Give me back my bodyguards: Prince Harry threatens legal action against the government and demands return of police protection because 'it is not safe for the Sussexes to return to UK for visits'

Kathy73 Mon 17-Jan-22 12:27:36

the fact that many in the Spencer family have red hair is ignored - as was my comment to you Anniebach. My daughters and granddaughters have red hair and I found your remark rude. You would be up in arms if I were to make a derogatory comment about the Welsh

Blackcat3 Mon 17-Jan-22 12:33:36

Yet another time when he doesn’t want to be royal….but wants to keep the ‘perks’ that go with royalty! If he was allowed to pay for protection…..every celebrity would expect the same treatment…..catch 22. Many of the other minor royals go quietly about their business without police protection….so why can’t he? Oh yes…he wants the attention of course…..!

Socksandsocks01 Mon 17-Jan-22 12:38:25

Diana dyed her hair blonde to disguise her red hair. I'm not classed as a redhead but did have lots of copper hair mixed in. It is also a prominent thing sometimes coming down from generations passed. I think Harry is very much like Phiĺlip

Anniebach Mon 17-Jan-22 12:59:55

My maternal grandfather had red hair, 8 grandchildren, one
has red hair, I have streaks, well did have before the grey took
over.

Forsythia Mon 17-Jan-22 13:01:10

Nobody is disputing he is Diana’s son, he would have red hair from her side. He looks nothing like Charles or Philip particularly side view looking at the nose.

Forsythia Mon 17-Jan-22 13:01:55

Nobody is objecting to red hair. It’s in my family too.

Redhead56 Mon 17-Jan-22 13:14:31

I was a natural redhead from my dads family not anymore sadly. I won’t dye it because it had different tones to it. That cannot be replicated by any product. My son has red hair his children do and when I look at them I see me freckles and all. Harry has his mother’s family hair colour I think it’s lovely.

Are you privy to their thoughts? You seem to imply that Harry and Meghan don’t want to come back in a jubilee year, that it’s got nothing to do with that. How do you know?

I never implied any such thing. I’m simply saying how do people know they are after a photo opportunity etc etc.
I’m not bothered when or if they come back. I simply dislike the non stop bashing, and bringing out things like Harrys parentage and Diana’s responsibility for her death.

Disagree . He’s very like Charles round eyes and nose.

I am objecting to the constant comments on - ‘whose the daddy’ ,

Should I have asked my mother that question because I have
three sisters 5 ft, tall I am 5.7

Actually Anniebach said this - Kate must have been so relieved her three children hasn’t the Spencer red hair, which sounds objectionable to me. (I think she was referring to Catherine, by the way)

Scooby Doo has apparently now twittered that Charles paid for security for Camilla about 20 years ago. Suddenly he's their mouthpiece again.

Apologies if I misunderstood what you were saying. However I would agree with any posters who feel that Harry and Meghan would like to return for a visit because it is the Queen’s platinum anniversary year. I also think they would like to be involved in the celebrations for that if they possibly can.
I don’t think there’s been non stop bashing, I think people simply perceive Harry and Meghan in a less than favourable light because of their behaviour. You don’t like what you describe as non stop bashing, others dislike the behaviour of Harry and Meghan. Apparently Harry was upset because members of his own family didn’t speak to him whilst he was over for Prince Phillip’s funeral. If true I would say it doesn’t surprise me, it was shortly after the disgraceful Oprah ‘interview.’ Any person who can go on television and trash their own family to the world, whilst their grandfather was dying, is not a person who deserves any respect in my opinion. So if posters feel they want to ‘bash’ Harry’s behaviour they are entitled to do so.

Anniebach Mon 17-Jan-22 13:48:07

I assume ‘bashing’ is ‘criticism’ ? I criticise I do not bash

Lucca Mon 17-Jan-22 13:52:49

Of course not.

Er, excuse me, what’s wrong with red hair?!?!

Excuse me, Kathy73, but who said that there was anything wrtong with red hair?

I and many others have said that Harry has the red hair that several of the Spencers have. If we had said that like many in his family he had blond hair or brown eyes or long legs or a dimple in his chin, you wouldn't have leapt in to accuse us of being offensive, so don't assume that stating this obvious and factual resemblance to Diana's brother, among others, is someone being nasty.

If I were so prejudiced that I went round attacking people for having red hair, I'd spend my life covered in bruises, but merely mentioning that their hair is red is definitely not an attack. Red hair is a hair colour, genetically passed on from one generation to another - or added as a hair dye by those who don't have it but wish they did. It isn't an insult. Making it one is as stupid as believing that saying a queasy person is green is an insult to leprechauns.

I don't think Lucca implied anything. But others seem to know.
I also think some folk are very judgemental. I'm no royalist but I don't see anything wrong with Harry's request. Apparently Camilla had protection of Charles's security staff before she was a member of the RF.

Nannina Mon 17-Jan-22 14:22:59

Can’t he have Andrew’s royal protection officers, they don’t seem busy at the moment. At a time when there’s a shortage of police I think there’d be an outcry if officers, paid or not, were assigned to him. What do other American ‘celebrities’ do when they visit?

Iam64 Mon 17-Jan-22 14:24:06

Thank you nadateturbe. Agree with your post totally

Kathy73 Mon 17-Jan-22 14:26:39

Actually Elegran saying someone would be “relieved that their children do not have red hair” sounds to me like criticism of red hair - and I’m not generally considered a stupid person, as you suggest

Calistemon Mon 17-Jan-22 14:50:06

I did read it like that too!
As the mother of a redhead.

But I'm not offended

Jaberwok Mon 17-Jan-22 14:56:22

Charles paid for two retired protection officers for Camilla. Harry could do this but apparently he wants serving officers who cannot be hired privately. I don't think his proposed action against the Home Office will get him anywhere. He could of course hire a helicopter to take them from Heathrow to Windsor where they would be under RF protection, and so long as they didn't go out and about on their own and stayed on royal property they would be fine. Perhaps that's too simple a solution.

Germanshepherdsmum Mon 17-Jan-22 15:01:27

Ah but they want to go out and about Jaberwok. To show off, maybe appear on the balcony? That’s pretty clear because if they only intended to make a private visit to see family that could be arranged without anyone knowing about it. How many senior politicians and even members of the RF have made trips to see soldiers in war zones with nobody else knowing about it until they were safely back home?

Anniebach Mon 17-Jan-22 15:13:42

Thank you Elegran for those who look for insults where there isn’t one , or those who are fairly new to this forum I
should have said -

Diana is frequently accused of having an affair with a man with
red hair before Harry was born.

This was not true, she did say when he came into her life.

Harry has red hair as do members of the Spencer family.

Kate must be relieved her children don’t have red hair.

William too is a member of the Spencer family.

If they had a child with red hair Kate would probably have been accused of having an affair with a man with red hair.
