my baggy woolly jumpers used to be!

I finally joined a craft site and only made 2 sales in many many months but I am so chuffed when I stop to think there are millions of others on there too.

Just very ordinary ones for me - knitting (which I have done all my life, from when I was about 7), reading, and playing the piano, (had lessons from age of 9 till I was 21). It was a great advantage to be a piano-playing infants teacher!

I don't think I've an artistic bone in my body.
I wish I did, when i see all these beautiful things people make.

kissygrandma which other martial arts have you tried? I had a go at Chinese kickboxing and aikido but Shotokan Karate is my main passion. My sons both did karate but gave it up long since. I've been training now for twenty five years.

Mine are reading, photography, and animal welfare related activities, plus collecting vintage Sylvac pottery; cows - not live ones wink and interesting/unusual candles.

I have one or two valuable pieces in my cow collection, but my very favourite is a glass Belted Galloway cow which my late husband commissioned for me from Tweedsmuir Glass when we lived in Tweedsmuir. It wasn't expensive, but oh, it's so precious to me.

Am dram, reading, cooking, baking. I've published some short stories and been shortlisted for a couple of awards so would like to continue with that.
I'd love to be able to restore or recycle old furniture.

MissAdventure Tue 11-Jan-22 20:36:00

I toyed with idea of upcycling an old sideboard when I saw the cost of them.
I gave in and bought a new cabinet instead though.

Forsythia Tue 11-Jan-22 21:10:04

I enjoy reading, sewing, gardening, knitting and love to upcycle furniture. I also dabble in water colour painting and I love getting out for a good walk.

Op and Dram, been involved since I was 10, don't appear now but have choreography for 14 years. Girlguiding, I'm a Rainbow and Guide Leader as well as being our Division Rainbow Advisor. Other than that I enjoy crocheting, knitting and researching my Family tree, I still work full-time so time is limited but as I'm retiring later this year I'm hoping to have more time and maybe add one or other things

I make plaster cast animals, figures, and pots, for the local care home, and the grandchildren when they were younger, to paint and varnish. Favourite mould is of a Mum and puppy dog (spaniel?). Largest mould is 3 flying ducks a la Hilda Ogden. Mould with most fails - a Walt Disney siamese cat with a long neck, unmoulding that one brings forth words I didn't know I knew.

This is my hobby Crochet

MissAdventure Wed 12-Jan-22 22:52:27

I've always loved crocheted things.
I can't do it though.
Perhaps I'll learn once I've mastered the ukulele. smile

I remember moving areas at work and being given a dreadful old desk with a scratched leather top. I had a moan and my then boss said "Calli, be grateful, my wife spends hours making furniture look distressed like that!".
