Been discussed before, I know, but in the DT today, it seems that support for this to be the Duchess of Cornwall’s title in the fullness of time is ever more likely.

I, for one, would be pleased to see this happen. Princess Consort would be a silly title for the wife of the King.

I have never thought Charles will allow his beloved wife to hold an inferior title.

Some posters have claimed she was naive when she married Charles.

MissAdventure Tue 08-Feb-22 13:38:37

I was pretty naive at 19, and I had had plenty of boyfriends by then.
I certainly would have been more naive than a much older man.

Anniebach Tue 08-Feb-22 13:38:40

She must have been naive she was 19, all 19 year olds are naive ,
I was the exception

Lucca Tue 08-Feb-22 13:42:07

Annie I’m sure I’ve asked before but why are you so utterly and endlessly against Diana ? Never a minute’s criticism of Charles or Camilla but never a minute of something positive about Diana ?
Surely there are two sides to the story.

Anniebach Tue 08-Feb-22 14:04:55

Lucca yes there are two sides to the story , not on this thread
though,

You still haven’t answered my question.

Judy54 Tue 08-Feb-22 14:15:55

Oh Sazzl too ugly inside and out what a nasty thing to say. It is sad that Camilla does not meet with your approval but luckily many others feel more kindly towards.

Yes a nasty thing to say

Germanshepherdsmum Tue 08-Feb-22 16:25:37

A horrible thing to say. Are you beautiful outside Sazzl? You’re certainly not beautiful inside or you wouldn’t have said that.

I would like your answer too Anniebach. I have asked before and been ignored.

Anniebach Tue 08-Feb-22 18:22:35

I ever said ‘she is ugly inside and out’ , I assume this is
acceptable because it’s Camilla

Mollygo Tue 08-Feb-22 18:26:29

Just seen Camilla on the news. Was it really necessary to post pictures of all the hatred that was against her in the past?
How many of the people who prepared that broadcast would like to see public opinions of them publicised, broadcast and rebroadcast?

MissAdventure Tue 08-Feb-22 18:36:36

But it's fine to rake over Diana's failings (real and perceived) here, endlessly?

maddyone Tue 08-Feb-22 18:58:00

No one is perfect, we are all flawed. That is the story of humanity, to be flawed. That’s why we all need to forgive or try to overlook faults in other people as far as we are able to. And in the end, neither Diana nor Camilla have made any difference to our lives, well not to mine anyway.

MissAdventure Tue 08-Feb-22 18:59:27

Very true, that.

Exactly. Most 19 year old are naive. It's nothing to do with how many boyfriends they have. 19 is young and certainly far too young to decide you're going to marry the heir to the throne, who's at least twelve years older than you, and who you barely know.

Anniebach Tue 08-Feb-22 21:13:46

‘Most 19 year olds are naive ‘. But not all ?

Beswitched Tue 08-Feb-22 21:20:39

I don't thínk any 19 year old is in a position to make the decision I described above.

Anniebach Tue 08-Feb-22 21:36:53

We are not speaking of any 19 year old, we are speaking of some one who knew all the family , who would know all about
the procedure .

She did say of Andrew, ‘ he was always playing on games, I knew he wasn’t for me’ , wonder what she meant

Beswitched Tue 08-Feb-22 22:09:41

I've no idea what you are getting at Anniebach.

In my opinion it was neglectful and foolhardy of Diana's family to encourage an engagement at 19 to an older man she barely knew.

It doesn't matter whether she was acquainted with the family or royal procedure. She and Charles were ill suited and an engagement should have been strongly discouraged and Diana advised to wait a couple of years and get to know Charles better.

Her infatuation or starry eyed romanticism would probably have blown over by then. There was never anything of any substance between Charles and Diana. The marriage was a disaster.

Anniebach Tue 08-Feb-22 22:19:12

She was infatuated or was a starry eyed romantic ? I don’t agree

nanna8 Tue 08-Feb-22 22:43:52

Maybe she didn’t realise just how intrusive the press would become and that they were not always on her side? Would have been hard living in the goldfish bowl and having to sneak out undercover just to live a normal life? As for Camilla, she seems a pleasant and sensible woman and what a pity they didn’t marry in the first place.
