Just had a chance to look at the posts and Ginster I became diabetic a couple of years ago, but I control it with metformin tablets , no injections . (as a needle phobic an extra reason to stick to the diet!) Does your DH know that the test they take show sort of long term diets, so sadly you cannot cheat by just cutting down a few days before. They will still be able to tell !! I dont like milk chocolate but really like very dark chocolate, I keep some in the house as I find when I just feel desperate for a bit of sweetness a very small piece of the dark which is actually better for you, seems to retain the flavour longer and I find it is better than denying myself , as I find that I am eating more bits and pieces avoiding the chocolate. With all the problems with covid situation, and bad back etc my greatest help , which is going for a walk or to the library or doing some singing practise, has not been possible and I definitely find myself want to eat more sweet stuff . Fortunately I have always been a great reader and find that I do better on a bad day to go to bed early and read. Saves on fuel and with a bad back it is too much effort and pain to go to the kitchen to get anything, so method in my madness!
