Good Morning Everyone,
To what appears to be a dark and wet start to the day here in brackley .
Today , housework plus a trip to Bicester later on the bus mainly for the street market , but plan to have a couple of beers as well , before returning home to watch cycling on TV from Spain.
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning everyone. I'm sitting in my car on Teignmouth sea front in South Devon. It's sunny and bright .
I went for a walk , the wind is cold and there was a sudden shower and a huge rainbow ?.

JACQUE100 Fri 04-Feb-22 12:34:36

What a wonderful gent -Captain Tom was.
Tomorrow will be a good day.
However today I feel that I won the lottery, as purchased from a well known discount supermarket 48 cans of Tuna at 24p a can.
2yr best before date too! How many ways can you use tuna smile
Starting to decorate our bedroom tomorrow-what a mammoth task- sorting out the excess prior to starting- needing to get it done before the garden calls.

You are such lovely people, my heartfelt thanks to you all for your kindness and support! It is much appreciated.
Ido know that I will have bad days and better days for some time to come, but life seems a bit dark ATM, but with your kind wishes, there is light - and, no, it isn’t a mirror! ?

Good morning Mick and everybody. Sunny intervals in my corner of Lancashire this morning, currently 6°C

Mr. B took me to Morrisons so I could stock up on supplies for my new eating plan, plenty of fibre, very little fat and sugar. It’s my version of 5:2 incorporating a ‘porridge and soup’ plan smile. They have a special offer on Schweppes tonic so I took advantage of that, Mr. B enjoys a G&T of an evening. I didn’t go mad though, I’m not a stockpiler grin

I don’t need to go for a walk later, I think I have done several thousand steps already.

Wishing you all the best possible day. May all those with worries find some comfort and all who are under the weather find some relief. ?

Good Morning All x.
A bit blowy and rather cool today so hoping any threatened snow passes us by----that's all I want ! Hilly and no grit.

I don't intend doing very much this morning ( nothing new there ) as the opening ceremony for the Winter Olympics will be on in just over an hour.

Usual fish and chips later though I was going to have some scallops but I do like spinach and scalloped potatoes with them, but no spinach and too much messing today. I have some lovely Patagonian scallops in the freezer but they'll keep. How the other half live, eh ? grin.

Hope things improve for you grandMattie it's so difficult when there are all sorts of things going on. Look after yourself flowers

Also hope appointments/ results aren't as worrying as once thought----easier said than done, I know.
Let's hope things go well.

Will ring brother later on his birthday. I doubt he and his partner will be doing anything special, but you never know.

I laughed at Matt this morning Urms simply because it looked like a corner of my living room with the standard lamp in the corner smile and me perched on the settee.

Because I forgot to take the crumpets out of the freezer I had porridge this morning with syrup squiggled on top, so I'll be back to normal tomorrow. It's that " hit " of melted Lurpak that I missed grin.

Anyway, special thoughts to those of you who are worrying, struggling or not so grand, flowers
Stay safe and warm everyone. xx

Good morning Mick and all from sunny but blowy Anglesey.
Sorry to hear you are not in a good place grandMattie, you and your family have been through so much, you have been keeping busy and being all things to all people. Maybe now is the time to sit back with your feet up and let it all wash over you. Cry and laugh and cry some more. Let it all come out. We are all so very fond of you and are here for you. Big hug ?
A day of nothing much for us.
Wishing everyone ????????

Good morning,
It’s brightening up here in South Yorkshire though feels cooler.

Today I’m off to help arrange some flowers in church then when I get back, I’ve got some ironing to do and a few other little jobs around the house.

? grandMattie. Sorry to read that you are having a difficult day today and that your DH is not feeling well.

Take care everyone.

cornergran Fri 04-Feb-22 09:34:46

Morning Mick, morning All from a sunny corner of Somerset. Early rain has passed through.

Little sleep so a grumpy cornerland today. I plan to shut myself away with the computer and deal with some admin. Boring though it will be it will save Mr C from listening to me grump.

Have the best day you can everyone.

Marydoll

Check your preferences in My Gransnet or Email GNHQ and ask them to check.

Personally, I have never bothered with it, I just look through the active list to see what catches my eye.

It get deleted after a glance here too. I only read it for the competitions and there haven't been any for ages.
I have a shortcut to the forums and rarely look at the front page or other articles any more.

Snowing here ?

