Good Morning Monday 7th February 2022

Good morning from a frosty Derbyshire. The wind has dropped and it isn't raining!

We managed a walk between downpours yesterday, then settled down for an afternoon of sport on tv and another match (football this time) that went the wrong way as far as DH was concerned! He was very quiet!

Our youngest grandson is coming today, after his lunch, and DS will collect him when he finishes work. I'm looking forward to finding out how his new job is going.

Hope Monday is a good day for all.

DD1 seems much better, thank you, grandMattie, but must continue with treatment for three months. She is back to working from home. Kind of you to remember. ?

Good morning all from Harrogate of the lovely skies! It’s 1 degree and I can see ice!!
Yesterday I had an invitation from Dd1 to join them for a Sunday Roast, DD2 with Dgs was also invited- it was a good family get together. Dgs decided I should play with him, and help him to dress up in his cousin’s dressing up clothes!! Somehow being a mermaid did not suit him! We had a lovely afternoon and where ready for a sit down when we got home. DD1 does like to entertain and is a very good cook.
Today I must phone to phlebotomy department of the hospital to see if any is the staff picked up my hearing aid, otherwise it’s a costly trip to York.
Sorry you are so low these days grandMattie - you need some sunshine!
Your Hen Do sounds a lot of fun Marydoll, maybe your DH should just invite his golfing mate round to your house?
gingster I made up a game for my DDS when they were small. ‘Who’s the first to see? ‘ A red door, it could be a door on a house or car, or who’s the first to see a yellow flower?

It is MrJ’s 71st birthday today, so we will be out to lunch later. He was a mere 61 when we met! The time has flown by.

I have bought him tickets for a play in Birmingham called ‘Catch Me If You Can’ and for a gig at Symphony Hall to see Travis. He has enough stuff

I have had a couple of bouts of vertigo Gaga it is quite debilitating. I hope it passes quickly.

Good morning from North Yorkshire. Another clear morning. Yesterday it changed quite dramatically around lunchtime to sleety showers and high winds.
The village hall ‘do’ was very good. The first social gathering there for 2 years. Nice to see people.
Housework this morning before meeting a friend and fellow trustee for lunch. We need to scout a venue for an upcoming training session.

A lazy day for is planned but we might pop to Snape too.

Good morning from Durham where we have blue skies. An unusual weekend in that I finally managed to celebrate Christmas with both my daughters. Previous attempts being thwarted by Covid! A good time was had by all and much fizz consumed.
A different story with my damaged roof due to Malik. A Surveyor finally visited on Saturday and informed me that I am to get two estimates for the work, send them off and my claim will be examined and I will be informed whether or not it is valid!! Not only am I confused but really annoyed over this lengthy process for such a simple incident. Having said this, I have never made any claim for structural damage, so perhaps this is normal?
Anyway, coffee with a good friend this morning and I shall get this all off my chest.

Good Morning all from a cold East Staffordshire.
I have been rather absent these last few days as I am getting up so late!! From sleeping 2 - 3 hours a night I am struggling to find the will to get out of bed in the morning, it is so strange to need an alarm to get up. I am loving it.

Mary that is such a shame for your DiL to not have her Mum alongside on her Hen Do. Still it could have been worse and arrived on the morning of the wedding. I do hope she stays well throughout.
I have had the granddaughter over the weekend as DD was at a hen weekend and SiL struggles with both the children, much to DD amusement. She doesn't realise how hard it is for DSilL being away so much and not knowing quite how to cope with the two of them. He should hear about a new job this week, which will stop all this working away and mean he is home every night. DD said she will give them 6 months!! I hope she is joking. My fingers are crossed for him as he hates being away from the home so much. Before children, he loved it as DD would fly out to where he is and stay for the weekend and stuff like that but not now.
Off to the factory to await a delivery of material, which has taken ages to come and is the only delivery we have been able to get this year. We have the work, but no paper to do it with. Very frustrating. Is is Brexit or Covid, who knows, but I know the paper mills in Finland are on strike so it is partly their fault!!!
Anyway, enough moaning about European deliveries and I need to tell you that DGD is already walking with a little trolley full of bricks and I have video evidence that she is officially walking at 8 months!! DD walked at the same age. DH says unless they walk unaided I cannot class it as walking, but whoever put him in charge of milestones I do not know!!

Snowing like crazy in the Alps- so having a quiet day, rest, read and swim. Then bright sunshine for rest of the week, with lots of fresh powder snow- so will be touring the mountains on our skis.

After struggling to stay upright in fierce winds in my locality over the weekend, I am intending to be indoors today to continue with tidying and cleaning. . A bit boring I know but it does need to be done. May watch some olympics later in the day.