EkwaNimitee Fri 04-Feb-22 09:19:59

Good Morning Mick and everyone from bright and sunny-ish Carlisle. We had very heavy rain and strong winds yesterday evening and night. From your posts, it seems it has moved south.
Today, a Tesco delivery late morning and a list of little jobs to do meanwhile. Possibly a walk this afternoon. I didn't get one yesterday as I was tempted out into the garden in spite of my temperamental back. All is well this morning though, my new regime of back exercises seems to be working improvements.
I have found out that the nearby lake in the country park was once a source of clay for the brick industry. I'm not surprised after seeing what I've been digging up in my garden. Below the stiff grey stony clay is a layer of solid orange stuff.

You are often in my thoughts, grandMattie. Is it not possible for you and your DH to get away somewhere for a short break away from things?
My best wishes for better times to all struggling.

Oliviarae Fri 04-Feb-22 09:18:30

Good morning
I suddenly stopped receiving my daily Gransnet newsletter around Christmas time. I have tried to receive it again without any luck. Any advice please? Thank you.

GrannySomerset Fri 04-Feb-22 09:13:10

Late up after a disturbed night so need to get a move on. DS and intended coming for lunch en route to friends in Devon and then DD arriving later for the weekend to cast her beady eye over me and, I hope, decide she doesn’t need to worry.

Nice sunny morning though still cold so a toddle up to the village will be nice, but shower first and decide on what to wear. Decisions, decisions!

Auntieflo Fri 04-Feb-22 09:13:04

Good morning Mick, Annie and all. It was raining hard here when I woke up, but has eased off now.
I decamped to the spare room in the early hours, as DH was snoring fit to bust. He woke me with a cup of tea, but although the bed is very comfortable, it's not 'my bed', and I am back achey.
GrandMattie, sorry to hear that you are feeling low ?? for you and a {{{hug}}}. Best wishes to your DH also.
I have a friend coming this afternoon, so no doubt there will be lots of catch up chat over cups of tea, and some of my date and walnut cake.
Have a good day one and all.

Morning all especially Gwenisgreat! We had a lovely meet up last week in Harrogate where we were visiting our DD2 and family. Came home to Staffs on Sunday with (negative) heavy head cold-thanks to 4 year old DGS. Think DH is starting with it too now! Moan! Moan!

Urmstongran Fri 04-Feb-22 09:09:15

Here’s Matt.

Goodness, I’m late. I slept 10 hours solid! Sat in bed with a cup of Yorkshire Gold.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester. It’s sunny, seems chilly and it has rained during the night. We have no plans until this evening when we’ve been asked to take the Boy Wonder to his cricket club presentation event as his mum is going to a staff doo.

Right, I’ll settle back to enjoy reading all your Friday busy-ness. x

joyce6135 Fri 04-Feb-22 09:04:47

Morning all, got up early as my mobile hairdresser was coming today, but found a message on my phone to say she was ill, so will have to do it myself? Raining here so not much else to do, but took your advice yesterday LauraNorderr and hung out the washing, and had a cuppa and slice of lemon cake! It all dried by the way! Have a good day everyone.x

harrigran Fri 04-Feb-22 09:02:03

Good morning from a dry NE where it is a little cooler this morning. We had very heavy rain at midnight.
DS arrived mid morning yesterday, we played Scrabble and he beat me again.
After lunch DS drove us to the seafront and we walked through the park and along the promenade, I managed a lot better than I thought I would, losing ten kilos makes a difference to your stamina.
DIL and GDs did not come after school so there was quite a lot of extra food, it went home with DS.
I have the washer on and will hopefully get the ironing done too.
Thinking of all those who are sad flowers

Kalu Fri 04-Feb-22 08:53:43

As I suspected Marydoll, a higher dose of Ramipril which will hopefully prove much lower readings. ? Thank you for asking.

monk08 Fri 04-Feb-22 08:48:53

Good morning all from the Black country, rain has now stopped and its brightening up a bit.
Sorry your feeling low GrandMattie easy said but take care ?.
Ash hope all goes well with your appointment.
Quiet day today may decide to give the duster an airing.
Enjoy your day everyone and may you all find some ?.

Alygran Fri 04-Feb-22 08:47:25

Good morning from North Yorkshire. The sun is shining again. I hope it lasts as I have the washing on.
I need to call the IT guy this morning. My laptop won’t talk to the internet. I think it is something to do with the firewall security.
Sending a virtual hug to Mattie. Be kind to yourself today…and to everyone else too.

AGAA4 Fri 04-Feb-22 08:46:31

Good morning from North Wales. Sunny here but quite chilly.
My DD invited me for afternoon tea at a hotel. Unfortunately there are two hotels with the same name, one not too far from me and the other in the city.
She had booked the one in the city and I turned up at the local one. Must read invitations carefully in future.
Sorry to hear of those who are not well today.
LauraNorderr glad your DiL is cancer free now. I have been through treatment for breast cancer and know how good it feels when you are well again.
Have a pleasant day everyone ☀️