Good morning from a sunny NE.
DD and SIL here all weekend and we got some jobs done. DH had several recorders to one of the TVs and two of them had malfunctioned so they have gone. The lounge TV recorders are going to get sorted today.
Trip to Waitrose this afternoon perhaps.
Music room seemed very cold yesterday, discovered we could see daylight round the window frame going to need someone to look at that. Since DH died the house seems to be falling apart.

Walk to the dentist is imminent, neither enjoyable nor cheap but essential if I am to hang on to my very inferior teeth.

Lovely weekend with DD who ensured that we ticked a lot of boxes and are therefore reasonably up to date with all the paperwork. Small drama when, blending some soup, DD pulled the goblet off the stand so vigorously that the bottom fell out and hot soup went everywhere. Her reaction was so extreme that I realised how upset about DH she is though she is swanlike to look at - calm on the surface, paddling hard below the water line. Not sure that I will ever dare use the blender again, and it’s only about a year old, but can’t get excited about that.

Delighted Marydoll is to have a real treat and hope it all goes to plan though very sorry that the bride’s mother won’t be there. I do value these signs of normality creeping back.

Good morning all, it’s bright and sunny looking here but I haven’t been outside to feel what sort of temperature it is yet. I shall have to soon as we’ve had electricity problems all week culminating in it going off completely late on Friday afternoon.
I immediately catastophized imagining a weekend without heating, light, cooking facilities or worst of all no WiFi! Which eventually means no kindle either.
Fortunately we managed to work out that it seems to be the solar water heater, so with that disconnected we’ve simply had to manage without hot water in this house.
The old house has an immersion heater and I’m putting off going over there to have a shower before physio later.

As the country has been warned that due to less rain than usual this winter there are likely to be many short electricity cuts, I need to convince DH that we’ll need some back up plan, I’m thinking a camping type cooking stove and a lamp or two.

Mick you would love it out here at the moment, the roads seem full of cyclists suddenly. It happens every year at this time but this year even more so as the Volta do Algarve will be taking place soon.

Good Morning All x.
A bright enough start with thankfully no gales. It was awful yesterday with intermittent showers of hailstones so felt really cold with only the electric fire in the one room.
I was dipping in and out of the kitchen cooking my dinner and having a warm.

Anyway, nobody's in any hurry to sort my heating out, be all the same if icicles were hanging down the wall ! However, as it is, it's not too cold and I have windows open, but haven't ventured for a wash yet You can bet your life the minute I attempt my ablutions, there'll be a knock on the door

My misery was soon compensated with my chicken dinner. I really did enjoy it, even though I did overdo the helping of sprouts, but they were small ones and as sweet as a nut. The chicken too was delicious and so fresh. Another of the same today----with less sprouts

I'm loving the sounds of all the outdoor activities, theatres, walks and exciting times ahead for Marydoll, hope all goes well there. A bit of normality is a start.

I'll be taking root waiting as I'd hate to miss the workmen being as it's an outside job on the meter. I don't want them sneaking about like they must have done when capping it, I want to be there to insult them They've obviously made a big mistake and will have their tail between their legs.

I'm even late with the crumpets but will get stuck in now.
Thoughts if anyone's down or struggling, may it be short-lived. I know one or two aren't up to the mark

Good morning Mick and all from Cloudy Chambers northwest coast.
Thank heavens the wind has died down, facing the Irish ‘Ocean’ in the dunes here, it’s been very wild and kept me in, leading to low spirits, which I have a tendency towards. I’m a bit all or nothing and it’s been nothing for a couple of days and I get irritated with myself. However I’m off on the bus into town for a classical lunchtime recital which comes with coffee and cake, so that’s an improvement. There’s lots I could be getting on with here, but I have to get out.
Friday was busy, painting on silk in our art group then a practice with the ‘band’ but after my annual check up at the Docs, my blood pressure is too high and my dose has been doubled. Don’t want to explode round the same age as my father…

Good morning Mick and everyone from bright and frosty Carlisle.
I didn't get outside yesterday as the showers were so frequent and heavy, not a lot better than Saturday so the weekend was a washout. I sulked in the sitting room with a new police mystery. Not a cerebral day!
It is frosty today so naturally some bareroot fruit bushes and a tree have just arrived after I'd ordered them months ago. Fortunately the ground should be soft enough for me to heel them in shortly.
Meanwhile, it's laundry and housework morning. Maybe I'll be able to plant something this afternoon but I see it's starting to cloud over already.
I hope you are on the mend today Gagagran, I have only suffered in a minor way from your complaint and wouldn't wish it on anyone.
